Chapter 33 “Code Blue SICU. Code Blue SICU. Code Blue SICU.” Allison had just walked through the employee entrance to clock in for her next shift when she heard the overhead announcement by the robot-like hospital operator. The night was starting off with a bang. She took her time opening her locker and getting ready for her shift. It was only 6:38 p.m., so she was a little early. “No sense getting to work any sooner than necessary,” she mumbled. Before she was finished, another announcement blared out of the speaker in the nurses’ lounge. “Cancel Code Blue.” Someone probably pressed the red code button behind the patient’s bed by accident. Visitors do it all the time thinking it’s a light switch. Oh well, at least the chaos will be less. What I don’t need is any more turmoil and drama
