Chapter 25
Exactly ten minutes after Paula received report, the cath lab team arrived with Marchman, the balloon pump at the foot of the bed as if it was attached. There had barely been enough time for respiratory therapy to set up the ventilator in the room before the patient arrived.
Paula and Dave worked side by side to get the patient hooked up to the monitor and admitted. The cath lab tech plugged in the balloon pump, which had been operating on battery for the transfer. Marchman’s vital signs were stable at the moment, and his EKG looked okay. Dave noted the settings on the IV pumps which controlled several vasoactive drips. Two-armed Orange County Jail security guards accompanied the patient.
“Thanks, guys. We’re good,” Paula called out to the cath lab team. “Thanks for your help
