Chapter 49
Paula had been in San Jose for six weeks and was already in love with California. I should have done this years ago. I feel so alive, and I’m not killing myself at the hospital. Exactly as she had heard, the working conditions were great, and she never had more than two patients. She had a comfortable apartment and was doing more socially than she ever had in Orlando.
“You’d love it here, Allison,” she said one day as the two chatted on the phone. “When does your travel assignment start? The hospital is great, a big change from Orlando.”
“I bet, Paula. I’m so happy you like it out there. There was a delay with my California license, and I’m still waiting. I think it had to do with the transcripts getting forwarded from my school. They think it will only be another week or two
