Chapter 9- Help me!

Rom opened the bag that's been on his back all this time and get the metal orb.

This metal orb made by Great Grandpa will be transport in the altar hidden in the Castle, this can be only activated by a small drop of blood from our family. With this, the Castle will be in good condition.

Rom get a small knife from his bag and cut himself. He let his blood drop on the metal orb.

Suddenly, it made jerky movements and opened…revealing a yellowish light and a black thread surrounding it.

It levitate and disappeared.

That's was…amazing!

“Rom! Isn't that amazing!”

“Quit it, It's not amazing at all.” He denied but I can feel his excitement.

“Just admit it…I know you were amazed. I can read your mind.” I teased him, and he turned red.

“We made a dea–“

All of a sudden, the Castle is shaking and a yellowish light appears.

“Rom, hide!” we panicked and hide at the stone column.

The yellowish light starts surrounding us…the boulders are flying around, the stained-glass are coming back together and the rag-like curtains are pieces together.

We quickly covered our eyes when the yellowish light explode.

Then, the shaking stopped. The Throne room is now shining and can be compared like in a Grand Ball.

This is it! This is what been described in the book. The Castle returned the way it was many years ago.

We were amazed of how it turns out, we were captivated that we didn't notice that we cross the mark.

“Wow…”

“Hey, Help me!” A unfamiliar voice was heard.

We are frightened.

“Rom? Did you asked for help?” just making it sure that I heard it wrong and it was Rom's voice.

But,

“No…” Rom honestly answered.

We are doomed!

“Let me free!” the voice.

Quickly, run!

In an instant, we are outside in the Castle.

“I thought she only listen?! Then how can she talk?!” I nervously asked.

“I don't know! The book said she can't move that's mean she can't talk!” he said while catching his breath.

“In the book, if we cross the mark or any of our family, the witch wakes up but she only listen, right?” I clarify.

“Yes.”

“Then, did we accidentally broke the curse?” If she can talk, that's only meant one thing…we broke the curse.

“No, we didn't.” his face is serious, right now. He's trying to remember where we are standing.

Actually, there's a way to break the curse. It is to disconnect the cursed circle surrounding the Witch. And, it can only be done by our family, that's why we are not allowed to go near the Witch and should keep our distance where we should not cross the mark and wakes her up.

“We are far away from the cursed circle.” Rom continued.

“Then, if we didn't… maybe it’s not the Witch that we heard. An intruder, maybe?”

“We have to go back and found out.”

“Agree.”

We went back to the Throne room. And, the Witch is still there and thanks to the Metal orb she is now looked clean.

We searched left and right…but we didn't find anything.

“Rom, did you find anything?”

“Nothing.”

Again, we searched everywhere but we found nothing.

I'm tired.

“Let's search again tomorrow, for now let us rest.” Rom suggested.

I yawned, “Yes, it's already late.”

We stay for the night in the Throne room since it's already dark outside and it’s dangerous to go home.

So, we slept…with a blanket that we brought.

“Help me!” I woken up by a dreadful voice. It's that voice again!

“Rom, Wake up!”

He groaned, “I’m awake.” he's face is angry that is because I wake him up.

“Did you heard it?”

“What?” he asked and still half-asleep.

“Help me, can you hear me?!” the unfamiliar voice again.

Rom, is now wide awake because of the voice.

Rom get his knife and look everywhere to find the owner of the voice.

“I’m here!” my attention was averted to the place where the Witch is.

“Rom, it’s beside the Witch.”

“But, we must not cross the mark.”

“We already did!”

“When??”

“When we were sleeping, I kinda moved hehe.”

Rom gave me a look, “Dumb”

Rom quickly went beside to the Witch.

“There's nothing.” He said after looking.

“I’m the one in the chair!”

Both of us gasped. There's no denying, the owner of the voice is really…the Witch!

“Rom, run!”

We were about to run however we heard a cry.

