22 Dunn was almost to the door that led backstage when the first bomb went off. The ground shook, and Slade shouted, “Take cover!” He dove for the side and crouched down near the wall, as low as he could get. The door in front of them burped, like the bomb was right on the other side. If they’d been just a few seconds faster, they could have been in the middle of the explosion. “Everyone okay?” Slade asked. Dunn pushed to his feet and brushed off his pants, then was knocked on his a*s by the second explosion. Definitely bigger, likely closer. As he fell to the ground, he slammed his elbow against the wall and pain splintered away from where it impacted. He cradled his arm and curled up, praying the ground beneath him didn’t give way.
