I flung my arm out of bed to hit the alarm that was going off way too early for a weekend. I led there for 10 minutes before remembering I had dinner with the two new guys down the road. Seriously, how are they that perfect ? I smiled, ah the thought of them before jumping out of bed in a panic. I need to go shopping, I need something to wear. What do I wear? where are we going? I messaged Dean to ask and then jumped in the shower to get ready for shopping leaving my phone on my bed.
Once I was dressed and ready for the day I checked to see if Dean had messaged back.
Theo’s? The text read.
Good choice! See you at 6. I replied.
Off to the shops I headed to get an outfit. Theo’s restaurant is quite formal so maybe a dress? God I hate dresses. Defiantly a black dress I decided. Looking around the shop, I spot Jack in the men’s section. I should go sort Maisie’s birthday plans now whilst I have time.
“Hey!” He said with a gorgeous smile.
“So Maisie’s birthday.” I waste no time in getting straight to the point.
We spoke for what seemed like an hour although I’m sure it wasn’t, we settled on just a small group of us including Casey, Bella, James, Willow and Sean from school alone with obviously Maisie, Jack and myself. The plan is to pick her up and take her for some lunch and shopping therapy while Jack gets the house sorted and alcohol ! Jack turned 18 last week so he doesn’t need to use fake Id anymore so much easier. Then, I will tell her Jack has a present for her so we go to his and then everyone shouts surprise and we get drunk! Maisie doesn’t like a lot of fuss so even doing this much is more than she would ever want. Best not to push it with her, she doesn’t hold back when she’s pissed off.
We said our goodbyes and I carried on looking for a nice black dress for tonight. I finally found a dress, black mid length with open chest, not too tight but just flattering enough. No way am I wearing heels so I grabbed some black flats and paid before I could change my mind. Yes they will be perfect I thought on the way home.
I helped mum sort the garden as I had been promising for a few weeks now, before I knew itC it was 4:30pm, Dean was coming at 6.
“I got to go get ready, I’m out at 6.” I shouted as I ran off to have a shower.
Once I had done my hair and makeup, got changed and put money in the back of my phone case, not wanting to take a bag, I headed downstairs to mum and dad to say goodbye.
“Don’t be back late.” Dad called after me as I left myself a spare key under the mat just in case.
I stood up to find dean at that the end of my driveway. Black jeans and a tight fitting top. How is he managed to look even more perfect? I walked towards him shyly, feeling uncomfortable in a dress and nervous for the night ahead.
Dean stood back and his eyes traced my body. “You look beautiful.” He quickly said “right let’s go, Kellan said he will meet us there.” He opened the door to his car for me to get in, closing it behind me.
The drive was quick, the restaurant wasn’t far, we could of easily walked, although the wind would have ruined my straightened hair. The drive was silent apart from the music on the radio, it was a nice silence.
We pulled up to the restaurant and I got out, I wasn’t waiting for him to open my door especially with a dress on it was bad enough getting into the car without falling let alone trying to get out without flashing him.
“Wow!” Kellan’s voice way too loud for our surroundings as he got up from the table and hugged me before sitting down again. “Still a no?” He turned to Dean who was sitting down next to me.
Dean shook his head and laughed to himself. An inside joke I assume. “What’s their best dish?” Dean turned to me.
“God that’s not an easy question.” I laughed. “Depends what you like really, I have a few favourites here.” I went on to list them. “Carbonara, steak, cheese burger nachos, oh god their cheese burger nachos!” I stopped, seeing them both laughing at me. “What?” I blushed.
“You like your food don’t you?” Kellan laughed.
“Like is an understatement, I LOVE food.” I giggled.
They both carried on with their laughter and shook their heads.
We all soon decided what we would have, I’m going with steak for sure, Kellan a burger and Dean had the steak too.
“So have long have you lived here Liz ?” Kellan asked.
“Pretty much all my life.” I said sipping my coke. “How come you didn’t come to school with Dean?” I asked thinking how I hadn’t seen him or even the girls surrounding him like Dean.
“How do you know I wasn’t ?” He raised a brow.
“There was only one swarm of girls.” I quickly turned red.
“Oh, so I’d have girls swarming would I?” He teased.
Our food arrived just in time to save me from embarrassment. They wasted not time getting stuck in and neither did I. The conversation flowed nicely, they were both so easy to get on with.
“So what made you guys move here?” I asked curious.
“Job opportunities.” Dean paused. “That’s the only way I can describe it.” He glanced at Kellan who was too busy shovelling his pudding down his throat.
“My treat guys, I’ll pay and meet you out by the car.” Dean got up and signalled us to leave.
“Well come on then Liz, don’t stand and stare.” Kellan started walking toward the exit.
I thanked Dean and hurried to follow Kellan not wanting to walk out by myself.
“That was some good food.” Kellan stretched allowing me to see his toned stomach, I couldn’t look away. God I won’t be able to get they image out of my head tonight, his top covered his stomach again, the stretch and stopped, I quickly readjusted my eyes.
“So are you single?” He caught me off guard.
“Umm, y yes” I stuttered.
“Hmm good to know.” He nodded to himself as Dean got back to the car.
We all got In, Kellan letting me go in the front.
“Thanks for a nice evening guys.” I said looking ah them both in turn.
“Welcome.” They both said in sync.
As we pulled up at my house, Kellan go out to get in the front while Dean turned to me and said “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Whilst brushing the hair out of my face. I blushed knowing full well I was bright red, I rushed out of the car waving bye to them both before going inside my house.
“Liz !” Mum called from the living room, she came rushing towards me. “So Dean huh?” She said grinning like a child about to get chocolate.
“What about him?” I asked casually trying to play it off cool.
“Ok. So one, we are going round their house for his mums birthday, and two, he has a cousin your age.” She said nudging me.
“Ugh fine for the party. No to the cousin or anyone else for that matter.” I stormed off upstairs, she always tries to set me up with guys and I absolutely hate it. She best not start this tomorrow it will be so awkward with him and Dean. Speaking of which why did Kellan ask if I was single and why did Dean say he will see me tomorrow not to mean took brushing my hair out of my face. Ok so that might not necessarily mean maybe he just couldn’t see my face properly. But did he already know I would be coming to the party? I should get to sleep before I overthink it all.
