Chapter 11

I felt flattered when Dr. Sarah said that.

“Thank you,” I whispered as I hid my face slowly because I can feel my cheeks getting hot, means that my cheek is getting red.

“So, you don’t have any red coded creatures, but a more dangerous one?” Jose asked the researcher.

“I can’t exactly answer your question as there are so many confidential files that still needs to be kept in the dark, this is the only one that I will disclose to you two, and keep in mind, that there is other four than this one, and I am sure that you will be amazed on what they can do,” she said.

I don’t what’s waiting for us at the end of this hallway but I can tell for sure that I am hype for this one.

“It’s ironic isn’t it,” I heard Jose saying that.

“You can always turn back, if you are scared,” woah, the doctor is calm but she is burning bright. She is spewing flames.

“I did not say that I am scared,” I heard Jose saying that embarrassed. If I were him, I should have kept my mouth shut.

Then he should be more thankful that the doctor has decided to share a common secret between us.

A high valuable data, as she said. Crimson code. I am sure that only my hand in my fingers can count.

“We are here now,” she announced and my mind came back to reality as soon as I hear those words from here.

I am so excited now.

“Behind this door, and don’t touch anything,” she said. “You will see a creature, they will show the fullest dangers and wonders of the terra formers,” she said and now I heard enthusiasm in her voice.

Woah...

I looked behind me and I noticed that my sister and her boyfriend is gone now.

What?

“Where are they?” I whispered to myself. But I don’t want to tell the researcher because it will ruin her mood and she might cancel revealing this secret to us. I don’t want that to happen.

I am sure that my sister has turned her back, with her boyfriend because they are scared to see the what lies behind this door.

And it seems like that Dr. Sarah does not know, that they are gone and I will just point out after we see this creature.

I promise this to myself.

She pulled out a set of keys from her side, and she turned her back to us and she opened the lock door. It seems like that this door requires a special kind of key.

We heard a beep, and the red blinking light turned green after that beep, and we heard the door opens. She pushed it slowly to enter the room.

I can imagine my eyes have the shape of stars in my pupils.

She entered the room and she closed the door after she entered. My hopes skyrocketed down when I saw her did that because we assumed that she is still not allowing us to enter the room.

A crimson coded creature.

A creature that can spell the end of this world and I am curious to know what it looks like. Especially a burrower type of this creature and there are four others. I don’t know if the others are all crimson coded too.

As I am about to lose all hope about us seeing the creature inside the room.

We heard the door open again.

We looked at it and we saw the researcher coming out.

“Come in, and be reminded that don’t touch anything,” she said. She reminded us.

“Yes,” we said in a low voice and I looked back again and saw my sister still gone from the group. It’s obvious that she is not giving enough care to us to not notice that the two of us is missing. Especially that we are just five. But now we are just three.

I am sure that she is not expecting for them to go astray form her.

But I should worry on that later.

We entered the room, and as soon as we entered, it was nothing like we have seen outside of this room.

It’s big, no this is not just a room but a whole coliseum. With many red laser grids for security measures, I guess.

Then the cage glows blue, like the plasma barrier that covers the whole country.

I mean this should be expected from a creature that is color coded as crimson.

Yes, I should not expect less from it.

The end of the world is not just a joke.

It’s a whole catastrophe. But I only care to the creature itself so no worries.

With that I continue to look around, to find the creature.

“Where is it?” Alexander asked for me.

“In plain sight,” she said as she presses some buttons on the panel.

“But we don’t see anything,” Jose said.

I take a look once again, but there is nothing. I don’t see any terrain that could serve as the habitat of the animal. A burrower class. From what I have seen, they all have terrain to burrow on, but this enclosure...

It does not contain one so I am equally curious on the creature and the design of this enclosure itself.

Why though?

“Now,” she said and then the big spotlight behind us started to give out a bright violet light. “Look again,” she said.

Woah! A large shadow floating around in the background I am so curious, what does it look like.

“I have a question,” I told the researcher.

“Spill your question,” she said. I took a deep breathe as I gather my courage to ask this question.

“What is the name of this specimen? And I don’t understand why is it considered in the burrower class,” I stated my question.

“Crimson Coded, TF – 03, also known as the ghost,” my jaw dropped when I heard the name again, and the code number means that this is the third one.

“So, right off the bat you caught a crimson coded one, why keeping it a secret then?” Alexander asked.

“Ever heard of the big explosion in Moscow?” she asked us.

“You mean that bombing in Moscow? A one bomb detonated that destroyed a whole city in seconds,” I said.

“That one,” she told me. “You sure know your history young lady,” she said. Then I know that there is something that flatters me when I hear those words from her. “It was not a terrorist attack, but the information was disclosed by the world government to avoid global panic and witnesses were euthanized,” she said.

Euthanized?

Does she mean that the ones who saw it was killed?

Geezas.

I can’t imagine...

“It was caused by this guy,” she said. “It has the ability to destroy a city in matter of seconds and what happened there still remains a mystery to us and we are eager to know, sadly despite being one of the first that has been captured by this organization, many questions are still left unanswered to this day, as for it having included in the burrower class, the answer is simple. It stays dormant underground for months in its hibernation period,” she explained.

I was bewildered by its body structure and how it turned into that ghost state in the first place.

Just by looking at the shadow, it has the size of a human, but not humanoid in shape. Which really put a question inside my mind, how did it destroy the city?

It killed thousands, maybe even a million, in just a few seconds. I mean its understandable if this creature has something to its sleeve like summoning an atomic bomb from nothing, because that can really explain What happened in that poor city.

Its shadow shows us a bulky floating creature with what it seems barnacles stuck to its body, it’s so wonderful to see a creature that invisible to my naked eye. It possesses supernatural abilities, and the best example for that is that it is levitating.

Which made me to wonder what creature it originated from.

It is the question of the day for me. I need to know.

“Do you know what animal is this?” I asked Dr. Sarah.

“That dear, is another question remained unanswered by Science,” she said.

Understandable, there is nothing to see in the first place but still it let me down knowing that there is something that is left unanswered.

That is not the right thing to say because everything was unanswered.

“It can make you explode, when you enter its enclosure,” she said about it but its not the answer that I am seeking for but that’s terrifying to know.

“What is the body count?” Jose Boldly asked Dr. Sarah.

“What do you mean?” I asked him.

“The number of people that they have killed for the experimentation with this one,” he answered my question, and as just as loud he is, he is not holding back with his words.

I can feel the tension building up between us.

“One hundred and four victims,” she said.  

I was more than surprised that the researcher deliberately answered her question.

“That’s m******e,” I heard Alexander said, and I agree to him because that many killed bodies by that creature is much more terrifying.

I don’t know anything about their ways in this country but I am starting to get terrified.

“They were all convicts and sentenced in death sentence from various country,” she explained.

Jose kept quiet and I am thankful that he kept his mouth shut because it becomes more unsettling in that kept on.

“How did you catch it?” I asked, and I am trying to change the mood between us all.

She looks at me and I felt so nervous.

“It might be invisible but that my dear still has physical body, and we have to use special kind of devices such as this one to detect it,” she said.

“Did it exit it’s invisible state?” I asked again.

“So far, we didn’t see its actual appearance, but we are trying to deactivate its code to reveal it-“

Suddenly a loud emergency alarm came blaring out and the lights here turned red. For a moment I felt so terrified but I was relieved when I saw that this place is still online meaning that TF – 03 is still in the enclosure.

But something hits me suddenly which made me feel more nervous.