The Witch is crying…

Ester's POV

I woke up and the place is shaking. I don't know what's happening since the only thing I see is the floor.

Yes, the floor and also my thigh. What a sad life! Thank goodness, I can't feel anything if so I will be feeling neck and back pain!

“Wow…”

A child?

“Hey, Help me!” I asked for help maybe this time, they will help me.

“No…”the child replied and steps like running are heard.

What?? It refused to help me.

And, that child just replied to me! That's mean…it can hear me!

Argh…I’m going to sleep again.

…

I woke up again…Argh! How many times should I wake up and find myself cannot move?!

Wait! Where Shoes's body? It was here before, where is it?

I need to find Shoes's body and buried it! But, how can I do that if I can't move?

I'm frustrated! Why is this happening to me?! I can't take it anymore!

“Help me!”

I sounds terrible…

“Rom, wake up!”

“I'm awake.”

“Did you heard it?”

“What?”

Oh my! Someone is here…Not only that, they can hear me! Excuse my shrieking, I didn't know you were there. But nevermind that!

“Help me, Can you hear me!?” I need to confirm, coming from their mouths that they can hear me.

“I’m here!”

“Rom, it's beside the Witch.”

Witch? Are they referring to me? I haven't comb my hair and haven't take a bath for awhile maybe that's why. Yeah…maybe.

I felt someone is near me.

“I’m the one in the chair!” I said, cause I feel he's looking for something…and confused.

I heard a gasped.

“Rom, run!”

What?! They're running away again!

I need to do something where a child will stop from running away!

Right, I know!

“Huhu…”I cried.

The only way for a child to stop his movements is to see his mother cry! I'm not their mother but it’s still has the same effect on stranger.

Rem's POV

“Rom, she's crying…" Why is she crying! She's the one who cursed herself in the first place and now she asking for help?

“Maybe, her back is itchy and she wanted us to scratch it.” He joked.

Rom read my mind again.

“She can’t feel.”

“Really?” he sarcastically made a shocked look.

I ignored his sarcastic tone.

“Let me free…”

“What should we do now? Break the curse?” what if she didn't meant to put herself in this situation? Shouldn't we help her to break the curse?

“We must. Great Grandpa said to take care of her, if she wanted to be free then we must break the curse.”

“What about the Witch's last word?” Great Grandpa's book said to never break the curse and it was added, ‘even the end of the world.’ It was ordered by the Witch.

“Never mind the book, the Witch is in front of us. And, she wanted us to free her.”

Rom is right, we should consider the present than what's written in the book.

“Should we?” I asked.

“Let’s go.”

We went back to the Witch and she still keeps on crying.

“We will free you.”

She stopped crying.

“Make a gap on the cursed circle.” I instructed Rom.

“I know.” He stepped on the cursed circle and slide his shoes to the ground.

This way the Witch will be free.

The cursed circle is disappearing; a encircled dark barrier appears and quickly fading then made a poof sounds.

Rom and I back away to give space and for security.

We waited.

[Cracks]

As she slowly move her body it made a bone- cracking sound.

It's unpleasant to hear it feels like her bone is out of place.

Just by listening to it makes my skin cringe.

Eek! She moves like a zombie!

Her knees trembles as she tried to stand up then she fell on the ground. Right now, she's on all fours.

“Haa…”she pant.

Her face is towards us. “Ah...”she wanted to say something but she's muted…and half of her face is covered by her face.

“…”she mouthed but I couldn't make out of it.

She's slowly crawling toward us. And, the way she crawls is like with a broken arm and her body trembles.

Creepy!

Eek! She's now in front of us.

“Rom…she might do something to us.”

“Don't move yet…”

Ah! She's scary…

She grabs our shoulder and use it as a support for her to stand up.

She's tall…and heavy.

She wrapped both of her hands in our neck and with a stutter she said, “T–tha-nk…you.”

It's an embrace…this is the first time someone embrace me besides my brother.

It’s satisfying.

I hope we didn't made a wrong decision.
