Chapter 6

1060 Words
Lucian “Please!” I hear the voice again. I turn around in panic mode, the person sounds so fragile. I look around the whole room, but I cannot see a thing. Why can’t I smell her? Is it all in my head? But as I give up, I notice a small bulge on what seems like a bed. I walk slowly towards it, the wooden floor screeches due to my weight. I bend down and take the torn blanket away from the bulge. I gasp at the sight before me, a tiny person, a tiniest lady, lies there. Her breathing so faint, it’s like she will give up on life any moment from now. Her dress is covered in blood, weirdly I can’t smell it. I kneel so that I can take a good look at her. She looks extremely pale, her eyes are closed. I can see her shivering. My heart feels so hurt all of a sudden. How come she is here all alone, hurt like this? Is this the reason why Caleb’s heart was beating so rapidly? How could they let such a young girl all alone in this godforsaken attic? Thank goddess I came here, she would have died by morning. I feel so enraged, why did they have to capture a human and torture her this much? She needs my help, I can’t just let her die. I wrap the blanket around her, and I pick her from the bed, the attic is so small, it takes me a while to make my way outside its small door with her in my arms. Where do I take her now? I can’t alert this pack because if they left her to rot in there, what guarantee do I have that they will help her. The only way is to take her to my room, then from there I will decide what to do. I feel her small hand holding tightly on my shirt. I pull her closer to my chest and I feel her muscles relaxing, she even let’s go of my shirt. Poor little thing, she is so tiny. She looks malnourished, it’s like she hasn’t eaten for days. My heart bleeds for her, I am so angry and enraged. I will make them pay when I find the person who has actually done this. I open the bedroom door with one hand, while the other I use to hold her tightly, yet carefully. She is so light, I can even carry her for hours with just one hand. I have never seen someone this tiny in my life. Her face looks old enough but her body, is just too small. She must have really suffered. I place her on the bed and cover her with the duvet, she needs the warmth. She also needs a bath urgently, the blood is all over her, but how will I do it? I don’t want to invade her privacy, I am not cut out like that. An idea comes to mind immediately, I mind link Diane my female warrior. Thank goddess I came with her. Within minutes, she knocks at my door, I open it and explain everything about this strange tiny human. She picks her up from the bed, cleans her up in the bathroom, whereas I remove the bedsheet because it’s stained of blood already. I look in the wardrobe, and fortunately, I find a clean one, I make the bed again. I hand Diane a sleeping robe so that she can clothe her. She performs first aid on her and brings her to bed. “Thank you, Diane.” I say when she offers to leave. “It's nothing Alpha. But please may I ask?” she asks. “Ask away.” I say. “Who is she, and how did she end up with such a deep cut on her thigh?” she asks concerned. “Thigh? I don’t really know Diane.” I answer her and in detail explain how I got to find her in the attic. “It’s so animalistic of them, Alpha, poor thing. She looks so innocent. She is wolf less, I presume because there is no scent on her.” Diane says. I just nod, looking at the girl sleeping peacefully. She looks totally different after the bath. Different in a good way. “She really needs food badly, Alpha. She must have gone hungry the whole day.” Diane explains. “As for the wound, I have dressed it properly and there is no sign of infection. What she needs now, is food and a lot of rest.” She adds. “Thank goddess I came here with you, Diane. You are my best warrior, thank you, I will take it from here now.” I say. I am amazed by my own actions. Whatever draws me to this stranger, I don’t even know. What I know is that I want to take care of her myself, I want to make sure the person who did this pays, with their life. “Alright Alpha, make sure you give her that injection I placed on top of the kit. It will help her rest better.” With that, she leaves the room. She promises to check on her in the morning. I walk back beside the bed. I kneel beside her and inspect her small face carefully. “Who are you?” I say more to myself. She looks so innocent, who could dare harm such an innocent person. I raise my hand and tuck the strand of blonde hair away from her face. Immediately I see her eyes flickering, and shortly she opens her eyes. She widens them in shock when she finds me looking at her, she tries to get up, but she can’t, she opens her mouth to say something but no words come out. I realize that she is afraid of me. She starts to tear up. Seeing her tears stirs something in me, something that I cannot really explain. “No, please don’t cry.” I beg her, feeling a lump building in my throat. “I won’t hurt you, alright.” I assure her, wiping her tears away. Why am I like this? I have never been this gentle before. Her brown eyes seem to be speaking something to me.
