2. [Good news]

Three years later...... It's a beautiful Friday morning. Amara had been awoken ten minutes before her alarm clock by the faint chirping of birds and the golden rays of the sun shining through the window blinds. She pulled off her sleep mask, stared at the ceiling for a while before turning to her right to look at Cole; who came to spend the night. Amara was up all night working and as tired as she was, she had to go to work. She gently rolled the sheet off her and slowly got out of bed in order not to wake Cole who is sleeping like a baby with the cutest snores. After speedily doing her morning chores and a quick workout, she ate her breakfast and hopped into the shower. Standing in front of the mirror, Amara, dressed in a black short skirt and long sleeved slim fit suit, she adjusts her jacket to cover the black and white striped vest underneath. To her everything seemed wrong, her makeup, her hair, her clothes. She looked at herself, tilted her head both sides and shrugged. She looked down and noticed the skirt barely reached her knees. Although she felt comfortable she thought people would say she looked slutty, even though she is not. Perhaps a skinny pant she said in her mind. Cole was already awake and watching her. To him she was perfect. A beautiful and remarkable woman. He felt like the happiest man on earth. Cole sneaked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist and gave her a tender kiss on the neck. "Good morning babe." Cole whispered in her ear. "Oh God!" She jumped holding her chest. "Morning; you scared me babe. Hope I didn't wake you?" "Sorry!" He said with a soft smile. "No, you didn't. You are looking amazing as always." He growled lightly grazing her neck with his teeth. She looked closely into the mirror. "Nice try! I look awful but I don't have time to change. Do you think I should wear long pants instead?" Cole let go of her waist, put his hands on her shoulders and turned her to face him. "No, babe. Why would you want to hide these legs? You'd still look amazing either way." He then put his hands on her neck, gave her a kiss on the cheek and went into the bathroom. She smiled. "Thank you. I know you are just saying that to make me happy." She continued with her makeup and then applied a cherry red lipstick on her thin lips. She took off her shower cap and now her long curly hair were now cascading around her shoulders. As she searched for a suitable yet comfortable pair of shoes to wear, she heard the vibration of her cell notifying her of a text. Between putting on her shoes and grabbing her cell she almost fell on her face which luckily Cole grabbed onto her hand and held her steady. "And here I thought you had already fallen for me. Should I be jealous?" He said in a playful tone. "Thanks, I have to get to work. Can you feed Risky before you leave please, I'm already running late as it is." She replied flatly. Even thou Amara loved Cole; she couldn't bring herself to forgive him for his indiscretions. She wasn't afraid of love or being with someone but what she was afraid of was being lied to or cheated on. For months she was getting suspicious of Cole and his secrets. His late nights and his hush hush phone calls but she never called him out on it. She wanted to give the benefit of the doubt that he wasn't cheating, that he was just working late and being quiet on the phone so he wouldn't wake her. Suddenly it wasn't just the calls or the late nights, it was the travelling and the hotel receipts for two yet she never mentioned it. She trusted him, maybe too much like she trusted Liam. He held onto her hand as she was about to walk away. "Mara please, I can't keep living like this...we can't keep living like this. For months now we barely talk, yes, I come over and spend the night but we don't have s*x--." He hang his head and dropped his hands to his side. He was right about everything. Our relationship haven't felt like a relationship ever since he came clean, well when he got caught and then came clean but I couldn't see him as the man I fell in love with, I couldn't see him as the man I thought I knew. I couldn't see him as Cole. "Baby I love you and I want to make this work; I want to make us work but you're not giving me the chance to. I'm at a lost and it's killing me. I know I messed up big time but baby I'm willing to do anything to show you how much I love you and want you Amara. Please baby, I'm begging you, don't give up on us just yet. Don't give up on me." His voice broke and it broke her heart just a little to see him like that. So vulnerable. She turned to face him and for a moment she contemplated on forgiving him. "I umm--. We--." She couldn't say it. She couldn't utter the words her mind wanted her to say, so, instead she left. She grabbed her purse, car keys and cell then she left. Not baring to give him another look. She can admit Cole was in pain but so was she. Most of all he broke her trust in him and it'll take time to repair. If it ever gets repaired. As she pulled up in the parking lot, she turned off the car engine and just stared out ahead. She was confused. A part of her wanted her to forgive him and rebuild their relationship and another part wanted her to move on but she loved him. So, what must she do. Removing her phone from her purse, it rang instantly showing Aurora's name on the screen. The one person who can probably give her some advice to her current dilemma. With Aurora she didn't have to fake a smile or pretend to be happy. No, Aurora always had a way of seeing right through her lies and all. And even though she was the older sister, she loved her sister's advice. "Hey Rora." She answered trying to muster the best smile she can. "Mara I'm getting married!" She screamed in the phone. Amara had to remove the phone from her ears so her sister's screaming wouldn't blow her ear drum. Amara couldn't help but smile. Her sister's laughter always soothed her troubled mind and this morning she really needed it. "Omg Ro, I'm so happy for you." "Thank You, Thank You." She started screaming again. "Ro, Ro calm down please, your screams are deafening." She practically had to scream herself to get her sister's attention. "Sorry, I'm just so fricking happy. When Trent asked me last night, it was the most magical night." She screamed again; this time lower than before. "Tell you what, how about I call you after work and you tell me all about it. How does that sound?" "Okay, I will. I can't wait to tell you all about it." She said joyfully. "Okay good, well I'll call you after work. Oh, and Ro, Congrats sis, I'm really happy for you. Gotta go love you, bye." They said their goodbyes and hang up. Feeling ten times better than she did before the call, Amara was ready to face the world. So, she got out of her car and continued the rest of her day with a smile. An actual smile.
