Before I can even contemplate what was just revealed to me I smell that awful perfume from before and suddenly remember where I’m at. “And just what do you think you’re doing here??” I turn to see Venessa and this time with her boyfriend of the week, Jacob. who was on the football team. How fitting. “I was invited by the visiting Alpha Apollo, if you must know” and with that remark her face filled with jealousy “Oh? And just why would he wanna be around you?” She sneered with her hands on her hips “maybe because I don’t just talk about how great of a Luna I would make him. Like you do to every Alpha that comes here, single or not” i say while rolling my eyes. Her face turns red as she looks like she’s about to jump on me but Jacob puts his hand on her shoulder “Come on, she’s not worth you breaking a nail” He says while gently taking her hand in his. “Yea you’re probably right” she checks her nails “wouldn’t want them to get ruined before the ball” and with that she nuzzles into his arm and pranced away. I have bigger things to worry about then the ball. Like whatever the Alphas are talking about and whether or not it has something to do with her dreams.

I make my way to the kitchen to find mom and Luna Rose. “Hello Luna” with a bow of my head to show respect “Oh! We were just talking about you, welcome home Astra” she pulls me into a hug which I return “I was just asking your mother if you got a dress yet for the ball. since you are of age now and could potentially find your mate” Eve howls in my head getting excited at the thought of our mate. Even thought I’m 17, I could still probably find them since I already have my wolf “I have” “oh good! I can’t wait to see it, I’m sure you’re going to look gorgeous” she says while taking my hands and giving me a warm smile. She’s the only one of her family who is kind to me. “I’ll try my best to represent our pack with pride. For you my Luna” she caught what I meant by that and nods with a smile “I would very much appreciate that Astra” “would you like something to eat, love?” My mom asks while walking to the fridge “no thanks, I made myself dinner already” “alright. Well you better head home and get some sleep cause tomorrow is your first day of school” I give a bow to the Luna and leave.

As I make my way home I think over and over about what Alpha Apollo said. Is it really possible that my dreams are warnings? And if so, from who? Why me?.

Before I realized it I’m standing in front of my house. I walk in and it feels so much emptier then usual and I can’t place my finger on why. But then Even walks through the door and I feel relieved “hey did you just get in?” Even gestures to how I’m fully dressed when usually by this time I’m in my pjs. “Yea” I yawn. Realizing how late is it. “We should go to bed since we got school tomorrow” “ugh. Please don’t remind me” Even says while stomping up stairs. I can understand his enthusiasm.

It’s the next day and thankfully there was no nightmare. But I did have a weird dream that involved being chased by a giant donut which Eve then ate and vomited a rainbow. I hopped in and out of the shower then got dressed in a loose band tee, gray zip up jacket and black skinny jeans with my converse. Then head down for breakfast “Good morning Even” my brother was at the table eating cereal and my parents already left for the day. “Hey sis. Want some?” Suggesting at his bowl “nah I’m just gonna have a smoothie” a grab a pre made strawberry and banana smoothie from the fridge “do I need to take you or are your friends coming to get you?” “They didn’t say anything so if you can that would be great!” He shovels the rest of his cereal into his mouth and we head out the door.

Middle and high schooler share the same building to make things easier and to take up less space so there’s more woods for obvious reasons. “Text me if you need a ride home, ok?” “Alright” he shouts as he’s already running for the door. I see Taylor hopping out of a silver truck not to far from where I parked with a 6’9” dirty blondie with dark green eyes and freckles like her which makes me smile. She’s always disliked hers but I find them darling. “Well, well, well” I say taking them in “is he the one” I wink at Taylor while pointing at Davon. Taylor shyly nods her head while blushing. Making both me and Davon chuckle at her cuteness. “You better treat this sweet angel right or so help me” but before I can even try to say anything I stop. Seeing the way they tenderly look at each other says it all. “Never mind” I sigh while I turn to walk away as they follow suit.

