Riley “Not broken.” I announced loudly as the nurse wheeled me down towards where Elliot was waiting. But the smile died on my lips almost instantly. Elliot wasn’t alone. Two men were with him. Their shirts had a kind of crumpled , well worn look about them, as did their faces. Policemen. Detectives no doubt. Not that it was unexpected when an Olympic swimmer walked into a hospital saying he and his girl friend had been kidnapped and forced to jump into the ocean and swim for their lives. The police weren’t about to send just anyone. “Hey.” Elliot peeled himself away, taking the wheelchair from the nurse with a smile. “Did you say nothing is broken?” He bent and pressed his lips to mine.
