Chapter 2

Just because he followed his heart's passion and wanted to fulfill his dream, now he lost everything. He lost Brent, he lost his sister. Jake's eyes began to well up again, and it just took him a second before his tears completely poured out of his eyes again, blinding his vision.

Jake's head began throbbing again and Jake badly wanted to puke. He wiped his tears roughly and roamed his eyes. Jake spotted a trash bin and he ran over to it throwing up everything that was in his tummy. He tried grabbing something from his side, but he groped nothing. He forgot to take his bag with him where his medicine is.

"f**k! This is crazy!" He pressed his temples, massaging them gently. He doesn't have money in him to buy the medicine as it was all in his bag and Jake didn't want to come back home to see his sister and Brent together. Jake groped his pocket and thankfully, his phone was with him. He dialed Nigel's number and to God's grace, Nigel answered the phone.

"J-Jake? Is that really you?" Nigel with his shaking voice. "Yes, it's me. Can you...could you pick me up at the seaside?"

"Of course, of course! But why are you there? Why aren't you resting at home? I thought Brent–"

"Nigel, please, if you aren't busy," Jake stopped Nigel's sentence midway as he truly feels terrible right now.

"Alright, alright, wait for me there, don't leave, I'm coming!"

"Thanks," replied Jake and then hung up the phone call. He sat on the bench near the trash bin and waited for Nigel.

"Jake! Oh, Jake!" Nigel shouted the moment he spotted Jake. He wrapped his arms around Jake while sobbing.

"Stop it, Nigel. People may think we're lovers doing something illicit in public." Jake Said but Nigel doesn't care at all. Jake just patted his back until he calmed down, Jake wanted to regret calling him now.

"Can we leave now?" Jake said, and Nigel nodded. "I can see you're still wearing a uniform. I guess you're still on duty."

"Yeah, but don't mind it, there are hundreds of nurses there." Nigel's blabbers made Jake smile and soothe his stinging head a little.

Nigel took Jake to his condo unit and gave him pain killer medicine. Nigel didn't ask so much and let Jake rest in the guest room as Jake promised to tell him everything after he rested enough.

"What exactly happened to you and Brent?" Nigel mumbles observing Jake's pale complexion while at sleep. He left the room and closed the door before calling the hospital and asking for a leave. His job is important, but nothing more is important than Jake whom Nigel is considered a big brother and his idol. His favorite, Doctor. Doctor Jake Bailey Ellis.

Nigel ordered some food from the nearby restaurant as he doesn't know how to cook and he didn't want Jake to starve. While waiting, Nigel calls Ashlan and tells him about Jake, Ashlan thanks him before bidding goodbye.

The food arrived and Nigel prepared it on the table so Jake could eat it when he woke up.

Jake's phone rang and Nigel frowned. He took Jake's phone before getting out of the room earlier so Jake could rest properly without disturbance.

"Jake–"

"It's Nigel," He answered before Brent could finish his sentence.

"I don't know what happened between you two, but I already have an idea. Don't worry Jake is with me, he is resting right now."

"If he is with you, that's good then. Thank you, and please take care of him for me."

"You don't have to thank me, I will surely take care of him even if you don't tell me." Nigel lambastes him and then hangs up the phone. Brent sighed and turned to face Amber.

"Do you still love him?" Amber with her damp eyes.

"Amber, we're going to have a baby soon. So don't worry about it." Brent's gaze dropped to the floor.

"But do you still love him?" Insist Amber.

"That's not important, You are the one beside me right now." Said, Brent, and Amber's tears fell from her eyes but she instantly wiped them.

Amber was madly in love with Brent ever since she was young. But Brent already has his love, and it is her big brother Jake. She had witnessed how Brent and Jake love each other. She admires them so much and she is just content being at the side secretly loving Brent. She even took the same course with Jake even though she didn't like it that much. When she finished her studies, she worked at the same hospital as her brother. She insisted on living together with them under the pretext that she can't afford to get her own apartment. She becomes Jake's shadow.

When Jake went abroad, Amber attempted many times to get Brent's attention, but Brent didn't even look at her. She tried to seduce him but it didn't work. Brent could only see Jake even though Jake wasn't with him and the one before him is her. When the news of Jake's abduction broke out, her heart also shattered but at the same time, a little hope thrived in her heart. When year after year there was no news about Jake, Brent almost went crazy and even attempted to take his own life. That's when Amber decided to pour her heart into Brent.

She showed Brent their similarities with Jake. She encourages Brent to go on with his life. She told Brent that Jake will be very sad if he saw him wrecking his life. Amber did everything for Brent's very little attention until something happened to them and Amber got pregnant

"I think we should pack," Said Brent, getting up.

"Where are we going at this hour?"

"I don't know, but we can just pack a few things and leave by tomorrow. Let's find our own house or apartment. But we have to leave here. This house is Jake's, he bought it with his own money. So I don't have any rights to this after what I've done." Amber nodded to that.
