The Rarity of the Luna

She quietly pulled her bag from under her bed, cringing as it seemed like the scratching echoed through out the quiet house. She threw the bag over her shoulder before checking her wallet for the hundredth time, worried that the money she saved would no longer be there. With a sigh if relief, she shoved the wallet into her bag and made her way out of the room. The darkness loomed before her as she quietly crept down the empty hallway. She flinched as the first step made a loud squeak under her foot. After a moment of quiet breathing, she tried to quickly run down the steps, only stopping to make sure nobody heard her. She heard the sound of laughter floating from the lit up living room as she carefully peeked around the corner. Her father and Alpha Brandon sat near the fire laughing and drinking. "Your daughter is an absolute beauty. She reminds me so much of my late Charlotte. She must take after her mother, hm?", Brandon asked. Her father let out a sigh, swirling what looked to be scotch, around his glass. "She does......I miss my Julie everyday....it's why I'm so desperate to marry her off.....I love my daughter greatly but I can't look at her without seeing my dear wife.....you will care for her won't you?", he asked with concern. Brandon let out a loud laugh, slapping my father on his shoulder. "Of course! She will make an excellent addition to my pack." I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Alpha Brandon was known to kill off his mistresses once he grew bored of them. Rumor has it that he killed his mate after growing tired of her and blamed it on a rogue attack. I'll be damned if I become the next. With one last glance, I rushed out the front door, shutting it quietly behind me, before racing into the woods. ****** Lights shown through the trees in the distance. I have been traveling for over a week now, barely stopping for more than am hour nap here and there. I carefully peaked out at the little town before me, I had traveled four states over and was now somewhere in Washington State. It was now night time as I made my way to the little INN. Luckily enough, it was still opened as I pushed through the door. I glanced around, taking in the quiet atmosphere that enveloped me. As I made my way to the counter, a small older woman stepped out from behind a curtain behind the counter. "Hey sweetie, how can I help you?", she asked with a kind smile. "Can I get a room please?", I asked her before hesitating. "Anything on the second level available?" She smiled at me before typing away on her little computer. "Well hun, lucky for you we have two rooms left on the top floor. How long will you be staying?" I thought for a moment, contemplating on what would be safe. I was far enough away that I doubt my father or pack could find me. "I guess a week should be fine for now. Thank you." She typed away on her computer before reaching behind her and grabbing a set of keys, placing them beside her. "Ok dear, I just need your credit card information and any form of ID. And I also need you to fill out this paperwork." I froze in the middle of signing and looked at her in fear. I was trying to keep my paper trail to a minimum in the fear that my father would drag me back. "Um....is....is there any way I could leave some information blank? And pay with cash?", I asked with uncertainty. "Well dear, it is protocol. Is everything ok? Are you in danger?", she asked with sudden concern. "Well my father....he Um....", I hesitated. "Say no more, I can easily say we lost some paperwork. Here's your key and here's my direct number. You can usually find me around here but if on the rare occasion I'm not, call that number.", she said while handing me a business card. I smiled at her gratefully while grabbing the keys from her. "Thank you so much. I will try not to be a bother." "It's no problem dear, have a good nights rest." I made my up the stairs, wariness tugging at my tired bones. Finally, I came to my room and carefully pushed the door opened. A queen sized bed sat before me along with a little nightstand and small dresser. A tv hung on the wall and the air conditioner was blowing full blast as I stepped in. Can we finally take a shower? Sorry but we reek to high heaven. "Jeez, thanks Cleo. And I thought we smelled like roses.", I stated with sarcasm. I threw my belongings on the bed before walking into the bathroom. It was not as big as my old bathroom but it was better than nothing. I turned the hot water on before stepping in the scalding water. I couldn't hold back the sigh of content that escaped my lips as the water washed away all the dirt and grime from my body. After my much needed shower, I finally threw some clean clothes on and dragged myself to bed. The mattress was soft and comfortable as I finally slipped into a peaceful sleep. ****** I awoke to the sunlight seeping through the curtains and shining into my eyes. I sat up with a yawn