“Here are some drop cloths to protect the hardwood floors,” Junie said, handing them out to Knox, Blue, and Sailor. There were a couple of other new neighbors Jo had rallied as well. Soon, her helpers were unfurling the cloths like sails and securing them over the old hardwood floors, which Junie planned to refinish as well. She and Knox had already removed the baseboards and would replace them afterward. Junie had asked Faye to cover for her at the gift shop today so she could get the interior painting done before the furniture she’d chosen with Deb arrived. “I brought the rest of the supplies,” Knox said.
