Hira's punishment

Hira ended the call with uncle and took the support of the wall feeling her legs struggling to hold her, fear took over her body and her mind felt numb, what is her punishment? And how uncle is okay with hurting her?!!

She took the phone and held the Timer, watched the seconds passing by as tears flow over her cheek, then she sat on the floor and dialed Uncle’s number as a last desperate attempt

Hira: please pick up, please

But the phone kept ringing and another 45 second passed, then the recorded message asked to leave a voice message after the beep

Hira with teary eyes: uncle you are angry I know but you don’t know Sanjay (then her eyes widened), Sanjay (then she ended the message) he is going to hurt Sanjay too

And she ran to Sanjay’s room and knocked once and twice then opened the door and Sanjay was still sleeping, Hira sat on the edge of the couch beside him and shook him his arm

Hira: please wake up

Sanjay opened his eyes wide seeing her tears on her face and the fear in her eyes; he sat straight and looked at her with widened eyes

Sanjay: what? What happened, Hira?

Hira swallowed: we have to go now (then she stood) please we don’t have time, where are your shoes?

Sanjay: just tell me what happened?

She sat on the floor and looked under the couch and Sanjay looked at her surprised

Sanjay: Hira? What are you afraid of and why are you crying? Tell me

Hira: if you trust me and care for me then do what I am asking you without asking question, do you trust me?

Sanjay: more than you can imagine

Hira: okay then let’s go (then she shook her head) I can’t find your shoes, we don’t have time, we...

Sanjay sat beside her on the floor and held her hand, and squeezed on it faintly, she looked at him and he gave her a soothing look

Hira took a deep breath: okay find your shoes, and please find Insanju too because I just can’t look for anything now, and I am going to stop for us a taxi (then she wiped her tears) I don’t know where are we going or how we will pay for the taxi but we can’t call uncle or go to the mansion right now

Sanjay: okay, don’t worry, I know where we can go and you will be okay

Hira looked at him and nodded then ran out of the room, towards the table and she looked at the timer and her eyes widened

00 Minutes and 57 seconds

She took the timer in her hand, opened the door and ran down the stairs, adrenaline was taking over her body, and she was running like never before, she reached on the pavement and signaled to a Taxi

Hira: TAXI

The timer beeped and Hira froze in her place and looked at it

00 Minutes and 00 seconds

A taxi stopped in front of her, she took a deep breath and opened the door only for her shock to find a hand that pushing the taxi’s door back close, she looked at the owner of this hand and it was Marie and behind her Sonia and the former looking at her with anger and hatred; Hira’s eyes widened in shock and froze in her place

Marie: Sonia, go to the apartment and make sure the message is right and Sanjay is there, you will find the key under the door mat, give me a missed call if he is there and okay

Sonia nodded and looked at Hira with faint frown then ascended the stairs of the building in fast steps

Hira: Mrs. Singh Khatri, I am so sorry, Sanjay is fine, we were coming and...

Marie: shush (putting her finger over her own lips)

Hira swallowed and nodded, two minutes and a missed call came on Marie’s phone she took a deep breath in relief and Hira smiled faintly

Hira: like I said, Mr. Sanjay is...

Before she continue her sentence, Marie slapped her a tight slap and Hira screamed from the sudden pain and the shock and fell over the pavement

Marie: WHO ARE YOU? WHO PAID YOU TO HURT MY SON? ANSWER ME

Hira couldn’t say anything or even raise her head, she could only taste her own blood in her mouth and see a blurry vision to Marie’s feet, her head was numb and she was dizzy but Marie woke her from her dizziness by raising her head from her hair, Hira screamed in pain feeling her head on fire

Marie: SPEAK

Few people rushed and held Marie’s arms, spoke with her to stop and tried to raise Hira off the pavement and she barely got herself to stand

Marie: Leave me, this is my daughter, she ran away from home and I am disciplining her

And she took Hira from whoever was supporting her, and the people seemed to believe her because they just walked away, and Hira couldn’t wasn’t able to stop them, Marie opened the backseat’s door of the taxi and pushed Hira inside; Hira fell lying on the back seat then she sat and looked at Marie with a frown on her red face that was covered in tears

Marie: you are fired, come near my son again and I will crush you (then she looked at the driver) take her, Sultan; and tell Joseph to take care of her himself, NOT Johnny

And Marie closed the door of the taxi, Hira frowned and tried to open the door, but it was locked and there wasn’t any handles in any door other than the driver’s, not even for the window, she looked at Marie shocked before the taxi drives away with her

Marie fixed her hair then she took out her phone out of her bag and dialed a number

Marie: Adarsh, Sorry I couldn’t wait for you; yes I am here at the address that was sent to me in the message!! Building 20 like I told you (then she smiled a nervous smile) oh did I say building 12 no I meant 20, apartment 19; sorry darling (then tucked her hair behind her ear nervously) no I didn’t see Hira yet, even if I saw her I promise I won’t lose my temper, okay bye darling

And she ended the call, closed her eyes and took a deep then then entered the entry of the building and was about to ascend the stairs but saw Sanjay running down the stairs behind him Sonia that was holding his jacket and Insanju

Marie’s eyes crowded with tears: my son (and she hugged him) you are okay, thank god

Sanjay: where is Hira?!!

