Mya
"August, I'm telling you. That dream was a message. I can't just ignore it." we was still talking about my dream that I had.
"No, it's not. You stressing over it about nothing."
"No, August it's a sign and I'm going to ignore it. You are up to something and you are not telling me."
"You know what ? I'll tell you what it is." I sighed and placing my hands on my hip. He got into my face and began to whisper.
"It's none of your buisness." he chuckled and I did a fake laugh. I walked to the front door and so did he.
"Since you don't want to tell me what you do." I turned the knob and pulled the door open. "Then you can get the hell out and never come back."
"Fine. And f**k you Mya, you not even all that you stupid ass hoe." those words shattered my heart but I showed no emotion.
"So is your mother but you don't hear me complaining." then I slammed the door in his face and ran upstairs and began to cry in my pillow.
August
I just finished my job out on my corner and made more than enough. I sat down in my office and thought about earlier with Mya.
It's not my fault Mya wanna get an attitude with me over nothing. She doesn't need to know I'm a thug.
"You good ?" Justin asked as he peeked his head in my office.
"Good." then he left. I turned on some music and played 'Downtown' and listened to the lyrics.
Phone just RANG heard a nigga got got
He was over in the East last thing that he heard six shots
He ain't gettin' no love from the cops, nobody got caught
Real talk when I heard who it was, heart damn near stopped
Somebody done killed my brother, now I gotta get back
Let em know cause a nigga gotta feel that!
Sitting shotgun with the shot gun
When you hear the shots come, nigga don't run!
Already bad, it can only get worse
Hand full of steel cause the s**t still hurts
Cut so deep when they put him in the hearse
Never saw 25, had to put him in the dirt.
As that part played, I felt a tear fall down my face. It's a shame my brother had to die before I even turned 18. I sighed and turned off the music.
"I'm out boss." I gave him 10% and walked out the trap. I hopped in the car and drove back home.
"Uncle August." Kay Kay screamed and ran to me. I picked her up and spun her around.
"What's up ?"
"Nothing. Where were you ?" she asked.
"Out. But I'm back and it's past your bedtime." then my mom walked in. "Lay down and I will tuck you in." she ran upstairs.
"Where were you, August ?" my mom asked.
"I was out." I replied.
"Doing what ?"
"Selling drugs." she sighed and sucked her teeth.
"August, you need to stop this. I don't want you to end up like your brother."
"I'll try."
"Thank you." then she went upstairs and I followed her to Kay Kay room.
"Uncle ?" she whined.
"Yes, Kay Kay ?" I answered.
"Can you sing me a lullaby please ?" I sighed and layed down next to her and singed 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star'
Moments later, she fell out and I felt myself getting comfortable so I fell out.
