First day

Tuesday August 16,1955

Mason wakes up the next morning, I'm making breakfast and getting Jane ready for school. It was her first year of high school, I had to make sure it was perfect.

"Morning Mase." I say

"Morning Mal" he replied

"Do you want a ride to school?" I asked

"No I'll pass, Its already bad enough your my principal." He chuckled

Jane laughed at him, she liked the idea of me being the Principal. I attended Baiburg High School for all four years of high school. Graduated as Valedictorian, and I was captain of the cheer team. I got a call this summer asking if I would like to fill the position, how could I resist.

Mason, Nathan , Jane and I all sat down to breaksfast, in an akward silence until sweet Jane asked. "Mase, Nate. Can you show me around the school today?"

"We have a football meeting we need to go to this morning , sorry Jane." Said Mason

"I'll show you around, whats a better way to start your first year, but with a little help of the queen bee herself. You'll be fine." I said smiling at Jane.

Jane smiled back at me "Thanks Mallory."

Nate runs upstairs and grabs Mason and his book bags. While Mason is in the bathroom getting ready. They rush off to school to make it in time for their meeting.

I clear the breakfast table and wash the dishes.

"Jane go get your book bag and grab your lunch from the fridge." I yelled

We got in the car and were on our way to school. Before we went to school I stopped by Jene's coffee shop to grab my regular Esspresso with extra foam , extra vanilla, and extra espresso.

"Mallory? Is that you" asked Jene "their is only one person I know who orders extra everything with their esspresso."

I turn around to see the beautiful brownskined woman with a big smile on her face.

I grab her and give her a hug "Jene, yes it's me how have you been? How's Charles?" I asked

"Oh we're fine, how are you. You haven't stopped to see me in almost a year." She said worryingly

I looked over at Jane to make sure she didn't hear Jene, luckly she was head first in donuts. I came to see Jene once a month for the past few years to make sure she was okay after her husband passed away. The only thing she had left was here store, her son Charles and me. The last thing I need was for Mason to find out.

"We'll have to talk about this another time Jene." I said nodding toward Jane.

Jene nods in understanding.

I look down at my watch. "We're late, come on Jane grab a donut and let's go." I said

"It was great seeing you I'll be by tomorrow to catch up with you."

I tell Jene handing her what I owe.

"Bye! y'all be safe!" Jene exclaims.

We get in the car and pull off.

Mason and Nate just got out of their football meeting, and where headed to their lockers.

"Hey Mase." Smiles Danielle.

Danielle is the cheer captian and also the biggest b***h at Baiburg High, she couldn't wait to sink her teeth into Mason.

"Oh hey Dani." Mason replied as he opended his locker.

"How was your summer?" She asked

"It was normal. Prett-".

" Just normal, mine was amazing." Danielle babbled on cutting Mason off. When a mysterious figure caught his eye. It was her, the raven haired beauty.

Mason shut his locker interupting Danielle, "Hey yeah that sounds nice." Mason says walking in the direction he last seen the raven haired girl.

"Nate I'll meet you in class." Mason yells

The raven haired girl was moving through the crowd vastly, when finally he caught up to her.

"Well, it's nice to see you here." Mason smiled

"Where else would I be on a school day." She teased

"Ahh and she's funny, how was your summer."

"It was shitty. I don't really know anyone so I just stayed at home, You running me over yesterday was probably the highlight of my summer." She laughed

"I never got to officially apologize for that, I am truley sorry for pumbling you." Mason chuckles

They made eye contact for a quick second and looked away.

" I'm Amarianna, Amarianna Santiago." She says extending her hand out.

"Mason, Mason Maxwell." Mason smiled shaking her hand.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Maxwell." She grinned.

"Please just call me Mase, Mr. Maxwell is my dad." Mason laughed.

"Well Mase, whats your first period?"

"World history." He says.

"Mine too, mind walking with me." She replied.

"I kind of already am." Laughs mason

"Cute and funny." Amarianna smiles

Mason smiles back at her and they continue to class.

Jane and I walked into the school, and I took to her first period.

"I'm scared Mallory what if they think I'm weird. What if they laugh at me." Jane cries.

I grabbed Jane and gave her a hug and held her in my arms.

"You'll be fine. Being normal isn't cool anyways you wanna be a little weird." I reassured her. She smiled at me and nodded.

"Now get in there chump, you'll be fine." I say squeezing her for a second longer in my arms.

Jane walks into her class, I follow behind her to let her teacher know she's excused for being late.

When I walk in a gorgeous tall tan man with sandy brown hair and hazle eyes stands before me.

"Hello, Ms. Carter." He says.

"Hello, your Mr. Monaco ?" I question

"In flesh and blood." He smiles

"I was just letting you know it's my fault she late this morning." I explained

"It's fine Ms. Carter, Jane we're on page 10 in the purple text book." Says Mr. Monaco

"Thankyou." I mouthed to Mr. Monaco, he nodded and smiled.

What a dream boat.

I went to my office and began my daily duties.

Lunch rolls around, Mason, Nathan, Jane and Nathan's girlfriend Clair all sit together eating their lunch.

"So Jane how's your first day going so far." Asked Nathan

"It's okay, it's a lot bigger then Baiburg middle school. Other then that it's fun." Jane shrugs

"Well if you ever get lost or have a problem don't be afraid to ask one of us for help." Nathan reminds Jane.

