Chapter 2

399 Words
As the paths of Bailey and Chaya crossed, their lives were about to change in unexpected ways. Bailey August Wolf sat in his office, the heir to the August Wolf Corp and the Alpha of the Crystal Wolf Pack. He was a twenty-eight-year-old shifter who had a reputation for not believing in love and being with many women. To him, women were only there to satisfy his needs and nothing more. Raised by his grandfather after his parents' demise, he was focused on his responsibilities. His best friend, Ashton, walked into his office, seeking his support for an upcoming event. Bailey sighed, realizing that he had forgotten about his grandfather's charity event. He reluctantly informed Ashton that he couldn't attend, causing Ashton to cancel his own plans. Bailey reminded him to be on time, and Ashton assured him that he would be. The two friends spent the day together, discussing various topics. Bailey's attention was mostly on his phone, not paying much attention to the conversation. Ashton asked about the women in Bailey's life, to which Bailey nonchalantly replied that there were many gold diggers interested in him. Ashton joked about the abundance of such women, and Bailey smiled. As the conversation shifted, Ashton mentioned his mother's attempts at finding him a wife. Bailey sympathized with his friend. "you lucky that your grandfather hates women." Ashton said. They decided to grab lunch together, and Bailey clarified that his grandfather didn't hate women, but rather mistrusted them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meanwhile, at a coffee shop, Chaya, a twenty-six-year-old single mother of five-year-old triplets, sat with her friend. She had thick wavy chestnut hair cut in a pixie hairstyle and sparkling hazel eyes. With a curvy body and a golden complexion, she owned a small catering company. Her friend, Nadia, had asked her to help with a charity gala for a wealthy man. Chaya found the menu boring and took a sip of her coffee. Nadia knew what she was thinking and warned her against any impulsive actions that could jeopardize her job. Chaya innocently denied any intentions of causing trouble. They briefly discussed Chaya's triplets, who wanted to skip kindergarten and join her. Nadia laughed at their mischievousness. After finalizing their plans, Chaya left the coffee shop, bidding Nadia farewell. They promised to call each other once they received confirmation for the food sampling. Chaya had to rush off, leaving Nadia behind.
