Chapter 9

470 Words
Chaya was listening to Nova explaining werewolf pack dynamics. "We're unsure about the age of their transition, as they are a mix of human and werewolf," she replied, passing Chaya her drink. “Do you think you can find out about me?” Nova shook her head. “You're a unique case. Alpha Dominik is also seeking information. Nova noticed that Chaya seemed troubled and asked, "What's wrong? I'm here for you." Chaya took a deep breath and said, "Last night..." Nova moved closer, anticipating a panic attack. "Are you okay?" Chaya smiled and said, “Yes I am and—You're so thoughtful. "Thank you." She held Chaya's hand, prompting her to speak. “I have been sleep-deprived for a while.” She whispered about her recurring nightmares and wake-ups. Nova questioned, "Did the nightmares start after the attack?" Chaya looked at Nova and replied, "Yes." She let out a heavy sigh and went on to talk about the guy of the previous night — he must be a good omen cause she had no nightmare and she slept peacefully. Chaya felt nervous when she saw Nova's sombre expression. She asked nervously, "Did I offend you with something I said?" “No, not at all,” Nova assured her. She went with Nova to check out the preschool for the boys. The teachers looked at her. Nova introduced her to them. “This is Chaya and her pups Raine, Reed, and Reid.” They smiled and waved. "Susan, can you give the boys a tour?" She nodded to indicate approval. "So what brings you here?" she noticed their slight hostility. “ I am here for my boys as you can sense they are part wolf.” Wendy sarcastically inquired, “Why didn't you consider that before parting your thighs for a werewolf?” "Don't underestimate me just because I'm human. Get all the facts before jumping to conclusions," Chaya told Wendy firmly. “You have no idea what you're up against.” Her eyes glinted silver, causing Wendy to jump in shock. Chaya then simply walked away, leaving her standing there trembling. “ Wendy, I always thought you had your head on straight, but today it appears that you've gone astray.” Nova expressed her disapproval, continuing, "Now you're behaving like Sasha." Wendy rolled her eyes and calls Chaya a slut. The others looked around for Chaya's whereabouts. “Wendy, if you want to cause a commotion, do it on your own.” one of the she-wolves said. "We prefer to stay uninvolved," they stated as they distanced themselves from her as Chaya approached them. She spoke fiercely, her eyes ablaze with anger. “Nova, we should leave. This place isn't suitable for my boys, It's like a den of wild animals.” Everyone was stunned by her words.
