Chapter 24

He is currently running right now and I hope that things go as he planned. I don’t know what will happen.

Multiple breaches?

One is enough to obliterate an elite unit. More than one? I think this country is doomed and a lockdown?

There is a question in my mind that bothers me now. Will I get out of this place alive? The creatures here are no joke.

Yes, I admire them but that doesn’t change the fact that these creatures are bloodthirsty. I am not entirely sure if all those who breached their containment unit are entirely hostile towards humans.

“Yow!” that loud familiar voice greeted us when we saw a man from afar come out from his room. That was the loud vlogger and like me, this man does not have the slightest clue what’s happening.

Well, earlier I was like that.

“Come with us,” Alexander said without hesitation. The vlogger followed us but with many questions, we can’t understand what he is saying because I am too overwhelmed by the situation right now.

Maybe questions will be answered later.

“We need to find my sister as soon as possible,” Alexander told Jose, and he still does not let go of my hand.

“What for?” Jose asked.

“Ask that later, just follow us,” he seriously said while not turning his head.

The red lights do not help with that loud blaring. It makes the situation a lot worse. I mean it’s necessary to inform the others about the extremities of the situation but it seems like that they have overdone it.

Never mind.

Getting rid of those red lights won’t contain the creatures that escaped.

“Dude,” Leon called to Alexander. “What’s going on?” he asked.

“I have the same question dude,” Jose replied.

“If you want to live follow us,” that’s what Alexander told him and I just kept my mouth shut because it won’t help us in this situation if I let it out right now.

We have something in common right now, and that is to survive. After saying that Alexander, resume running immediately.

Soon, we reached her office these two big white doors that leads us to her clinic. Alexander did not hesitate and entered the area without questioning himself.

With my hand on him, we entered the area together but we are met with an empty room. The place is already empty and it seems like that the people here already evacuated. Fear overwhelmed my heart because the hope of getting out of this place alive has been reduced to zero.

“This can’t be,” I heard him whisper. Then for the first time, he lets go of my hand, and then I did not move as I watch him scram around looking for something that is nothing there.

“Where is she?” he exclaimed, as he turns around looking for some that are not there. He tried to roam around.

I just watched him there while he roams around and all of us were genuinely confused.

“I swear that she wouldn’t leave without me,” he said frustratedly.

I feel sorry for him because he sounded so hopeful earlier and it’s painful to watch his hopes be shattered into pieces right now.

He looks at me with tears in his eyes and honestly, I couldn’t do anything. Even my feet are frozen so I cannot go near him and hug him.

“Who said that I left?” then a familiar female voice echoed throughout the room. I can imagine cricket noises echoing around here in the room.

We turned around and in a dark corner, we saw her unveil herself. My eyes widened as my heart celebrated when I saw her coming out from the darkness, it’s like that I saw a hero from my dreams.

“Sis?” I heard him asked and then he rushed towards her. This time she cried out loud while reaching for his sister, and I?

I am happy to see them reunite.

Good for him, obviously not for me, because he has the chance to see his sister again, while I don’t have. I envy them.

But there is nothing that I can do now, but accept the harsh reality that we will never meet again. In the future.

I looked away because I can’t stop but imagine that it could be us.

“I thought you left us,” he told her.

“You are still my crybaby little brother,” she uttered and I can’t help but chuckle in that little comment of hers.

“I will let that pass,” he murmured.

“Let’s go?” I told them as the blaring sound started to find its way again to my ear. Both of them turned their heads towards me. “I think it is not safe for us to stay here any longer,” I told them.

“I agree with her,” Dr. Sarah replied to me and I showed her a little glimpse of my smile.

“Thank you.”

“Follow me,” she said, and then she breaks the hug with him and I just stare at her waiting for her to show us something. But she just walked away, hoping that she will show us something that we don’t see. “There is a secret bunker that I just made for myself in case that this kind of scenario happens,” she muttered as she tries to remove something.

No one bothered to help her, because the aura that she emits told us to stay away from her, that’s why we didn’t bother her.

“There are so many questions that you have to answer for us,” Alexander said. Yes, even I have so many questions, but the death of my sister put that under the dirt, so that is something that I must ask at a later date.

That is something that I really can’t hold onto for myself.

I have to admit. There are things that I cannot handle by myself.

A little waiting will do, I guess.

“I can answer that later,” she said, and then she opened something. A trapdoor within the office, then that means the secret room that this guy is talking about is also here, then that means that we will not be found anymore.

When it comes to someone who is searching for us and honestly for that is a win-win situation.

This time my strength strangely came back so I rushed to her side so I can help her lift that trap door that will help us to open the secret bunker that will lead us to safety.

We successfully opened the door and we are greeted by the stairs that will lead us down.

“Let’s go,” she told Leon and Jose to come with us. I stayed because I don’t want to walk with the guy who abandoned my sister. I cannot handle the anger that is boiling inside me.

I let the two pass through and Alexander knew what I was thinking so he stayed by my side after the two have passed, he invited me to go down with his hand and his sister is just staring at us, waiting for us to go down.

She is the one who knows the mechanism of this door too well, I just want to let that man pass because I don’t know what my hands might do if I am seeing his face continuously. I will make sure to make him suffer from all of that.

I think he knows that too.

I grabbed his hands. I don’t if I collapse because I am still emotionally weakened by this recent event that happened to us.

He leads the way, and the place downwards was dark, so we need flashlights, thankfully our smartphones have that covered, so we just turned the flash and we proceeded on our way down.

It has an eerie atmosphere but a bunker underground is not a bad idea- no wait, this is a bad idea. The burrowers, the only class which she introduced to us, during the trip that was canceled immediately.

They can reach us here.

Especially to those who like to traverse underground, it’s not impossible because there is a high chance that they might stumble onto this place and there is also a high chance that those creatures are predatory ones.

Then just like what I worried about; we are just waiting here to die. Well, everything in this place seems dangerous, and the multiple breaches that Alexander was talking about earlier were deadlier than we thought.

“I just want to make sure,” I muttered and I know that Alexander’s sister which is Dr. Sarah is behind us and we are not stopping.

“What is it?” she asked coldly, which seems like that she is not interested. Maybe, she is just like that when she talks. I don’t know her too well, so I am unsure.

“How can we make sure that secret bunker of yours is safe,” I asked her.

“The bunker is covered by metallic plates and in times of attempted breach, we are left with no choice to activate the trap that will burn that son of bitches that is trying to eat us,” she added.

“Why can’t we just turn in on so there will be no problem later,” Jose suggested,

“It is not that simple boy, we are limited by power so we just waster power, we must conserve because we don’t know how long the crisis will take,” he added and I agree with her. Conservation is a must in times of great need.

Soon we reached the ground floor of the basement but there is yet another room inside the b- no, no, this is not a bunker but an underground cavern and honestly, I am so speechless. She did this all by herself? Impossible.

“There is our haven,” she said as she points her hand towards that house that is covered in white. No windows, doors can be easily breached. Even I, is confused about how to enter so we just let her take the lead and she just walk past us.

We just watched her carefully on how to enter that place.

None of us knows, even Alexander himself is clueless.
