Chapter 23

I opened my eyes, and I gasped for air. I quickly got up and I looked around only to find myself still inside my room. There is nothing but the same furniture and the same colors.

The only thing that did not change.

It was still dark.

I grabbed my chest.

I still feel sad.

It won’t bring back my sister alive. I am still empty inside.

I stood up.

So, it was all nothing but a nightmare. But for some reason, I can still feel the sting of that scythe in my neck. I can still feel my heart rapidly beating.

Also, my throat is really dry, a glass of water will do.

I walked slowly towards the fridge to get myself a small bottle of cold water. The light inside the fridge turned on when I completely opened it.

I grabbed the water and I opened the bottle. I quickly put it onto my lips and chugged all the water inside it. It feels like that it is still not enough for me so I ope-

Wait...

I think I am hearing something. From the outside. So, I slowly closed the fridge and I decided for myself to check what’s going on outside. It seems like that I isolated myself inside the room for too long.

“What’s the commotion about this time?” I asked myself while I walk to the door. I slowly opened it, and I take a peek.

What greeted my eye is the color of red.

What?

Red means something is out of control.

I closed my door immediately, fearing that I will bring myself into trouble when I opened that door for a couple of moments.

I quickly grabbed my phone and unlocked it. I opened the messaging app. I quickly dialed his number and put it on my ear.

The line rang, meaning that his phone is on the line, up and running.

But no one answered.

Ugh, where might you be right now?

I need you...

“Sorry, please dial the number again or leave a message,” the default voice said after the call was unsuccessful.

I don’t have any choice but to leave a message and leave this room to find the others.

‘Hey, something’s up... where are you?’

I quickly pressed the send button and I waited for it to be delivered. When I saw the checkmark circle was filled with gray color, I put my phone inside my pocket. It means that it was successfully sent.

But I still am thirsty, so I stayed for a little while more and grabbed a bottle of water, and quickly chug it down.

Ugh...

I rushed to my door and ran outside, I don’t what their room is, but I will still find them. So, I will start to knock on doors here. There are five of us... we are only four now... make it three, I don’t want to see that guy again in front of my face because I don’t know what I might do if faces him again.

My only goal is to find my friend Alexander.

It will be convenient for me if he replies to-

Speaking of the devil.

I saw him in the hallway running towards me and it seems like that he is in a rush right now. So, I closed my door and I run towards him.

“Where have you been?” I asked him immediately.

“I was on my way here,” he answered.

“Oh, I was trying to call you earlier,” I informed him and he pulled out his phone and his eyes widened when he saw the miss calls. “Never mind about that, what’s more, important now, is what is happening here?” I asked him.

He looks at me.

“Mu-“

“Hmm?”

He looks at me and it seems like that he is hesitant to tell me what’s going on inside this place.

“Go on tell me,” I told him.

“Well, so you see, that creature,” he said and I raised an eyebrow. The same creature that killed my sister.

“What about it?” I asked him.

“It released the other dangerous creatures in secret and now there are multiple breaches, and the whole country is going on a lockdown,” he told me.

“What?” I exclaimed.

“That’s what I heard,” he told me.

“Then that means we are going to be stuck here?” I asked him.

“Basically, until the creatures that breached their containment facilities are recaptured again,” he answered me honestly.

“Well, that is still troublesome,” I told him.

“It’s a crimson code situation, meaning that it will be very dangerous for us here, we need to go inside one of the evacuation facilities inside this place,” he told me.

“I will not go there,” I told him with conviction in my voice.

“Why?” he asked me.

“We got out there so easily and quickly, and if we can do that it is only a matter of time, when a creature from the outside gets in,” I replied and I am telling him the truth because I am really worried about that. “It’s like we are just there waiting to be killed or eaten by that something that will get inside,” I added and I stare at him straight in the eye.

It seems like that I made my point here between us and it is still processing inside his mind.

“So? You still want to go there?” I asked him.

“I- I am not sure,” he said. “Let’s go to my sister, I am sure that she knows someplace where we can be safe,” he added and the hope quickly gushed inside his heart.

That was fast, and it shows that he is a quick thinker and I am impressed with what he can do.

“Let’s go,” he told me and he grabbed my hand and we began to run.

He is rushing this one and I am not blaming him for that.

This situation is very dangerous for all of us, and I don’t want us to get killed because one of us is very annoying on some parts.

I stared at him. I smiled because I just now realized that he is always there for me, ready to be my night and shining armor for everything. He can save himself without me, but still, he chose to save me first.
