Banquet

Suddenly, George’s phone rang as he was about to speak. When George heard what the person on the other line stated while he was on the phone, he was becoming more and more depressed by the second. To find out what caused Pixy Media’s bankruptcy, Chloe makes a few calls at her side. She was so distracted that she overlooked Stanley’s several facial expression changes as he stared at the phone. “He can't get a good result from his friend-LW” When Stanley read the text on his phone, he couldn’t help but contemplate the possibility. His spine quivered at the thought, and a cold sweat began to form on his back. “Make sure they are never left alone together. It'll be dangerous for her, so don’t tell her – LW” Another message appeared as he was pondering to choose whether or not inform, and it scarred him. He gasped and decided against it, doing as instructed after notifying Chloe’s older brother, Paul Martin. Chloe turned to see the odd face. She peered at him, her eyebrows arched. Before Chloe could question Stanley, George responded in a distressed tone, “Eaton doesn’t know what occurred either.” Chloe abruptly diverted her focus from Stanley to George and groaned at his dejected and worn-out expression. “Ok! Go and rest, take care of your health. I’ll handle this matter after having a discussion with my brother,” she told him. Her serious stare stopped him in his tracks before he could object to her request, so all he could manage was a defeated nod before walking away. When Stanley saw an opportunity, he offered to send George on his way. She nodded as well after giving it some thought, then made some calls to get some information before speaking with Paul. Even George was frustrated since he was helpless, so he sighed and followed Stanley out of office. George pulled out his phone and made a sombre call. “How did things go?” “Did you find him?” he demanded angrily as soon as the call was answered. The man on the other line replied, “No, boss, he has been MIA for the last two weeks after landing in Western Europe, especially Germany.” Before George could speak, he interrupted, “Rest assured, boss, probably he might be dead as now, if he would have not obtained the antidote within first three days of intake and as far as we know he hasn't seemed aware of his poisoning.” After a brief moment of relief from the response, George hung up with the instructions to get the proof if he is dead. Only if he was certain the person was actually dead could he feel reassured. He will then have an infinite amount of time to carry out his scheme. Chloe was frustrated when she couldn’t locate any vital information regarding Pixy Media’s bankruptcy despite having made some calls. She made the decision to go find Paul because she had many plans for Saxon Ellis, a rising star, and had invested a lot of money in that. The door suddenly opened, and two figures appeared just as she was ready to leave. They are her close friends, Abigal Smith and Susan Bones. After a few days, they finally ran into her and promptly gave Chloe a bear hug and sat down. Then Chloe asked someone pour a cup of coffee for all. They chatted about their life for a long time on these days. After dropping George off, Stanley returned to see Chloe with her friends, so he went to ask Paul for guidance. He was little shocked when he saw the figure emerge from Paul’s office door. It’s Simon Brown, Liam Wulfric’s personal assistant. ‘I’m curious what brought him here,’ he thought. Simon nodded to Stanley as he waited outside and then asked, “Is Ms. Chloe free? I’d like to meet her.” After a brief pause, Stanley asked him to wait until after their appointment with Paul because Chloe was currently hosting guests. Simon waited in the waiting area while nodding. “What brings you here?” When Paul noticed Stanley coming into the room, he questioned him. He began by expressing his opinions on the predicament and the anonymous messages he had received. “It is undeniably Liam Wulfric’s work. Only he has the ability,” Paul remarked, and Stanley's jaw dropped in disbelief. But he asked respectfully, “Mr. President, when does he have the power to suddenly ruin a publicly listed enterprise like Pixy Media?” “Don’t underestimate Liam’s capability,” he commented lightly upon hearing Stanley’s silly question. “Not only his only assets Wulfric Group and Phenomenon Internationals, but we must also consider his personal influence and connections. But I think it should have something to do with the banquet they organized tomorrow,” he said after pausing. Stanley nodded and asked what to do about Simon’s request to meet Chloe, which he left up to Chloe to decide. After collecting his answers, he left to tell Chloe about Simon’s visit. He first walked to the waiting area where Simon was waiting for a response. He saw Simon on the phone as soon as he reached the reception area. When he observed Simon’s anxiety and glum expression, he scowled. He then went in silence to Chloe’s workplace. He heard the sounds of ladies at the door, so he gently knocked and opened the door to enter. “Simon is here and wants to meet you, President Chloe. What ought should I do?” He waited for her response after asking. She probed him further, “Did you know the purpose?” But he simply shook his head. Chloe looked at her pals Abigal and Susan after giving it some thought, and they didn’t complain. As a result, she asked that Stanley to let Simon in. Once Stanley left, Abigal couldn’t help but wonder, “What do you think, Coco?” to Chloe. She shook her head in the no and pondered the same thing. “Ok! We’ll find out shortly,” Susan replied. The moment voice of Susan fell the office door was opened following the knock, Stanley and Simon—who was wearing a dejected expression entered. For a brief while, Chloe was taken aback to see Simon in that state. His eyes were crimson and filled with an eerie sorrow, and his hair was somewhat dishevelled. Even Abigal and Susan sensed something wasn’t right but chose not to delve into because Chloe was still waiting. After giving it some thought, Simon issued three invitations to each of them, requiring them to attend. He didn’t continue speaking after that as he turned and walked away. “What was Liam thinking by inviting all of us to his banquet?” Susan who couldn’t control her temper asked him when he was at door. Simon’s whole body tensed up as he heard Liam’s name, and he responded to them in an uninterested tone, “Mr. Wulfric not even in country,” even without turning back. Everyone in the room was surprised by this statement. After stating so, he left right away without giving them a chance to respond. He had already departed the company by the time they returned their senses. “What exactly was it?” The hush was successfully broken when Abigal asked. Instead of answering to Abigal’s question, Chloe assigned Stanley the assignment to determine if Simon’s claim was real or not: “Go and check whether it is true or not.” “Not necessary,” The door to Chloe’s office burst open when Paul’s voice rang, and he walked inside. Chloe raised an intrigued eyebrow as she threw a wondering glance towards her brother. Paul chuckled then said, “I checked that and Liam was last seen at Frankfurt, Germany two weeks ago. Since then, he is not seen anywhere and not returned to Dastiylia too.” Everyone was stunned by his words, especially Chloe. She claimed she didn’t care about him frequently since the day she divorced him, but right now she was experiencing a little pang in her heart. She got a nasty feeling about it, and it’s bothering her. But it only lasts a moment, and she swiftly hides, returning to her usual uncaring demeanour.
