Riley “Hello?” I had picked up my phone automatically, not even bothering to check the caller I.D and instantly regretted it when a deep male voice called my name from across the ocean. A voice I knew well. Sighing I settled myself back against the lounger, my peace and quiet shattered. I had only come here because Elliot’s words from the lake had been hovering in the back of my mind. And I had wanted to clear my head.  Concentrate on what was important and forget the rest. I had been doing a pretty good job of it as well until my phone had rung and I had stupidly picked up without looking at who it was. Carl’s voice broke my vibe instantly.  “Hello?” He sounded almost out of breath, as if he had been running . Which I know was silly. “Hello Riley?” Closing my eyes I finally answered.
