Lucy's eyes lost focus. Even though it had been five years since she had felt his hot kiss, it still made the bad memories of the past resurface effortlessly.
His kiss was fierce and hurried, as if he was trying to confirm something.
Lucy's heart ached badly. She had once loved him so much, but he hadn't even bothered to spare her a glance.
After she had tried so hard to let him go and get far away from him, he had come to bother her again!
What gave him the rights to disrupt her life like this? She was done with him. She had already let him go, hadn't she?
Tired of it, Lucy bit him. She immediately heard him groan and tasted blood in her mouth. Arthur had no choice but to loosen his grip on her because of the pain.
Taking advantage of that chance, Lucy shoved him away. "You've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not Lucy or whoever."
She walked backwards on her high heels while speaking.
Without turning back, Lucy started running toward the exit of the parking lot. She turned around once, but she saw Arthur standing still where he was.
However, the smile on his lips made her heart stop a little.
The look in his eyes made him look as if...he was torturing his prey.
Lucy gritted her teeth and ran as fast as she could. Only when she reached the side of the road did she gulp for air. Her heart was pounding wildly.
'I escaped!' she cheered inwardly. However, she felt like crying.
She had gone to so much effort to hide from him and finally managed to live a peaceful life, so why did he have to appear in front of her again?
All of a sudden, a car's blinding headlights shone on her, and a Bentley slowly drove towards her. In the sun, the car's body reflected the light sharply, scaring Lucy. She hurriedly stepped backwards, nearly being knocked to the ground.
The car window slid down slowly, exposing Arthur's mature and solemn face. His gaze was fixed on her.
Arthur hadn't expected her to pretend to not know him and look so convincing at it too. He had nearly believed it himself.
"Lucy, don't even think of running away."
Lucy wouldn't go with it. Just as she straightened up to run away again, she suddenly felt a sharp burst of pain in her ankle.
"Ouch." She doubled over in pain and cold sweat broke out on her forehead.
Arthur frowned slightly. When his gaze fell on her swollen ankle, his expression froze.
However, before he could get close, Lucy's tearful voice stopped him in his tracks. "Arthur, get away from me!"
He stood there blankly. "Why, are you going to stop pretending you don't know me now?"
"..." Lucy didn't expect herself to shout his name in her fit of anger, doubling her pain.
She couldn't avoid him anyway, so Lucy bent down to take her high heels off. Her fair and tender feet were revealed, shining milky-white under the sun and making Arthur narrow his eyes.
Lucy had been wearing a pair of high stiletto heels, so she must have sprained her ankle while running earlier. Only then did the intense pain hit her.
Soon, he held her tiny foot in his large hands, and Lucy immediately gasped from the pain.
"You sprained it." Arthur frowned while kneading her foot. He twisted it with a c***k, and Lucy nearly cried from the pain.
Lucy felt an intense burst of pain in her ankle as she looked at Arthur, whose eyelids were lowered.
"Get your hands off me. We're already divorced and we have nothing to do with each other."
She pleaded in a low voice. She only wanted to get as far away from him as possible.
Hearing that, Arthur sneered. Was she not aware of the situation she was in? She had lied to him first, so how dare she run away?
"Lucy, I didn't sign the papers. If you continue making trouble, do you believe I'll punish you right here?!"
"That Lucy from five years ago is already dead. Are you still unwilling to let me go?"
Lucy teared up at once and her lips trembled as she finally burst out.
Why did he still have to humiliate her that way? Was it because she had suggested the divorce?
Arthur was nonplussed as he looked at Lucy, whose eyes were filled with tears that could roll down any time.
In those three years, he had never seen Lucy cry. He had seen more of that seductive smile she used to get in his good books.
Now that Lucy was being so resistant towards him and refused any sort of contact with him while looking so miserable, why did it make him feel...so angry?
"Did I allow you to leave? Did I agree to the divorce? Lucy, who do you think you are?"
Arthur was a little furious. Over the past five years, he had gone from feeling helpless towards the start to realizing his loss towards the end. He had realized how important Lucy was to him.
After so much difficulty, they finally met again, but she was repeatedly trying to deny any connection to him!
"What about you? What gives you the right to boss me around? Arthur, I'm begging you to let me go. I'm really tired of all this."
"You..." Looking at Lucy, whose eyes were red-rimmed, Arthur felt a burst of rage in him, but also a strong feeling of helplessness and disbelief.
Lucy was no longer the same person she was five years ago. The present Lucy didn't even want to look at him. Could she really hate him that much?
She had to. If she didn't hate him, she wouldn't have wanted a divorce back then even while she was pregnant.
A thought struck Arthur. "You were pregnant when you left. Where's the child?"
His hands, which were hanging by his sides, were tightly clenched. He was anxious.
"Child?" Lucy looked as if she had heard the funniest joke ever. "The child's gone. Arthur, you were the one who said you didn't want it! You said that even if I got pregnant, the child would only have one ending!"
Her shrill accusations hurt him so much that he couldn't say a word.
"You aborted it?" Arthur hadn't gotten his senses back yet. A fierce look came into his eyes. "Lucy, how could you?"
Lucy was stunned. She didn't know if she was hallucinating, but she actually saw pain and anger in Arthur's eyes.
Even so, it was too bad.
It was too late!
Looking at the man in front of her who had grown more mature, she couldn't help but feel affected. However, her reason told her that she couldn't.
The moment she chose the same path she had chosen back then, she would be embarking on a path of no return. How many more years could she afford to waste?
Lucy wiped away her tears. Barefooted, she gritted her teeth and wanted to leave.
"Lucy, I won't allow you to leave!"
Arthur grabbed her wrist with a fierce gaze.
He took a deep breath and said, "We're not divorced. Since you aborted the child, you have to give me another!"
"You've lost your mind... ah!" Lucy's cries were drowned out by his kiss.
He dumped her into the car and locked the door.
