Chapter 08 | After Training

"Sir! This is the live bodycam footage of one of the supervisory division staff," said someone who turned Wolfe and Sergei's eyes to the main screen of the room. There, the well-equipped Awakened from Han's guild had managed to repel the attacking Abyss, the commands making them even more coordinated in keeping the Abyss from escaping. After a short battle, a person from the guild came up to the supervisory division staff on duty there and said, "Hey, you! We want to delay the closing of the rift, Han guild wants to take the resources inside first," hearing that the guide of the division staff who was in the command room turned his eyes to Wolfe. The conversation continued without any moderation from within. "The reason?" the staff asked. The Awakened replied in a harsh tone, "Ha?! People from AGF don't know what business they're in, surely it's for mana stone lah, what the heck!". "There are always individuals like this in the Awakened world. Although, they know the consequences of going against the federation here," Sergei thought to himself. "Let them, as long as they can withstand the Abyss," said Wolfe. He then stood up from his chair and headed out. "Sergei, take over," was Wolfe's short and clear order to Sergei without questioning his master. As Wolfe exited, Sergei returned the salute with the same bow he had given to Jyu. "Get on with the job!" Sergei exclaimed. ... The alarm finally stopped, after a few minutes of constant ringing, silence fell on Jyu's room. He sat on his bed meditating, trying to repeat the lessons he had received from Yuna. Jyu focused himself and started removing mana from his body, he thought, "Focus, calm down, remember what happened earlier." Right in front of him was a can of drinks that had been finished, the can was placed right on top of a small plastic stool. After successfully manipulating mana into his hand, he tried to replay his latent ability. He began to raise his hand and point at the can making it like a finger gun. The mana that he had manipulated began to move to his fingers, and. *PHEW* *CLANK* The same sensation but not as strong as the first, as if there was a force pushing the wind through between his fingers. In a split second, the blink of an eye, the can was crushed in a circular pattern that spanned throughout the width of the can. Jyu looked at his target and said, "So, my affinity is not wind nor pressure but a combination of the two, wind and pressure, if you say it might be similar to force." "Maybe that's why the training dummy cracked, because I shot a force with a small point, so the armour couldn't spread the impact it received," Jyu continued as he looked at the can. "Oya oya. I can't believe my favourite grandson is training here," said a familiar but undisclosed voice. Jyu immediately checked his surroundings, and saw his grandfather relaxing in a chair right at the end of his room. Jyu didn't understand at first, but when he saw his grandfather smiling, he asked, "Grandpa? How long have you been here?" Wolfe replied, "Just now, about three minutes?" From that statement, a question arose for Jyu, " Isn't the door—." His words were immediately interrupted by Wolfe, "Who said grandpa came through the door?" he said with a grin. Without realising that the window of his room was wide open and Wolfe's position was also close to the window, he argued, "Grandpa is not the age to do something like that." Wolfe replied, "Hahaha! I'm still young, don't get me wrong." They both laughed, Wolfe smiled happily at his grandson and asked, "Jyu. Do you want to be Awakened like your mum or your grandfather?" "I don't know. What do you think?" he asked Wolfe. A little hesitant to answer because of the conflict within his heart, he opened his mouth and said, "Even though grandpa raised you, he won't force you, your mum would have the same answer, follow your heart, Jyu." "BRANCH CHIEF WOLFE, EXPECTED AT COMMAND CENTER," the announcement from the sound system signalled Wolfe had to leave Jyu and return to his duties. "I'll leave you to it," Wolfe said. Jyu was left alone in his room, and he chose to lie down on the soft mattress while thinking about the future.