as I stretched away the sleep from my body. I quickly dressed for the day before my stomach let out a loud growl. After a little argument, with I think her name was Maria, I made my way into the little town and it's diner. I was seated quickly as it was a slow morning. I quickly ordered some coffee and a heaping plate of pancakes, eggs, and bacon before handing back my menu. As I waited, I quietly sipped on my coffee while watching the little town. "Can I sit with you?", a voice suddenly interrupted. I whipped my head around at the sudden interruption to see a rather handsome guy standing in front of me. I looked around the empty diner and raised my eyebrow. "The entire diner is empty. You can't sit somewhere else? Alone?" He grinned a boyish smile at me before running his hand through his tasseled brown hair. "Well I could, but why would I let a beauty like you sit alone?" I rolled my eyes at his flirting and motioned towards the empty seat across from me. "Help yourself but I'm not interested." He sat down in the booth, leaning back examining me. "How long are you here for?" I eyed him warily, taking a sip of my coffee. "Just a week, then I'm moving on." He nodded his head before his eyes turned serious. I could tell he was another werewolf. "You know you're trespassing right?" I choked on my coffee and glared at him. "No, I did realize I was in another pack's territory. If that's the case, I'll leave tonight." "Or....", he started. "Or what?", I asked with a little edge in my voice. "Or you can beg the Alpha to stay?", he asked mischievously. I stared at him in shock. "I don't beg and I damn sure won't beg a stuck up Alpha to stay. I'd rather leave." "You know, rogues don't make it out of here alive." I glared at him in anger. "First off, I'm not a rogue and second are you threatening me?", I growled. He held his hands up in surrender, backing down. "Calm down. I'm just saying." He extended his hand towards me. "I'm beta Zachary, what's your name?" I looked at him with uncertainty before shaking his hand. "Scarlett." "Well, nice to meet you Scarlett and welcome to Crater Moon." I gave him a look before taking my hand back. "Yeah....thanks. I'll be out by tonight ok? Just don't tell your alpha. It will be like I was never here.", I pleaded. "Well....I could let it slip through the cracks.....on one condition." "And that is?" Zach smirked at me, playfulness in his eyes. "You hang out with me this week. And if you like what you see around here maybe you will consider joining?", he asked hopefully. I eyed him with uncertainty. My wolf seemed to like him, but if I gave this a chance, there was a chance of being found by my previous pack. "If I chose this.....to stay here......won't your mate be a little jealous that you asked another she wolf to stay?" A look of sadness clouded his eyes. "Um...well actually my mate rejected me....it's ok though....she was the pack skank anyway." He shrugged his shoulders as if he was brushing it off. "So what do you say?" I thought for a moment, before I could ponder anymore the waitress came back and delivered our food. My mind went completely blank as I started to shovel food into my mouth. I stopped mid-chew to see him smirking at me. "Whaff?", I asked with a full mouth. "Nothing nothing. Usually women I've been around eat salads and all this healthy s**t to maintain their figure and I just watched you shovel an entire stack of pancakes into your mouth like it was nothing." I swallowed my last mouthful and wiped the syrup from my lip. "What? I'm food motivated. Can't help that I love food more." Zach erupted into laughter as we finished breakfast. The waitress stopped by with the check and a glare in my direction. As I went to grab the check, Zach quickly snatched it away. "I got this." "What? There's no need, I can pay myself. Not to mention Ms. Big t**s over there is death glaring me and if you pay it looks like a date." Zach looked towards the glaring waitress and I watched as his eyes clouded in anger. He whipped out exact change and slammed it on the table. "Let's go." He stood up from the table and waited as I stood up. Before I knew what was happening, he suddenly grabbed me and pulled me in for a kiss. When he pulled away I stood there in utter shock. Before I could react he pulled me out the door with him and into the parking lot. We stopped in front of a brand new F-150. "Look, I'm sorry bu........" CRACK "Did you just slap me?", he asked incredulously. "Who the f**k do you think you are??? You can't just kiss me just to piss some bimbo off!", I seethed. "Why?" "W-Why what?", he sputtered. "Why the f**k did you kiss me?", I snapped. Zach let out a groan as he rubbed the back of his neck. "That was my mate....." My anger slowly fizzled out as I stared at him. I stepped towards him and pulled him into a hug. "I'm still pissed. You could've told me that but I understand." I pulled away and stared at him for a minute. "Well, Imma