I don’t do things like that.” He scowled at her. “If you’re going to be like that, we can call this off.” “No, no. Please. I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you. I promise. Come on.” He swung around to her side and opened her door. “Okay. I said I’d go home with you,” she muttered getting in. Rowley Banner confused her—hostile one minute, nice the next. Time to get the real deal on this guy. Rowley lived in a nice apartment building. Nothing fancy, but it had a doorman who tipped his hat to the couple. In the elevator, Rowley took her hand. His apartment was small, comfortably furnished, but not exactly out of House & Garden. “Let me show you around.”
