Bestfriends Mate

My name is Jasmin Peters, I’m the betas daughter and best friends to the future alpha of Sapphire Pack. I live in the pack house with my parents, because my dad is the beta, we have a whole floor for our family which I will soon take over when I step up as the first female beta when my best friend Damien Black takes his place as Alpha in a couple of months on his 19th birthday. We get our wolves when we are 18 and we can find our mates after we turn 19 which gives us a year to get to know our wolves and have some freedom because from what we have been told when you find your mate you never want to be apart. My wolf is called Ebony, she’s a large silver wolf with white paws. She’s a strong wolf and a great warrior. Jasmin POV It’s 5am.. woke up to my alarm ready for morning training which starts at 6am. I roll out of bed and jump in the shower. After my shower I get ready, I throw on my black gym set and braid my hair out my face. Once I’ve finished getting I head to the kitchen to make myself some protein shake and pre work then head out the door to meet everyone before training. The lift door opens.. “Morning Jazzy” I look up as see Damien in the lift, he’s wearing black T-shirt and joggers. “You know I hate that nickname” “You secretly love it jazzy” “Urgh your such a pain in the a**” As we get to the ground floor, the lift door opens and the others are waiting for us. Luca, future delta and Damien’s other best friend, Jasper, future gamma and huge ladies man and my other best friend Talulah who is also one of the top warriors in our pack. “Morning guys” “Hey” they all say in unison I down my pre work out and head to the training centre, it’s only a short walk from the pack house. We arrive 10 minutes early which gives me the chance to warm up before the intense training starts. I take myself over to a spare mat at the side to stretch, Talulah joins me usually just to chat my ear off about her on and off relationship with Damien. “Has he said anything to you” “Who” “Damien, obviously” “Oh, nothing to me. What’s happened?” “We had an argument last night and he stormed off” “Really, are you okay?” “Yes and no, I want to talk to him” “Maybe wait til after training as you need to be focused” With that Talulah got up to start training, I finished my stretching and followed her. Training is run by our Beta Jack as he is one of our top warriors, who is also my dad so you would think he would not be as tough on me but he’s the opposite, he wants me to be one the best as I will be taking over his role as Beta and being the first female beta it’s going to be a lot to take on. We started off learning new manoeuvres before we was paired off to practice these manoeuvres in defence and attack positions. I was paired with Damien, as most females would not go against me apart from Talulah. When we get in our stance I can see Damien is a little distracted. “Hey what’s up” “Just some stuff I need to work out” “With Talulah” “Yeah, guessing she told you” “Not really, just that you had a heated argument last night” Before Damien could reply he was interrupted by my dad giving his cue for people to start sparring and practicing the new manoeuvres. “Let’s begin! I want to see strength, speed and don’t be afraid to give feedback to your partner” With that we began, I was taking defence first so I let Damien make the first move. I used my wolf speed to move out the way and use my foot to swipe under Damien’s legs making him fall to the floor. He jumped up quickly and we went again. We changed roles after 30 minutes, after we had finished practice we had to run the borders of the pack before we could finish. The run would take a human hours to finish but as wolves it only takes about an hour at most. After training we all went over to the pack house for breakfast, the cooks always make a large buffet of bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, toast, fruit and cereals. I grab a bottle of water from the fridge and head for to the buffet. I pile my plate with food and head to our table. I am first the table, I’m enjoying the peace which lasts less than a minute when all the boys join. Damien sits next to me and the others sit in the other chairs. I notice Talulah isn’t there so I mindlink her “where are you”. “Sorry I couldn’t sit at breakfast with him so I got take out and when home” “okay girl, talk to him after breakfast and we will catch up later” and cut off mindlink. The boys are in a deep chat about having a games night. I decide to just eat my breakfast and just listen. “Jazzy, you up for a games night?” “Yeah sure, have you invited Talulah” Damien’s face when blank, Luca interrupted. “Yeah I’ve mind link her and she said she will come if she’s feeling up to it “ “Ok cool, Damien I don’t know what your argument is about but you need to sort it out” He didn’t reply he just carried on eating his breakfast. After breakfast I headed up to our floor so I could get out of my training gear and shower. As I go through the door, my mum and dad are sat in the couch talking about morning training. “Hey kiddo, you did good in training today. You really are showing that your made to be beta” “Thanks dad, I’m going to go shower and get ready to go meet Talulah” I head to my room, strip off my gym gear and put it in my laundry basket. I jump in the shower and let the hot water soothe my aching muscles. After I get out the shower I throw on a oversized T-shirt while I do my skin care and little make up, i mind link Tal to say I’ll be ready in 20 minutes if she wants to go shopping and get