CHAPTER 3– The Twins

I am already at home and the twin is already asleep.

I get the book in my bag, ‘Sacrilegious Love’ that I forgot to mention that I borrowed and didn’t steal.

I opened it and tried to find the author’s name but it didn’t mention it anywhere in the book. I should ask that man when I see him next time.

I start flipping the pages and read some sentences.

‘The Love that we both felt must not happen…even God loathe it.’

Whaaat? Whyy? Does everyone against their love even God dislike it?

I want to know what happened!

I read the book until I didn’t notice that I fall asleep.

“Hey! Wake up! Wake up!”

I felt a little shake in my shoulder.

“We’re late!”

The shake got aggressive.

“I said wake up!”

Sharp pain felt in my stomach cause one of the twins jumped on me.

“The beast has awoken, Rawr!” I tried to scare the twin but their face is in poker face.

Their eyes are stabbing me, what did I do?

“I’m sorry! I did eat the last banana!” this must be it cause they’ve been arguing yesterday about who ate the last banana…how did they know it’s me?!

“Don’t judge me! I need potassium, okay?!”

“So it was you?! But that’s not the problem here. We’re late!” Holly scowled.

“Yeah, we’re late!” Hal repeats what his twin said.

So it is not about the banana, but we’re late! It is already this time! So, that’s why the twin is already in their uniform.

“I haven’t cook breakfast yet!”

“Don’t worry about breakfast, we have already eaten the cup noodles.” Hal.

“Just get dress and take us to school!” Holly.

I immediately got dressed up before this guys throw tantrums.

The twin is waiting outside. I turn off all the appliances and made sure the stove is off.

I remembered the book, I put it in my bag and lock the doors and followed the twin who is in hurry.

We waited for the bus to arrive. The twin got in first and I was about to go in when Holly stops me.

“Stop right there! You can go now, we’re okay… we can take ourselves to school on our own.”

“She’s right…we’re already 10. Just visit mother in the hospital and bring her foods.” Hal.

Whaaat? Who are these mature kids, surely they are not mine!

“What are you two talking about? I’m coming with you.” I was about to reach the railing when Holly slapped the back of my hand.

“Ouch!”

“Quit treating us like a kid! Go visit Mom!” Holly pushed me and closed the bus door.

“Let’s go, Bus driver! Before that witch catches us!”

“Hey! Stop! There are still passengers!” I shouted but the bus is already far away.

In my back, I can feel all the glares of the passengers that didn’t get a ride since we are blocking the way and Holly told the driver to go.

Huhu! I know they are cussing me in their mind.

As Holly and Hal said, I brought foods and visited Mother in the hospital. We talk for a while and I mention how the twin are mature already that they push me on the bus and didn’t get a ride so that I can visit Mother.

And, I’m worried about the twin. It‘s their first time going to school just by themselves.

After visiting Mother, I go to work and got scolded for being late and got fired haha! But nothing to worry about, I just have to find another part-time.

I stumble upon the Eden Café and look for the man but he’s not here. It’s pointless asking Karen about the man cause he didn’t know his face.

Since I don’t have a job today, I use my free time to go to the Public Library.

I continued reading the book, Sacrilegious Love.

I finished it.

And I can’t explain what I feel right now!

A mix of emotions!

“Hey, What’s with your face?” I heard a familiar voice.

“Janice!” I cried.

“Shh! Library, remember?” she shushed.

She seated beside me and placed her bag on another chair. Her class just ended and her being here, must be she saw me through the window, that is always her excuse.

Janice is my childhood friend. She also loves what I love, that’s why we get along very well. Her mother is Karen, the manager of Eden Café.

“What’s up?” she worriedly asked.

“I read this BL novel and the context was terribly sad...” I whispered.

“It’s a BL!” I could see a glint of excitement in her eyes and her voice just enough for both of us to hear.

Janice is a Fujoshi, at the same time also a weeb.

“Are you done with it?”

“Yes, you can have it.” I gave her the book.

Naturally, If there’s a book that I like, I will find and follow the author’s social media account and stalk his/her timeline if there’s any update to his/her works but since the author’s name cannot be found in the book and search engine–I need to ask that man.

“Since it is from your café, can you tell your mother that I already returned it through you?” they are living in the same house so no trouble asking her to do it.

“Sure.” she’s already flipping the pages.

“After I was done reading this, let us review and talk about it.” She said without taking her eyes in the book.

She can’t really wait to read it hah.

I stayed in the public library for a while and watching Janice reading the book. Then, I got bored and it’s already night so we decided to go home.

When I got home, the twin is already at home–eating bananas

Where does that banana come from? I’m sure that I already ate the last one.

“Hey, give me some.” I got jealous of them that they were the only ones stuffing their mouth with banana so I begged them to give me some.

“No! Uncle Tate gave this to us!”Holly.

Tate is not our Uncle, they were just calling him Uncle, out of respect. Tate is a cab driver that I paid to get Holly and Hal home from school because I’m working till night.

“Uncle Tate said, Monkey likes banana…so if you see one–run as fast as you can cause they will it get from you,” Hal said, and both Holly and Hal run to their rooms.

Monkey ha! Are they saying that monkey is me?! Ungrateful brats!

I ran after them in their rooms and we were like playing tag, trying to catch each other and we chase until we are out of breath.

Just like this, I want to see them laugh although Mom is in the hospital…just for a while, I want them to forget and play like a kid…you don’t have to act mature. For I, your big sister…will let you play, act spoiled, and live the life of an ordinary kid until you grow up.

The next day, I made sure that I was woken up early so that the twin can eat nutritious food instead of cup noodles. I woke them up early too, if I don’t, they will throw tantrums that I didn’t wake them up.

After the twin has done preparing themselves, we left the house.

The twin was holding hands up to the bus stop.

The bus arrived, it was the same driver.

“Let’s take the next bus.” Hal.

Hal, who doesn’t usually make suggestions–suggested we don’t ride on that bus.

So, I got suspicious.

“Why?”

I just notice that Holly is already hiding behind Hal.

“Why are you hiding Holly?”

I peek at Hal's back but Holly just avoided my eyes.

What the hell is wrong with her?

Then, it just hit me. I feel pugnacious and yet, still calming myself down. Did that driver do something malicious to Holly?

“What happened, Holly?” I seriously asked, but she hides her head in Hal‘s back.

“Tell me. Promise. Nothing will happen to you.” still, I receive a silent treatment.

“Hal…” since Holly is avoiding me, I cannot get answers from her. But hopefully, Hal will answer me.

“Well…” he's debating to answer me since Holly keeps on grabbing Hal's uniform which means she doesn't want to let me know.

If this keeps going on, I will be the one to asks the driver what happened. Yet, let's give another chance for the twins to explain.

“Come on and tell me.”