Marie broke the hug: I ...I don’t know, I didn’t see her since she left the mansion

Sonia looked at her with widened eyes and Marie swallowed; Sanjay looked around shocked, then walked to the side of the building where the flowers field is.

Marie: Sanjay?

Sanjay: HIRA, HIRA

Marie was about to go behind him but Sonia held her hand and said in low tone

Sonia: what have you done to the girl Marie? You promised you will control your temper, take her to the mansion and give her the right to defend herself

Marie frowned and whispered: I tried but she ran away, she is young, I couldn’t follow her

Sonia tightened her eyes to her: why I feel you are not saying the truth?

Marie: I am not lying, don’t look at me like that (then she raised her index finger) don’t forget your place, Sonia

Sonia swallowed: we are alone Marie, that is why I am speaking with you freely

Marie frowned: even if we are alone, show respect, we are not couple of friends in the village anymore, now I am your Ma’am and you are my servant, if I let you speak with me freely sometimes, this is from the kindness of my heart ,that is all

Sonia frowned and bowed her head: yes Ma’am

Sanjay returned back to Marie with confused face...

Sanjay: where did she go? She was just...

Then he noticed the timer on the pavement, he picked it up and looked at it, and it was still reading 00:00

He looked at his mother and she shook her head

Marie: what is that?!!

Sanjay ran back upstairs and Marie rushed behind him so did Sonia, till he reached to the apartment and raised the doormat, took the key and opened the door, then looked around till he found the mobile phone, he opened the recent calls and frowned confused

Sanjay: her uncle called her before the countdown ends in the timer, so what was the timer for?!!!! (Then he breathed nervously) she was so scared, so scared

Marie: Sanjay, I don’t understand what are you trying to say (Then she caressed his hair) forget about Hira, I will get you a better nurse, let’s go home

Sanjay frowned: ma, I am not going anywhere without Hira

Marie’s eyes widened then she looked at Sonia who looked at her with a worried look, and Sanjay dialed the only saved contact in the phone which was named with (Uncle) but his phone was turned off and asked to leave a voice message

Sanjay: Good evening sir, this is Sanjay, Hira’s employer, sir after your last call with her she was very nervous and scared and now we can’t find her, please come see me in your apartment or call me as soon as you get this message, I will look forward to hear from you anytime tonight, I won’t sleep, thank you

And he ended the call then sat on the couch and squeezed on the phone with anger, Marie sat beside him and swallowed

Marie: who is this man you were calling?

Sanjay: it’s the man who raised Hira, and the owner of this apartment, he helped us

Marie: and do you know him, should we thank him?

Sanjay: No, and I don’t think Hira knows him either, she considers him her family and the dearest to her (then he frowned and shook his head) but I am sure he doesn’t feel the same towards her, I am sure he is the reason she is so scared

Sonia left the puppy after it barked twice and the puppy jumped over Sanjay’s leg but Sanjay pushed it away kindly and Marie kissed his Sanjay’s shoulder

Marie in low tone: you look great, son (and she put her head on his shoulder)

Sanjay: how did you know my place, ma?

Marie raised her head and swallowed: Someone anonymous sent me a message telling me the address and about the spare key under the mat

Sanjay frowned: it must be her uncle or Jagdev but why would they do that; can I read the message?

