Chapter 5: Jhene the Sherlock

1276 Words
Alison POV – I finished the rest of my notes on my last patient today. Christopher Noble. Most definitely my hottest patient ever, my normal patients are either seniors , small odd teens or kids, it's weirdly rare to see anyone my own age, Jhene always gets most of the few that come in though, at the thought of Jhene I remember about our little meeting arrangement at my apartment. I got up and started putting the files away when I was done I went around to the exam room to check the sinks and turn the lights off, it was now around 4:30, I got my bag and phone from my desk then headed to the main door, Britney was already gone from around 3:00, not before questioning my reason for the discount. I had decided to stay late because I had some notes to catch up on from last week. I stepped outside and quickly locked the door then made my way to my black 2007 Honda accord ,I bought it right after graduation from my neighbour at the time Mr. Rowe, I have been saving up for it since my senior year at high school. I loved it so much I never had a scratch on it and I took it to the car wash regularly, I guess that's what happen when hard work pays off. I got in putting my bag over on the passenger seat then shut the door and drove off. On the way, my phone rang, the screen read 'Jhene'. I slid my screen to the right, answering it. "What's up?" I said. "What's up!? what is up!?" she repeated my simple statement, oh boy, what did I do now? "What did I do now, Jhene" I said nonchalantly as I exited the parking lot, drama queen. "Oh I don't know Alison maybe it's the reason why I'm standing outside your apartment for the past half an hour banging on your door!" she exclaimed over the phone. "You’re being dramatic and exaggerating I don’t think you’ve been out there 10 minutes" I stated since I knew how dramatic Jhene is. "No I'm not!" she whisper shouted. "Whatever don't disturb Mrs. Lagner you know how she gets" I warned. "I fudging know now thanks to you b***h" she remarked and continued ranting for god knows how long till I neared the final stoplight to my building. "Why didn't you just call?" I questioned. "I did! you must have around 30 missed calls!" "You’re so dramatic" I said as I parked in the buildings parking lot. "Just get your ass here!" "My ass is already here" I answered coolly. "Ok then hurry up, I’m hungry and in need of alcohol” she hung up. I stopped the engine, grabbed my things and got out. I entered the building and waved to Mrs. Davis, she was the landlady, she’s been to my office a few times. I went into the buildings elevator and selected my floor, I checked my phone for any missed calls and messages on the way, Hmm...16 missed calls from the one and only Jhene Clarkson. I must have been distracted, what ever could it have been? The doors opened and I saw an angry Jhene standing outside my door a few doors down the hall, oops? "Hey girl!" I came up smoothly and unlocked the door like she wasnt just unleashing the beast a while ago on the phone. She just glared at me as we entered I noticed that Randy was sleeping the corner. Then her expression changed when she saw me smiling with myself. "Were you doing it with him?" she enquired with an amused face, referring to Christopher. "No!" I said appalled. Randy woke up and made his way to me wagging his tail. I pet him. He then went over to Jhene. "Sure" she said unconvinced as she pet Randy. We then entered the kitchen, I pulled out a wine bottle and got two glasses giving one to her. "I think it's best if we take the whole bottle", she said "it’s gonna be a long night cause I need all the details" She finished as she dropped herself in the sofa. I sat beside her in silence, filled my glass and slowly started sipping as I looked around my apartment at the paintings on the walls in the hall to my room and modern looking furniture all spaced out and randy sleeping between the love seat and sofa, I had a pretty spacious apartment I noticed for the first time since I moved here about 4 months ago. I felt myself being watched. "What?" I asked. "Spill!" she demanded. I told her about the whole ordeal that lead to him asking me out on a date, you know, the needle-in-cheek thing and his redress being a date, however I didn't tell that I had declined the offer, more like didn’t get a chance to do so. "Oh my god! ha ha!" she burst out laughing, its been a while since ive something funny and/or dumb so I let her have this one. "Yea-" she cut me off. I've been getting a lot of that lately. "You stuck him in the cheek!? How did you manage to pull that off? oh wow”, she paused for a breath. “Wait till I tell Margaret about this, well at least you have the date to make up for it" She said before sipping. I was about to tell her. "So when's the date?" She asked with a smile, getting comfortable she probably had 3 outfits for any type of date ready in her head already, that smile was going away soon. “There is no date" I said quickly shutting my eyes tightly. Silence. I peeked at her. "Are you kidding me!!?" she bawled finally. "I'm sorry I panicked! I didn't think I was ready for a date" I said ashamed. "You are so ready girl!” she emphasized, “And you made a hot rod get away! I can’t believe this!, what's his name anyway?", she was massaging her temples in frustration with me. "Christopher" I said. “Last name also, you know I want every detail" she said. “His name is Christopher Noble, geez" I said frustrated and flopped back on the sofa. She paused. "That name sounds familiar" she said thinking. "Really now? Where have you heard it?" I asked elated that she let go of one of my worst failures in life. "Read it actually, on my flip board" she got her phone out of her jacket pocket and started searching through flip board. "Aha! Here it is, oh and by the way you have terrible Wi-Fi" she stated. "Just read it" I said. She stuck out her tongue at me." It says here that ‘Mr. Christopher noble owner and manager of his line of wines and beers is now taking his business international’, there's a picture of him" She turned the screen to me. I froze. It's really him, and his handsome glory. The same grey eyes black hair and chiselled jawline, he had a faint smile that showed his beautiful pearly whites. I read the label at the bottom of the picture. "Christopher noble owner and manager of the Noble Steed wine brewery", we stopped then looked at our wine bottle, what a coincidence. At least we knew why his business is going international, it was damn good wine, but now that opinion may be biased.