lunch. She quickly replies “I’ll meet you by your car” I guess I am driving then.. I quickly put on some skinny jeans and vest top as it’s really warm out, and it lets me show off my tattoos. My mum isn’t a fan of my tattoos but I love them. I throw on my trainers and grab my bag with my purse and keys in. As I’m leaving I say bye to my parents and head out. I get in the lift and get a mindlink from Damien “Hey, are you free?” “hey, I’m heading out to go shopping with Tal but have a couple of minutes before I need to meet her, what’s up?” “Oh ok, no worries. Can we talk when you get back before games night?” “Yes sure, I’ll let you know when I’m back” As I got to the ground floor, I go the my car. It’s my baby, Jeep wrangler, got it for my 18th birthday after I passed my test. Tal was already stood by my car waiting. “Hey girl, ready to shop” “Omg yess, I need this” “Okay only positive vibes while shopping” We set off and I’m only driving for 25 minutes with little traffic, the shopping centre is in the human town centre. We go into Sephora first and then went into every other shop we liked. We shopped til we dropped. Tal chose a diner for lunch, I was starving. I ordered chicken strips, bacon beef burger with loaded fries and a coke. Tal laughed at me as the Waitress gave me a funny look. When the food arrived I dug straight in. Damien’s POV My minds being running a marathon. I needed to talk to someone about the argument I had with Talulah. I didn’t want to bother Luca as he was training with our current delta and Jasper would give bad advice. I mind link Jazmin and when she told me she was going out with Tal I knew she needed her best friend right now as much as I do. I have to wait hours before I can talk to Jazmin about it all. More time for my brain to overthink. *4 hours later* “Hey Damien, I’m back from shopping want me to come straight up to you” “Hey, no I will come to your room cause I know you will have loads of shopping” “You know me too well, see you in a minute” I head down to jasmines floor, say hello to her parents before going to her room. Me and jasmine have grew up together, we are the same age well I’m a couple of months older but we have been through every milestone together and was both at each others first shift even if Jasmin couldn’t shift at mine she wanted to be there. She is my best friend. Jasmin POV After mind linking Damien, he was going to meet me on my floor. I said my goodbyes to Talulah and told her to come to games nights even if she hasn’t spoke to him. She agreed. I grabbed all my shopping and walked to the lift, when it got to my floor and headed straight to my room , not before getting a comment about all the shopping I had from dad , I just laughed and gave him a kiss on the cheek. I get to my room and Damien is sat on my couch at the bottom of my room. I throw my shopping onto my bed. “That is a lot of shopping” “Do you expect anything else” “Not really, get anything for me” “Actually I did” I threw him a shopping bag, I got him a pair of trainers he had his eye on a couple of weeks ago. “Jazzy you didnt have to, thank you” “Well I did cause I knew you wanted them and have been to busy last couple of weeks to go out and get them” After a few minutes of awkward silence, I break the ice “what did you want to talk about” “The argument with Tal, it was about her wanting to be my mate” “What?” “Yeah she wants me to pick her as my chosen mate if she isn’t my fated one and when I said no I wanted to wait to find my fated mate and she knew that, it just blew up” “That’s not fair for her to ask you to do that but it’s also not fair that you’ve let the relationship to get to point that feelings have got stronger specially on her side. “I know, i feel bad. I really like Tal but not enough to have her as my chosen mate and Luna. Moon goddess has chosen someone right for me and the pack.” “What you going to do” “I’ll have to end it with her, my birthday is in a couple of months and don’t want to risk it” “That’s a good idea. Maybe do it after games night just walk her home and be completely honest” The room went silent again, I just carried on putting my shopping away while Damien just sat on the couch watching me. Sometimes when I would look at him I would catch him staring at me. Thought it was a little weird but just left it. Once all my shopping was away, we headed down to the dining hall for dinner, it was steak night. We grabbed our plates and headed for the food, there was different steaks cooked differently, fries, mash, veggies and of course the peppercorn sauce my favourite. I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and sat down at our table, we sat at the same table for every meal, no one outside our group would sit there unless invited. Jasper would sometimes bring his fling of the week to join, usually was a low warrior or omega. When I sat down all the boys was chatting away, before I could say anything tal sat down next me with a smile on her face. “Damien’s asked to talk to me after games night” “Aww that’s good, hope things sort themselves out” “Yeah me too” Once we had finished up our food and the conversations had ended we headed up to the games room on the first floor, there was a gym, swimming pool and cinema aswell. Spent hours playing games, the boys were really competitive which made it even funnier when they lost. I could see Damien was nervous and was watching the time. 10pm..I decided I was going to call it a night and head to bed. The boys all went to watch a film and Damien walked Tal home, I wondered how the conversation went.