Marie: I ...I deleted it, sorry (then she put her hand on his cheek) forget about her, my son; Hira must just left us like the nurse before the one before her, what was her name? The old one

Sanjay: Aunty Aziza (then he shook his head) I don’t understand why she suddenly left even without saying goodbye, I thought she considered me a son to her

Marie frowned: apparently she doesn’t  

Sonia frowned looking at Marie as Sanjay nodded faintly

Marie: forget about them; you trusted them and they left you (then she put her hand on his cheek) no one will love you in this world more than your mother, Sanjay

Sanjay kissed her hand and took her in his arm, and she closed her eyes and put her head on his chest

Adarsh: SANJAY

Sanjay looked at the door and Adarsh, Viola, Jude and Eve were standing in the entry; Adarsh rushed towards Sanjay and sat on his knees and hugged him but like always Sanjay frowned and didn’t return the hug

Adarsh: thank god you are okay

And he broke the hug and looked at Viola, Eve and Jude; Eve rushed towards Sanjay and hugged him, he smiled and hugged her back

Eve: I was so worried, Sanjay

Sanjay: I know, I am sorry

(And he kissed her head and hugged her tighter, Marie frowned more and squeezed on the couch) 

Viola: thank god you are okay Sanjay

Jude frowned faintly: we were worried for you, Sanjay

Sanjay’s smile vanished: what happened to you shoulder, Jude?

Jude frowned and looked at Sanjay with great anger and Viola swallowed and looked down

Marie: they had a car accident, sweetheart; he broke his shoulder

Sanjay nodded: oh I am sad to her that, get well soon

Jude nodded and Viola looked at Sanjay and he took a deep breath and looked back at the phone

Adarsh: what happened, Sanjay? Why you left the mansion?

Sanjay frowned: I won’t answer any question (then he looked at Marie) or return to the mansion, till I find Hira

Adarsh: Hira is missing?!!

(And he looked at Marie, who swallowed and looked away; and Sanjay dialed number of uncle again and left to him another message, then another and another, waiting for the phone to ring, but after an hour and half Marie’s phone is the one started ringing and everyone looked at her)

Marie: I ...I need to take that, it’s my brother

And she took the phone and went to one of the room and was about to close the door but Adarsh, who followed her, stopped the door from closing and entered, she looked at him nervously as he closed the door behind himself

Marie: this is ...my brother, Joseph; Adarsh

Adarsh strictly: okay, answer him, I missed him anyway I would like to hear his voice

Marie swallowed then answered the call and put the phone on her ear...

Marie: yes Joseph

Adarsh: turn on the speaker, I told you I want to hear his voice

Marie looked at Adarsh with widened eyes and he frowned to her, she closed her eyes and turned on the speaker

Joseph: ....the girl is not saying more than this

Adarsh’s eyes widened to Marie and Marie swallowed and looked down

Joseph: I tried with her every single nonviolent method, either she doesn’t have anything more to say and no one is behind her to hurt Sanjay and you are overprotective like always or she is tougher than the nonviolent methods so if you gave me the permission to use a slightly violent method, we for sure will reach to a satisfying result, I have well trained females that will leave no permanent scars on her but can cause great pain

Adarsh: NO JOSEPH NO, DON’T LET ANYONE TO TOUCH HER, WE ARE COMING

And he took the phone from Marie’s hand and ended the call then looked at her with disgusted frown

Marie: don’t look at me like that Adarsh, like you heard I asked him to not to use violence with her and just know more about her, I don’t trust her, there is something wrong with...

Eve: SANJAY STOP, PAPA, MA

Marie and Adarsh looked at each other with widened eyes then ran out of room only to see Sanjay emptying Marie’s bag contents over the couch

Eve: we heard papa saying to Uncle Joseph’s not to hurt Hira

Marie: Sanjay, what are you doing dear?

Sanjay frowned: don’t talk to me

Marie swallowed and he took her car keys and ran out of the apartment

Marie: SANJAY WAIT

And she ran behind him and everyone else followed.

Sanjay reached to Marie’s car, opened the door and entered and Marie entered beside him on the passenger’s seat and he drove like a rocket, Adarsh and the rest looked at the car going

Adarsh: in my car, NOW

the rest with Sonia who was carrying the puppy rode Adarsh’s car and followed Sanjay’s car, after 15 minutes, Sanjay parked in front of body guarding service office of two stories, he got out of the car and slammed the door behind him and entered the office and Marie run behind him

The receptionist: welcome to Joseph and Johnny’s Guarding service, how can...

Sanjay ran towards the door with CEO sign and Joseph’s name and Marie and the receptionist ran behind him screaming for him to stop but for their shock, Sanjay didn’t knock, he tried the doorknob once and when the door didn’t open, he kicked the door open; Marie and the receptionist screamed as the door opened wide, and the man behind the desk who was a tall, thin, brown hair, mustache and blue eyes; stood in shock

Joseph: Sanjay, Marie!!

Sanjay looked at every place in the office then looked at Joseph breathing heavily and Joseph swallowed

Sanjay: where is Hira?

Joseph: the nurse? In Johnny’s office (then he looked at Marie) she is just a nurse, right?

Marie sighed and Sanjay looked at him with a frown then rushed to the door beside it with the Sign CEO JOHNNY, tried the doorknob and the door opened instantly!