head out. I got to look around and get an idea of what I'm dealing with so I'll see you later Zach." As I turned to go, Zach quickly grabbed my hand, stopping me. "Wait. You don't have to go now do you? I could show you around? I know a great place where we can be "ourselves" if you know what I mean?" I couldn't help but smile at his goofy grin before I finally caved. "Fine, but no funny business ok? I still don't know you." He laughed before motioning towards the opposite door. "Deal, now hop in." I hesitantly climbed in the opposite side of the truck before turning my attention to him. "Alright, so where too?" After about an hour of driving, Zach pulled off the main road and onto a dirt path. He drove for another few minutes before stopping the truck and shutting it off. I looked around warily as I noticed we were in the middle of nowhere. "You're gonna kill me aren't you?" Zach burst out in laughter as he stared at me. "Dude you watch to many horror movies. Now let's go." He opened his door and hopped out before coming to my side and opening the door for me. Once my feet hit the ground, we made our way onto a narrow path. After what seemed like forever, Zach came to an abrupt stop. "We're here. Try not to attack me in sudden s****l lust ok? I'm just a poor virgin.", he joked. I slapped him on the arm at his dramaticness. "OW! THAT HURT!" "Oh suck it up big bad beta. Jeez." Zach shot me a glare then pulled the bushes aside. The sight before me made me gasp in awe as we stepped into a small clearing. A beautiful waterfall cascaded down some mossy rocks to create a small crystal blue pool. "Wow this is beautiful.", I walked down to the lapping water and kicked my shoes off. The icy water lapped at feet in a cooling bliss. "Screw this, wanna swim?", I asked excitedly. "But we didn't bring any clothes?", he asked in confusion. I shrugged my shoulders. "Eh that's not my problem." I took my shirt off and threw it to the side and quickly undid the button to my shorts. "Whoa whoa whoa! You promised not to rape me!", he whined in fake hurt. "Oh shut up and come swim with me.", I giggled as I jumped into the water. My blood red hair pooled out around me as I swam to a rock on the opposite side. I turned to see Zach staring with his mouth wide opened. "You coming or what?" He nodded his head quickly before stripping down to his boxers and jumped in. He swam up to the rock I was perched on and grabbed my ankles. "Don't you da.....", before I could finish my sentence he yanked me into the water. I swam back to the surface and gasped for air. "You asshat! What was that for?" Zach shrugged his shoulders before splashing me. I gasped at him before splashing him back. Before long we were in a full out war. The time ticked by and by the time we finally gave up on our water fight the sun started to set. We stood up in the water and stared at the sky as purple and red stripes streaked across the sky. "I think we should get going. It'll be dark soon.", Zach said with a hint of disappointment. I smiled at him as I swam up to him. "Thank you. This is the most fun I've had in a while. It's nice to forget about life's problems for once." He stared at me and smiled kindly, "It was my pleasure. Maybe tomorrow we can continue the fun?" I grinned at him as I stood up in front of him. "Maybe, I guess we'll have to see." "I guess so.", he whispered. We stared at each other in silence as the sky began to darken. After several more minutes of silence, Zach let out a sigh. "I guess we better g....." Before he could finish, I smashed my lips against his. He stood rigid before he wrapped his arms around my waist. My arms snaked around his neck as I deepened the kiss. His hands slid down and grabbed my legs, wrapping them around his waist. Our tongues danced as the temperature began to heat between us. I felt his legs begin to move as we made our way to the shore. I felt the roughness of the sand scratch my back as his weight settled on me. I knew I shouldn't do this but hell, I couldn't remember the last time I was this happy, this content. I quickly shoved him onto his back and straddled his hips. I could feel his length harden between my legs as I ground my sensitive core against his c**k. I started to pant as I felt that familiar sensation start to build in my stomach as my hips rotated against him. I heard him groan as his nails dug into my hips. Just as I was about to get my release his phone went off. He growled in frustration as he reached for his pants and pulled his phone out. "Gahhh....it's the alpha.....i have to take this." I nodded my head and climbed off his lap. My high started to wear down and the realization of what I did started to appear. I quickly started to dress as he ended his call. "I gotta head back......he needs me for something important.......I'll drop you off at your hotel...." I nodded my head in silence as we went back to the truck and started to make the awkward drive back.
