Chapter 43
Linda was meeting with Tracy, the SICU charge nurse, when the text from the ER came through.
“Damn. I’ve got to go. Good to talk to you, Tracy,” she said before hurrying downstairs. She approached the reception desk in the ER and leaned in close. “I got a text that Bobbi Herschfelt just came in as an OD. Where is she?”
The unit secretary directed her toward the closest bay. The ER doctor and a nurse were at the bedside, directing the scene. Bobbi had already been intubated and was on the ventilator. Her monitor showed a normal heart rhythm and blood pressure. “How is she?”
“She’s been unresponsive since they found her, and she has no spontaneous respirations. We’ve got her on pressors. We’re waiting on the drug screen.”
“Okay. Keep me posted, please. Is there any family?”