And Hira was there sitting on the couch smiling although her face was covered with tears, and in her hand a cup of a hot drink and in front of her a small table with bags of food; and opposite to her a man who was shorter and rounder than the Joseph but has the same brown hair, blue eyes but bigger nose and thicker mustache, and in his hand was a sandwich and laughing loudly.

Hira didn’t look at the door at first but after few seconds, she looked at the door and seeing Sanjay standing in front of her; the cup fall from her hand then she ran to him and jumped between his arms.

The Sudden embrace surprised him and took his breath away, he felt a strange sense of happiness and longing; and felt his heart beats in his chest, he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly that her feet left the floor  

Sanjay in low tone: did someone hurt you?

Hira looked at Marie and Marie shook her head slightly to her

Sanjay: answer me

Hira answered the question with soft crying sound and her fingers that held on the back of his white shirt, he hugged her tighter and looked at Johnny with shocked frown

Johnny: don’t worry Sanjay, she is fine we did nothing to her, you know Joseph he yelled at her couple of times, scared her a little but we made peace, right Hira? I brought for her burger and fries and based on personal experience no one can’t be not okay after burger and fries (then he frowned) maybe the sugarless green tea broke her spirit a little, it does this to people but she is the one asked for it, not my fault

Hira chuckled faintly and Johnny smiled back; then she broke the hug with Sanjay and wiped her tears, and put her hair over her red cheek

Hira: I am okay now, Are you okay?

Sanjay smiled a very faint smile and nodded, Adarsh entered in fast steps, moving everyone from his way and held Hira’s shoulders

Adarsh: are you okay?

Hira was taken seeing the look of worry on his face, and nodded faintly and Johnny smiled

Johnny: see your Hira is okay, Sanjay

Hira looked down and her cheeks blushed and Sanjay looked at Johnny with widened eyes

Johnny: I meant your nurse (and he winked)

Sonia entered the room and Insanju was squirming in her hand

Sonia: Mr. Sanjay; I can’t carry the dog anymore

Johnny’s eyes widened: Sonia?!! I..(Then he fixed his hair) I thought you quit and left the mansion

Sonia: Mrs. Marie asked me to return a week ago

Marie frowned at Johnny who smiled shyly and fixed his mustache with finger

Johnny smiled widely: that is great, that is so great

Adarsh: okay, let’s go home (then he looked at Sanjay) then I expect an answer to my questions

Few hours Later

In the mansion

In Adarsh’s room

Sanjay: ...Hira was to take me to the hospital, we didn’t even change our pajamas, but turned out it was just another panic attack and I calmed down in the way to the hospital so we returned to the mansion but the Gate was locked and it was raining heavily so Hira called her uncle from the taxi driver’s phone and he gave us the apartment and the clothes, we slept then the moment we awaken Hira was to stop a taxi and we were going to return to the mansion (then he frowned to Marie) but things didn’t go as we planned

Adarsh: why didn’t you call us?

Sanjay: Hira left her phone in the mansion, like I said we got out with our pajamas and neither of us could memorize any number, so we couldn’t call

Out of the room

Hira, Viola and Jude were pressing their ear on the door and Eve was looking at them with a frown

Hira: he is so smart

Viola: yes Insanju is a genius (then she looked at Jude) we are off the hook

Hira frowned and said in low tone: don’t call him Insanju again

Viola frowned and said in low tone: he is my brother, I call him whatever I want, don’t forget your place Hira, you are just a nurse for Insanju

Eve frowned in low tone: Hira is right, Viola; I can’t believe you and Jude did that to our sick little brother

Jude: your little brother Eve, but for me he is the bastard that broke my shoulder

Eve frowned: and you were the bastard, who broke his head before and wanted to break his leg yesterday, but you are also his brother and he knew that if Papa knew what you did, he will kill you so he hid this from Papa to save you!! (Then she shook her head) Sanjay is your Little brother not just son of Marie, Jude

Jude frowned: speaking of Marie, why she called our Late mother a sinner, Eve

Eve’s frown vanished and she swallowed and shook her head then looked at Hira who was looking at her

Eve: I ...I don’t know why she said something like that

Viola: but she said to ask you, is there something you are hiding from us?

Eve shook her head then walked away and Hira rushed behind her

Hira: Ms. Eve

Eve stopped and looked at her and Hira rushed to her with faint smile

Hira: thank you for defending me, and what you said about Sanjay...I don’t know what to say, really thank you

Eve smiled: he is my little brother Hira, I should be the one thanking you, and by the way if you need any clothes ask me, but don’t wear this old Saree again

Hira looked at her black Saree then she smiled and nodded; then her phone rang and Hira looked at the phone and uncle was calling, she looked at it for a moment and swallowed

Eve: aren’t you going to answer that?

