Inhumane Training 2

1805 Words
Delta Henry turned to the gossiping females and coldly commanded. "There's nothing to see here. Everyone, get back to the training field!" Haily and her minions got stumped by the sudden frost in his voice. They exchanged confused glances before Haily tentatively stepped out and nervously asked. "In...Instructor Henry, what's wrong? Are you upset because of Yusria? Don't worry! I'm sure she'll give up on her own once the training level rises." "I don't need you to tell me that. Now, don't make me repeat myself twice and leave!" "That...yes, Instructor Henry." Haily's voice deflated. The coldness in Instructor Henry's voice unsettled her. Did she say something to upset him? She and her gang had been openly and covertly bullying Yusria for the past few days, but none of the training instructors had ever said anything to stop them. So she was certain Instructor Henry wasn't standing up for the wolf-less trash. But if so, then why the sudden chill in attitude? Or did she understand it wrong? Haily threw Yusria a vicious glare and walked towards the training field with the group of she-wolves. Before today, not one of the instructors had ever dismissed her so easily. But because of Yusria, she was embarrassed in front of her group of followers. If she didn't get back at the sl** for embarrassing her like that in front of the she-wolves and Instructor Henry, then she would never be able to hold her head high. "Yusria Lelius, you'll pay for this!" Cold eyes swirling with malice, Haily clenched her fists and darkly vowed. On the other side, Delta Henry was pacing on the riverside with an unnatural expression on his face. Every time Yusria took a step forward, his eyes took on a vacant look as if his mind was somewhere else. His limbs would turn as still as a statue while his breathing slowed. This pattern of unnatural stillness and absentmindedness continued for a few seconds that seemed like hours before he muttered in disgust, turned, and left. Sensing the disappearance of the hawk-like eyes, Yusria looked up and she watched instructor Henry's receding back with an uncanny expression. Her brows furrowed in thought, a bright light flashing in the depths of her violet pupils as she whispered. "Finally gone?" Yusria blinked and slowly turned her head and took in her quiet surroundings. A peaceful silence, only broken by the occasional melodious chirp of songbirds and crickets enveloped the back mountain region of the training field. Thick tree trunks and dense bushes clustered on both sides of the coursing river. As the chilly autumn breeze blew by, orange-red leaves were plucked from their branches on the trees and swept in the sky before they were abandoned and slowly settled on the surface of the water. Beneath the clear surface of the raging river she stood in, schools of colorful fishes swarmed around Yusria's limbs. They nipped and swirled, sticking and rubbing against her legs as if she was their mother. "You little midgets, why can't you just leave me alone?" Yusria sighed helplessly. In the last few weeks, other than standing out like a sore outcast, Yusria had begun to notice strange things happening around her. During the mid-noon lap sessions, plants and grass would bend under her feet when she raced through the forest in the back mountains. Rocks slid out of her way and cracks and holes in the road smoothened out under her feet. At night, the night tingles seemed to whisper soothing notes to her tired body, lulling her to a restful sleep, while during the early mornings, the curious buzzes of the bees woke her. But if it were only those few incidents, Yusria wouldn't have allowed the matter to disturb her. What was unnerving was how the furious water currents seemed to magically split apart before her in streams, lakes, and rivers when she crossed them with loads on her back or shoulders. She neither felt the water pressure nor felt her clothes become heavy from being soaked. What's more, all the tiny creatures living amidst the cracks of the earth, aquatic plants, corals, and shells seemed to swarm towards her as if being drawn by an irresistible magnet. To say she was bewildered and out of sorts by the sudden strange occurrences would be a euphemism. Because in her past life, she never once experienced such things. Yusria couldn't even begin to fathom what the Delta instructors would do to her if they picked up on the unnatural phenomenon. As far as she knew, only witches, fairies, pixies, and Faes-creatures of magic manifestation-were capable of producing or manipulating such things. Not werewolves. Inspired by a strong desire to survive and preserve herself from unexpected betrayals, Yusria had even changed her surname to Lelius, meaning night. She wanted to hide herself and her abnormal abilities in the cover of darkness provided by the night. Anyways, she had already cut ties with the Dimitri family. Choosing a new surname was only a matter of time. Heaving another deep sigh, Yusria scanned her surroundings one more time before lifting her feet and crossing the river as if she were walking on flat ground. Her steps didn't falter nor did she struggle as desperately and feebly as she did before in front of the crowd of spectators. Within a