CHAPTER TWO

CHAPTER 2

At the Evans house, Charlie was twirling round and smiling in front of her best friend, Kara and her mom, Alicia. Alicia asked Kara, "How long has she been doing this? Cause I walked in on her like this."

Kara rolled her eyes, "Ever since she has been set up on a date with her crush, Max."

Alicia was surprised, "Oh my God, is it Max she has liked since kindergarten?"

Kara nodded, "That's the story, yeah."

Alicia smiled, "No wonder she's this happy, Charlie wouldn't rest about Max since she was young. Sometimes I feel they were destined to be together."

Kara yawned, "I hope." She looked at Charlie and yelled, "Can you stop with the twirling now Charlie! I really need to go home to my sister. Remember, I can't leave her alone."

Charlie stopped and went to her, "Oh thank you for being with me Kara....oh bless Olivia, she has really made me smile."

Alicia asked, "And who is Olivia?"

Kara replied quickly, "Max's twin sister. She was the one who planned the date."

Alicia nodded and Charlie said, "Come on Kara, let's go pick my outfit." Kara stood up yawning and followed her inside. 

Charlie's room was so girly. She had lots of pink posters. Her favourite musician was Anna Marie so she had lots of posters. Her bedsheets were pink but her room was painted white. She had a large closet full of clothes arranged in different segments and sections. She had a wardrobe full of shoes. She had a large dressing table with a big mirror and lots of jewelleries. Lastly, she had enough lighting in her room to make it brighter during the day.

She picked some clothes and shook her head, " No...Too big..Small...I look weird...Ugly."

Kara was already tired of her comments and said, "You know what Charlie, this is just a date that cannot be up to an hour before you guys make out, and you are stressing me.....this has given me more reason not to help you during Prom cause I'm sure that would be more than this."

Charlie walked towards her and sat beside her saying, "I'm really sorry Kara. I just want my first date with Max to be perfect. That's all I want and I need you by my side in this."

Kara nodded, "Ugh fine." She stood up and went into her closet. She came out later with a short blue gown and black heels. "Wear this, it'll turn him on." Charlie laughed and hugged her, "What would I do without you?" She pulled out of the hug and went into her closet to dress up. Kara made her way to the living room and met Alicia drinking wine. Alicia saw her and told her to join her. Kara replied, "Oh ma'am, I really wish I could but I have to go now, my sister will be back soon and I have to be with her."

Alicia nodded and walked to her, "Call me Alicia. I just wanted to thank you for everything you've done to Charlie, for being a true best friend to her. I'm so happy she found someone to rely on apart from me."

Kara nodded, "Thank you Alicia. I will always help Charlie in any way possible."

Alicia pulled her into a hug and released her after some time. She gave her $6000 and told her to take care of herself and her sister and she left. Charlie came out already dressed. She packed her blonde hair in a high ponytail with clips on it. "Kara?"

Alicia turned to her and said, "She left, her sister is waiting for her." Charlie nodded and Alicia walked towards her, "You really really look beautiful my dear and I'm sure no one can resist you in this."

Charlie smiled at her, "Thanks mom."

Alicia patted her shoulder, "Now, come on....go for your date, I've prepared Karlo to take you tonight for safety."

Charlie wasn't cool with it but she agreed with her mom, took her purse and phone and went out.

Max was dressed for the date already. He wore a white Shirt and a black and white jacket with a black trousers. He wore a white sneakers. He was applying gel to his hair when Olivia came in. She chuckled, "Oh wow, my brother is so handsome."

Max finished applying the gel and asked, "What exactly do you want Olivia?"

Olivia laughed, "I love the way you always know when I'm up to something, anyway I just wanted to wish you luck on your date tonight."

Max rolled his eyes, "It's not an exam Olivia, it's just a date."

Olivia shrugged, "Whatever...oh and make sure you guys make out."

Max laughed, "Get out of my room Olivia."

Olivia laughed as well, "I know it's what you want though, well...I would text you the address….bye." She left his room and after a while, Max went out, took his helmet with him, hopped on his bike and rode off.

Max got to the restaurant Olivia texted him. It was a slightly fancy restaurant. He walked in and saw Charlie sitting. She was looking at her phone. He wondered when she got there. He sighed and walked towards her. Charlie looked up and saw Max walking towards her. He was so good looking with his hair perfectly gelled. She stood up as he got to the table saying, "I'm so glad you made it Max. I was actually beginning to think you won't come."

Max smiled, "I would not want to keep you waiting. Please sit." Charlie sat down and he sat down as well. Charlie had already ordered drinks for them. They joined their glasses together and drank the wine. After a while Charlie spoke, "Hey Max, I'm so glad this is happening. 

Max asked, "The date?"

Charlie nodded and looked round saying, "Do you mind if we walk out of here, you know…..to stroll and talk."

Max nodded, "Of course….anything you want." He stood up and helped her up. He held her hand and led her outside. It was cold outside and she shivered because her clothes were sleeveless. Max removed his jacket and handed it to her saying, "Here, it would help you keep warm."

Charlie smiled and wore his jacket. She loved his perfume all around her body. She brushed a strand of hair from her face and turned to him saying, "Max, I...I don't know how I'm still attracted to you. Sometimes I wonder if something is wrong with me but I realize nothing is, I love you so much Max and I really hope you give me a chance."

Max sighed and said, "Listen Charlie, I know how much you are interested in me but I want you to know this…..we are not compatible."

Charlie asked, "What do you mean by that Max?"

Max continued, "You are the popular girl in the whole school, I'm only considered popular because of basketball and how Olivia won't stop merging us together. We are in a different universe Charlie, I'm not just in for any popularity contest."

Charlie touched him as tears were beginning to form in her eyes, "I love you Max, please understand….I really really do….please give me a chance to prove myself."

Max held her hands saying, "I'm really sorry Charlie, but it just can't work. I'm sorry."

Charlie pulled him into a kiss immediately. She explored her tongue in his and kissed him hard. She noticed Max didn't kiss her back but she didn't care. She stopped the kiss and said, "I'm sorry, I just needed that."

She looked at him and said, "I don't care what happens Max, but I won't give up. I will have you, we will have ourselves because we belong to each other. I'm leaving now. This date is over." She turned to walk away. 

Immediately, a black car; A black Bugatti Chiron swerved and the tires screeched loudly almost pushing her into the gutter. Max caught her immediately and pulled her to balance. She looked at the car as the owner had parked already, "Hey b***h!! What the hell!"

The door opened and a young girl dressed in all black, wearing black shades as well came down from the car and ran towards her. She apologized immediately, "I'm so sorry please, I didn't mean to cause any form of accident."

Charlie freed herself from Max and stood in front of the girl saying, "Listen girl, I don't know where you are from or who you are but from where I came from, sorry isn't revenge." With that she pushed the girl to the ground. The girl groaned as she tried to stand up. Max immediately ran to help her stand up. She dusted her body and mouthed to him, "Thank you and I'm sorry." Then she went into her car and drove off. Charlie stood in front of him and yelled, "What did you do Max?! Why would you help her up?! She almost made me fall into this disgusting gutter!"

Max nodded, "Yes Charlie, like you said, she almost made you fall but did you fall? This girl came down to apologize yet you pushed her, that is really really low of you Charlie. One of the reasons why I can't date you."

Charlie frowned, "Whose side are you on Max?!"

Max went towards his bike and climbed on it, "No one. I'm leaving now Charlie and I think you should do the same. It's getting late." Then she zoomed off.

Charlie kicked herself and went into her car and the driver took her home.
