In the morning, Nat slipped out of bed without waking Nicki. He stretched, grabbed his robe, and padded to the bathroom. Only eight o’clock, but he was wide awake. He grinned remembering the steamy night he’d spent with the sexy catcher.
He opened the door and scooped up the newspaper. He plopped into a chair. After skimming the news, he flipped the pages until a large picture in the entertainment section stopped him. There she was, Lucy Albright. And she wasn’t alone. He read the caption:
Lucy Albright with up-and-coming country music star, Randy Valentine. Has she traded in her baseball player for a crooner?
Jealousy pumped through him. He guessed she’d found a substitute when he had turned her down. Seems like good-looking men were a dime a dozen in Lucy’s life.