few heartbeats, Yusria appeared on the other side of the bank with the thick log on her hunched shoulders and her clothes dry. It was as if the earlier scene of her drenched state was only a mere mirage. In the following months, Yusria trekked in a snowfield, battled rogues in flaming woods, and navigated through buildings set up with security lasers as part of a training plan set by the instructors. Then she was thrown into a nest of venomous snakes, angry bears, wild tigers, and ferocious eagles. In the Instructors' words, since she didn't have her wolf, they needed to place her in precarious situations where the dormant beast inside her soul would be forced to awaken. If she succeeded, she wouldn't have to worry about dragging her team down. But if she failed and lost her life, then they said she could only blame herself for having a short life span. Having experienced death once before, Yusria wanted to live long and live a life completely different from the one in her past life. She wanted to see the world, experience the wonders of the world, and know what being loved felt like. Even though her birth parents had passed away, she had hope of finding her true mate and building a life of her own with him. As such, she gritted her teeth, ignored the scornful sneers and plots of the she-wolves, and doggedly completed the extreme 'trainings' with a breath of life in her body. And to the ire of the instructors, she completed the weekly goals and evaluations without awakening her wolf. The months bled into years and more time passed. On this day, the group of she-wolves gathered in the training field of the back mountain for a final assessment before the expected arrival of the Emperor. "Da**! I can't believe this sl** is still here!" Standing on the right of Haily, a blond hair she-wolf gazed at Yusria with a hateful glance. "I know, right? If I knew it would be so hard to get rid of her, I wouldn't have wasted time scheming to make her private training sessions more difficult for her. I would've directly killed her off!" Another on the left added with equal resentment. "There's no point in lamenting now. Today is the final evaluation and this wolf-less sl** is going to outshine us again!" This was what bothered the she-wolves. The wolf-less female they'd once called trash didn't only brave through the extreme training of the Delta Instructors, but she had also grown strong. So strong in fact that they had tasted defeat and humiliation in her hands more than once. "I don't understand. How can a mere wolf-less sl** defeat us? How is it possible a wolf-less bi**h, one who is only a little better than a human, defeats strong she-wolves like us?" The blond hissed un-resignedly. Her teeth bit into her red lips until they produced blood. But the she-wolf seemed not to notice her split lip as she angrily glared at Yusria. "That's what I want to know..." The other whispered. Compared to two years ago, the auras of the condescending she-wolves had grown in strength and force. Their faces were flushed with a healthy shine and rippling muscles adorned their arms and torso. The daily three meals a day and routine training had not only restored their health to the peak but had also given them a powerful presence found only in well-trained soldiers. But where they had lacked strength before and exuded confidence while ridiculing Yusria, they now had strength but lacked confidence as they looked at Yusria with resentful gazes. They hated Yusria with a passion that surpassed even the hatred they once felt for the rogues that had violated them. And this wasn't only due to the fact that the wolf-less female had grown strong enough to confront and beat them without breaking a sweat. No, the burning hatred in their eyes was due to the breathtaking appearance of the other. Since they weren't the only ones that had received proper meals and training, Yusria had also grown strong and metamorphosized. She carried a confident and unyielding aura around her that garnered respect. Even under the harsh training environment, her complexion remained fair, and her soft and supple features glowed in the sunlight. Two strands of loose hair framed her face. The rest of her shiny ink-black wavy mane parted in the middle in two braids and coiled in the back, ending at just below her knees. Her cherry lips and pink nose, combined with her almond-shaped violet eyes made her a sight hard to ignore. What unnerved the females, even more, was her developed figure lacked the thick muscles theirs' supported even after the rigorous training she underwent. Tall and slender with barely concealed grace, everything about her pierced their eyes and made them uncomfortable. Seeing the instructors who had once been bent on kicking Yusria out of the training field repeatedly sneaking glances at her indifferent face fueled the flames of jealousy burning in the females' hearts. "Haily, we must do something. The emperor is coming in a few days. If he sees the appearance of this vixen, will we even have a chance to capture his attention?" The blond nervously shuffled her feet and, with a vicious gleam in her eyes, leaned over and anxiously whispered to the brown-haired female. Hailey looked at Yusria and couldn't help but feel restless.