Hira shook her head and canceled the call and Eve nodded and walked away and Hira walked back to Jude and Viola; and they were looking at her with faint frown

Viola: don’t think you will get away with what you did to my face

Hira smirked: actually yes I will

Then she held her phone to them and opened the Video and both Viola and Jude were shocked to see it

Hira: if you even thought to hurt me or Sanjay again, this Video will be sent to Mr. Adarsh and maybe to the police too, why not?

Viola frowned and shook her head: you are such...

Hira in low tone: shush, don’t speak so loudly

And she signaled on the door then smiled and pressed her ear on the door

In the room

Marie frowned: what about the camera’s memory card?

Sanjay looked at her confused: what camera?

Marie: ask Hira (then she held her head) I can’t believe how you can’t see how manipulative this girl is!!!

Jude and Eve looked at Hira and Hira smirked and showed them her phone again

Sanjay frowned: enough Mother; Hira doesn’t deserve what you did with her

Marie frowned: I do this with anyone that endangers you; we check their background, and your uncle Joseph...

Sanjay strictly: Hira is not like anyone

Marie’s eyes widened and looked at Adarsh who couldn’t hold his smile; and outside Jude and Viola looked at Hira as she put her hand on her chest and her face turned red and pressed her ear on the door

Sanjay: I care for her, and I assure you, she is nothing but innocent and kind

Viola took Jude’s hand and stood with him a side then she opened the door quickly and Hira was about to fall inside Adarsh’s room but held her balance and stood in front of them, she looked behind her Viola and Jude Vanished

Marie crossed her arms and looked at Sanjay and Adarsh who looked down and away shyly

Hira smiled: Hola, I thought...this is the main bathroom

Adarsh smiled: it’s okay dear; we were going to call you anyway, sit down

Sanjay smiled took Hira’s hand and made her sit beside him, she brushed her hair over her cheek and Adarsh held Marie’s hand and pulled her a step closer to Hira

Adarsh: we owe you an apology for what you gone through, do you accept it Angel?

Sanjay smiled half a smile and looked at Hira but she looked down with faint frown

Sanjay: Hira?

He slowly raised Hira’s hair from over her face, and Hira didn’t stop him and kept looking down with a frown, and he was shocked to see a dark red bruise in the shape of fingers on her face; Sanjay stood as if he got electrode and looked her shocked and that is when Hira looked at him, her frown turned to worry look seeing the look of shock on his face

Sanjay: who did this to you? Who slapped you?

Hira swallowed then looked at Marie then looked down and Sanjay looked towards Marie in shock and Marie’s eyes crowded with tears and shook her head

Sanjay: you did this to Hira, you said you didn’t see her when you hurt her, and I trusted you, how can you do something so cruel? (Then he said strictly) I will never forgive you, never

Marie: Sanjay, I...

Adarsh frowned: SANJAY, Enough...your mother did nothing to Hira...(then he looked down) I did, I lost my temper when I found the chains untied and when I saw her I slapped her; then asked your uncle to interrogate her and asked your mother not to tell you, you know she can’t say no to me

Hira’s eyes widened and looked at Adarsh in disbelief; then looked at Marie who sobbed and looked down

Adarsh: I made a mistake, I am sorry

Sanjay shook his head: no you are not sorry; YOU ARE A CRIMINAL, A BEAST, YOU HURT PEOPLE AND NEVER LOOK BACK, AND I SHOULDN’T LOOK BACK TOO, I SHOULD SAY NOTHING

Adarsh closed his eyes and a tear fall on his cheek, and Hira looked at Adarsh shocked then held Sanjay’s arm and rubbed his arm to calm him down

Sanjay: you made me like you; a beast chained to a life that I am in it your son but don’t worry, I am not in this life because of your chains anymore (then he looked at Hira) I am in this life because Hira asked me to stay (Then he looked at Adarsh) and because you mean nothing to me anymore

And he walked out and Marie rushed behind him and Hira stood shocked seeing tears streaming on Adarsh’s face, she took a step closer to him

Hira: why you took the blame instead of her?

Adarsh in low tone: Sanjay my son is so kind, but he meant it when he told her he will never forgive her, because he doesn’t forgive who betray his trust (then he smiled as tears flow on his cheek) and I love him so much to let him lose his mother like he lost his father; Sanjay really care for you Hira and trust you; don’t betray his trust, you will never get it back if you did, never.
