Chapter 6: The Pact

The days following the confessions were a delicate dance of emotions. Emma found herself caught between Alex and Liam, each moment with one colored by thoughts of the other. The tension between the boys was palpable, and it weighed heavily on Emma’s heart.

One evening, as the three of them sat together in the inn’s library, Alex broke the silence. “We need to talk about what happens next.”

Liam nodded. “Agreed. We can’t keep going like this.”

Emma looked between them, anxiety gnawing at her. “What do you suggest?”

Alex leaned forward, his eyes serious. “We need to make a pact. We protect each other and put our differences aside. For your sake, Emma, and for the safety of Blackwood.”

Liam hesitated, then nodded. “I’m in. We need to focus on the bigger picture.”

Emma felt a surge of relief. “Thank you, both of you. This means a lot to me.”

They sealed the pact with a handshake, a sense of unity forming among them. But just as they were beginning to feel a sense of calm, a new threat emerged.

One night, as Emma was returning from a late walk in the forest, she heard rustling behind her. She turned to see a pair of glowing eyes watching her from the shadows. Her heart pounded as she backed away, but the rogue werewolf lunged at her with a snarl.

Emma screamed, and within moments, Alex and Liam appeared, transforming mid-air as they leaped to her defense. The fight was brutal, and Emma watched in horror as the boys battled the rogue with savage intensity.

With a final, ferocious blow, Liam brought the rogue down. Bloodied and exhausted, Alex and Liam reverted to their human forms, panting heavily.

“Are you okay?” Alex asked, his voice strained.

Emma nodded, tears streaming down her face. “I’m fine, thanks to you.”

Liam stepped closer, his eyes filled with concern. “We need to be more careful. The rogues are getting bolder.”

Emma nodded, her fear mingling with a fierce determination. “We’ll face them together. All of us.”