Sadly I don’t have many classes with Taylor but the day flys by and before I know it my first day is done. Taylor texted me to meet her and Davon at the ice cream place down town. Once we get there I order just a plain chocolate 2 scoops with a waffle cone while Taylor got a strawberry sundae and Davon got mint chocolate chip swirl. “So why did you call me out to be a 3rd wheel?” I say looking between them “well sorry for missing you while you were gone all summer” Taylor pouts “I was kidding Tay” I blow her a kiss “I missed you too” she winks back at me which makes us both giggle “you know I’m here too” Davon jokes “yea, yea” Taylor waves her hand but Davon grabs it and places a kiss on it. “Ew” “oh you’re just jealous” Taylor sticks her tongue out at me. After ice cream I start to head home until my dad calls me “Hello?” I pick up “Sweetie I need you to come by the pack house. It’s important.” “Uh ok” i drive that way wondering what it is.

I pull up and head in to see everyone in the lounge “what’s going on?” I look around to see my mom and dad, Luna rose, Alpha Bane And Alpha Apollo “we have decided to let you start training” Bane says dryly. “What?” I’m absolutely shocked by what I’m hearing. Alpha Bane is gonna let me train?! “You heard him” Apollo speaks next “but it’s not without a reason.” He has a very serious expression on his face as he continues “there’s a lot going on right now that we can’t fully tell you yet but just know that there might be a war coming soon” fear fills me as I have flash backs of my dream. I start to panic as I recall the scene of the battlefield but I’m brought back “Astra!” I hear my mother yell with her hands now on my shoulders “are you alright? Your face went pale and you weren’t responding” I look around the room to see everyone’s mixed expressions. I take a deep breath and wonder if I should tell them or not. “I think we should wait until something of use comes out of those dreams” Eves says “otherwise they might think we’re crazy or unable to help” I agree with her and pull myself together. “I apologize Alphas” I bow “everyone” I bow again “I’ve had a long day and this is very big news” I try to explain and Bane scoffs “if you can barely handle the mention of war then how are you going to help on the battlefield” he sneers “this is why women don’t belong there” “Alpha Bane. Please” Apollo interrupts and turns his attention back to me “I understand that it’s a lot but you can do this. I can sense the strength within you” he steps closer holding out his hand “will you be willing to help us?” I look at his hand, then him. Then around the room and nod while grasping his hand firmly. “Good. Your training starts tomorrow” “but what about school??” I say looking between everyone “you may still attend in the afternoon but in the morning you are to train” Alpha Bane states “War is more important but you do still need an education. Which is why we usually wait till after you graduate but this is a special case” before I can say more Alpha Bane leaves the room with the Luna following. Leaving me with my parents and Alpha Apollo “just so you know sweetheart, the school has already been informed so they shouldn’t give you a hard time” says my dad with a warm smile “I know it’s a lot to take in but I’m sure you’ll do great” “besides if you can deal with Papa all summer then this should be nothing” my mother laughs. Her laugh is so contagious that is makes me snicker “I guess you’re right” Alpha Apollo clears his throat and draws everyone attention to him “I will be staying for a week to make sure you get proper training” he states “I don’t fully trust Alpha Bane with that yet seeing on how against it he was. I’m afraid he might just bully you” he has a worried expression “i appreciation your concern Alpha Apollo” I smile at him which he does back. Man I wish we were in his pack. Then maybe people wouldn’t be so scared of me if the Alpha treated me like normal. Like Alpha Apollo always does.

I leave with my parents to head home and during the ride I text Taylor to meet me at my home. We pull up in the drive way just as Taylor runs up to meet me “I came as fast as I could” she huffs with her hands on her knees as she catches her breath. “You ok?” I ask while patting her back “you know I’m not that athletic. Makes me wonder why the Moon Goddess gave me a basketball star mate and a super wolf best friend” she says sarcastically “maybe it’s a sign that you should exercise more and stop trying to skip P.E.” I say sarcastically back.

We head up to my room and tell her everything that happened and I even tell her about my dreams because I know I can trust her with anything. “Do you think it’s a warning from the Moon Goddess?” “That’s what I’ve been wondering but I’m not sure because of my first dream” she gives me a look to continue on “that voice said “if you want this to stay a nightmare then you should join me”” her eyes grew wide “that means the dreams are threats to you?! Like this war won’t happen if you go to them??” “That makes sense actually” Eve chimes in “I think there’s gonna be a war either way honestly and they’re just trying to scare me into submitting. But why me? And how are they able to enter my dreams?” Taylor and I think for a moment then a loud gasp leaves Taylor’s mouth “they must have a witch!”
