Adrian's POV I stared off into space incredulously as the taxi my wife had entered disappeared around the bend. My wife. Why didn't that sound as strange as it ought to? Despite the pressure from all sides to get married, I never intended to give it any thought so soon. And if I ever did, I never would have imagined my future wife to be a hyperactive little trouble maker. I had gotten used to the type of women in my circle. Elegant and refined on the surface and calculative beneath. I had come to accept that those women—and consequently my future wife—would only be interested in my status and wealth. Never in a hundred years would I have thought of marrying someone who vowed to take care of me. I stared down at the crumpled notes in my hand, and a disbelieving chuckle escaped me.
