That unexpected start
Ladies and gentlemen,
I present to you the graduating class of 2024 !!! (Exclaimed the blue village high school director, Mr Livinatti)
Cheers, roars of happiness and joyful screams could be listen along the small length of the island.. a place full of historical marks, mixed roots and big dreamers.. the land where beauty it’s so astonishing that visiting Saint Vincent of Laconic it’s the number one choice in The planet...
The paradise replenished in Vivien's view, the cheerful sounds embracing her in a full mood of end and beginning.. the awakening of something so out of mind that her faith is put to test and is the..
Hey!! Stop daydreaming girl!! I’ve been talking with you all this time and you didn’t even listen to one word at all, said Zara Ventura while pouting, Vivian’s childhood best friend.
Viv:
Zara, give me a break, I'm just embracing this abrupt change in our life, geez!!? - rolling her eyes so deeply that her eyes almost vanished.
Zara:
Yes, yes, spill it already, did you enter or not Lutys university?? Common!! I want to make sure we both did, I don’t want to go without you “Nha Cretcheu”.
Viv:
Ok, fair enough, at the count of 3 we open the bl**dy letter’s together.. one.. two. three.
Three months later.
Stepping out of the aeroplane, the stone-cold wind slapped me in the face with a fury of an ice dragon breath.. frozen from head to toe I walk through the maze of people into Lindon City where everything looked 100 times bigger than back at home.
Viv:
Lost in my rushed thoughts I almost forgot an important thing. Zara, where are you? Don’t start with your silly pranks.
Zara:
Viv, I’ve been trying to talk with you all this time and as usual, you’re lost in your dreamy world again...
Viv:
Let’s go then, we need to get our big asses on the next train otherwise, we will be stuck here for the next two days. hurry up!!
500 miles, an eternal monologue and 100 coffees after here we are. Lutys, a small city in the heart of Britannia, is the empire of King Saul and his queen Viola.
Switching my attention back to Zara and finally addressing her for the first time in hours, I told her.
Viv:
Zara, let’s get a taxi to our accommodation, our tour guide it’s been waiting for us for ages now.
Entering the old building, with 100 years old of life. A loud, mouldy and vibrant vibe hit us spreading an anxious excitement through our veins.. but soon our attention was drawn to the tour guide angrily waiting for us at the reception.
A tall ginger barbie walked right in between us, spitting words like a world rap champion in a powerful and confident accent.
Tour guide:
Well, ladies!!!!! I would say good morning but unfortunately, it’s good afternoon already, she said scolding.
My name is Grace and I’m your guide for the next few days, so please follow me and I will explain everything you need to know, ask as many questions as you want and try to keep up, she said while the cheekiest smile spread through her immaculate face.
For an hour we raced through the hallways flooded with a crowd of multicultural people.. listening to more than 50 different languages and dialects.. admiring the diversity awaiting us to explore it. Approaching the end of our 1st tour, right at the entrance of our small two-bedroom apartment on the west side of campus.
Grace:
Ladies, here we are, your humble palace.. all the instructions and emergency numbers are on the board in the hallway. Here it is the keys and my contacts, she said while passing us a business card.
Call me if you need me.. see you later at the welcome party girls, tara.
Viv:
Wait Grace I said in a panicked voice.. party? Welcome party? Do we have to attend? What do we dress? Where it is? I kept throwing question after question in a stumbling pained tone until the loudest laughter pierced through us like fire blasts.
Grace:
Lass calm down, just text me and I will share the details, regarding dress code clothes should do well, she said laughing her lungs off while quickly walking out.
Left looking into the abyss of my mind in autopilot mode, I rapidly tipped a Zap message to Grace. “Ok, send me all the details and please explain like we’re toddlers, please.
3 seconds later. You little t***s, dress code HOT, place Fantasia disco on campus and bring cash, see you in a bit”, replied Grace.
Jesus I whispered.. this girl is a cyborg, that was flash speed!!
Turning to my hothead friend I dragged her in the direction of the bedrooms and quickly started unpacking.
Viv:
Zara, what are we going to dress? She said Hot, but what is “Hot” in this bloody cold?
Zara:
Chuckling she replied, Viv don’t be a cold freak we talked about this already, think this is the Russian summer and we are going to dress in our best attires and swipe everyone’s feet tonight !!
Viv:
Ha ha ha, I sarcastically laughed, I’m off to a more than deserved shower, be right back.
While washing my long and curly dark blonde hair and my chocolate smooth skin, my phone went crazy, with overloaded twists and beeps. Geez, a girl can’t take a relaxing shower?! I whispered and yelled.
Quickly drying myself out with a fluffy yellow towel, that smells like home, “mom” I whispered feeling homesick already..
Calling back my dear mother’s, the anticipation creeps all over me but before I could wrap my mind around it, my mom answered before the first ring ended. And then, the most beautiful voice echoed with a sweet tone, capable of melting a snowy Mount Everest!
Mom (Lidia):
Olá minha filha, como correu a viagem? Tens todas as tuas malas? Não te perdes-te nos transportes? Já trocaste o dinheiro? Já chegaram ao vosso apartamento? Onde está a Zara?
Translation: Hello my daughter, how was your travel? Do you have all your bags? You didn't get lost in the transports, right? Did you exchange the money? Are you at your apartment already? Where is Zara?
Viv:
A smile took over my pink plumped lips and warmth spread through my chest.. like mother like daughter I said while chuckling and rolling my eyes off.
Too many questions mom!!! yes to all of them and Zara is preparing for the party. Just wanted to let you know we are alive in one peace and happy to be here. I hope everyone is ok though.
Mom:
Yes, my dear, we are all ok, just missing your messy bum running around this house and driving us crazy...
Viv:
Mother! I’m not that messy I signed loudly...
I miss you all too. Mom I have to go, call you tomorrow, love you I said rushing to end the call before she started an all-night conversation.
After finishing my skincare routine and to-die make-up!!! I open my freshly organised wardrobe and scan through my one million dresses trying to find the one that will give me that perfect first impression... after 15 minutes and some flying dresses here I am.
My perfectly brushed curly blonde hair hugged to the end of my back.. my hydrated chocolate skin, my natural night out makeup and a red mid-thigh backless dress that accentuated my pear-shaped curvy body and my long legs, ending on my sexy black pumps.
Knocking at Zara’s bedroom door: I whispered shouted, Zara, are you ready? We need to go or our “TourZilla” will kill us.
Laughing, Zara walks off and at that precise moment, all my brain cells collapsed... Creating an automatic response, a long whistle.
Damm!!!!!!!!!!!! you look smoking hot!!! dressed in a black knee length with a cheeky long leg slit and red strapped sandals, shoulder length straight ebony hair and extravagant but classy make-up that highlights her cat green eyes and plumped red lips.
Zara:
Ok, ok.. let’s go, remember!!!! fresh start, blank canvas and a million opportunities for recreation. So let’s be ourselves and rock this university! She says while bumping our big bums in a cheerful mood.
15 min, a gang of TourZillas and some shots later the deemed lights and crazy shouts just settled the tone to our start.
Dj:
Are you readyyyyyyy???? Let’s rock this party tonight.. and the music blasted with the lights dancing to the rhythm of the music. Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted and in a heartbeat that piercing grey eyes scanned my soul and my whole existence shifted.. entangling and initiating the beginning of the end.
* “nha Cretcheu” - it means my love in criollo.
* “Zap” - w******p message.
* “TourZilla” - a funny expression mixing Tour and Godzilla, to represent overspending, and discontent.