"First day back how ya feeling Mase?" Nathan asked Mason

"It's school Nate." Laughed Mason.

"I saw Mason walking with some pretty girl this morning." Giggled Clair.

Mason playfully throws one of his fries at Clair. "Thanks Clair." He says

"Raven hair?" Questioned Nathan

Suddenly Mason see Amarianna walking his way.

"Amarianna!" Exclaims Mason waving her towards the table.

Everyone at the table turns their head to see who it was and they where stunned.

"Heya Mase." She sings

"Care to join us?" Asked Clair.

She sits down at the with table everyone stairing at her.

"Everyone this is Amarianna." Says Mason

"Amarianna, this is my big brother Nate, my little sister Jane , and Nates girlfriend Clair."

She waves to them all "Hello." She says.

" So your the girl my brothers been talking about." Laughs Nathan

Mason elbows Nathan in his side.

" No it probably wasn't me." She laughes

"He ran into you yesterday?" Nate asked

"Actually he trampled me don't let him lie to you." She says jokingly

They all laugh at her joke, and enjoy their lunch together. The beginning of a solid friendship. A untamed one too.

Lunch comes to an end when the bell rings. Everyone gathers their items and continues to class.

"Anna! Wait up." Yells Mase

"Anna?" Amarianna questions

" what you don't like it?"

She shakes her head in disapproval.

"What about Mari"

" I like that better." She smiles

"Well I noticed we have our last two periods together as well, mind if I walk with you?" Mason ask.

"You kind of already are." She chuckles.

"Touche, we gotta make a quick stop in the office first." Says Mason.

I'm sitting in my office filling out paper work and going over things for this years homecoming when Mason and Amarianna walk in.

"Hey Mase." I greet him, "who is this?"

"This is Amarianna, she's new to Baiburg."

It was suprising seeing my little brother with a girl, and him actually acknowledging her.

"Hello I'm Ms. Carter." I said

She smiles and waves

Mason gives me a look of curiosity, he didn't know I changed my last name.

"Um, yeah I was wondering if you've talked to coach today?" Asked Mason

"No I haven't gotten around to it yet, I've been planning for homecoming. Trying to get cheerleading tryouts in order. He wasn't at the meeting this Morning?" I question.

"No, he wasn't." Mason tells me.

Hmm , that's off my father almost never misses anything football.

"You guys don't have a homecoming committee?" Questioned Amarianna, changing the subject.

"We did when I went here, but no not this year student council doesn't have a president to do all the planning. So I'm stuck with it. Until a suitable candidate comes forward." I inform her.

"I would be more then happy to help you. I was part of the homecoming committee back home." Says Amarianna

"Really? Well how would you feel about running to be President of student council?" I asked

"That's sounds great." Amarianna said ecstatically.

I handed Amarianna the paper work for student council.

"The only thing is, to be student council president you have to do a sport or something, it's a must." I tell Amarianna.

"You should try out for cheerleading." Says Mason.

"You think so?" Questioned Amarianna.

"Yea." Smiled Mason.

"Well it's settled cheerleading it is. Whachya think Mase are we looking at the new cheerleading captain of the Baiburg Titans." I asked eagerly .

"Yea actually I do." Smiled Mason.

"But we have to get to class, I just wanted to stop by and check on you see how your first day is going, and to see if you talked to coach." He finished.

"It's good Mase, I'm good. He'll be at practice after school today." I say, "Let me write you two a pass to class, I'll see you later." I tell Mason.

" Yea, sure thing." Mason confirms

They leave the office and head to class.

"I don't mean to intrude or be nosey, but Ms. Carter? You favor her. Is that your mom?" Asked Amarianna as they took their seats in class.

I never thought about how much me and Mason actually looked alike. It's kind of spooky. He could be my son. Only I have sandy blonde hair with greenish blue eyes.

"Yea, No that's my big sister Mallory." Laughs Mason.

"Oh wow, she's must be young, and she the principal, amazing. She seems really nice." Says Amarianna.

"I think she's Twenty-four but yeah she is, for the most part." Laughed Mason.

The School day ended. Mason walked Amarianna to her dads car, and went to practice.

"Maxwell get your ass over here." Yells

Mr. Maxwell.

" Yea coach." Sighs Mason

"So you didn't come home at all, didn't call me or your mom!" Yells Mr.

Maxwell.

"At least I came to practice." Snapped Mason.

"We'll talk about this later tonight at home. Get on the field NOW! " Yelled Mr. Maxwell.

Mason ran out to the field to begin the scrimmage. Although he didn't enjoy football he was the best player at Baiburg, he was untouchable.

"Watch out for me pretty boy."

Laughed Derrikk.

Derrikk Tate, two time senior, son of the Mayor Wayne Tate. Stands about Six feet weights roughly around two-seventy five. Not a lot bigger then Mason. Dark completion, with a smile just a tad bit brighter then Mason's with chocolate eyes. Another one of the fatal attractions.

He's been after the quater back spot since he transferred to Baiburg two years ago.

" I would, if you where a challenge." Mason said dissovling in to laughter.

Derrikk shot a look of abhorrence at Mason.

The scrimmage began. Soon after wards practice ended and Mason came looking for me.
