1. [The first meet]
For Amara, family is everything and her younger sister, Aurora, is her world. Her best friend. The one person she can always count on. They've spent most of their lives together but they don't see each other much, she keeps in contact with her sister and family regularly through phone calls and texts, social media, and Facetime. Amara left Merristwood for the city ten years ago. After her eighteenth birthday, she left to study media Art at St. George's College. Life away from Merristwood hasn't been quite easy for Amara. She had to leave her family, friends and even her then boyfriend, Liam, behind in order to pursue her dreams. The first few months were the worst. The food, the business, noise, culture and people. She knew no one at the college. However, she eventually made some friends and became very close with her roommate, Alice. Alice and Amara spent a lot of their times together because they live together, obviously, and were also doing the same major, Media and Communication (BA). They both want to become journalists. Their shared interests made them bond even more. Unfortunately, Alice was able to get into the Young Journalists Internship Program at The Newtown Post whereas Amara was 30 minutes' drive away working as an assistant to the editor of a small, less known media company. About 2 years later, Alice told Amara about an opening at The Newtown Posts. She applied for the job and was reunited with Alice, who is now a reporter. Due to her work ethics, Amara was finally given a column in the paper, giving love and relationship advice. She loves to be active and because most of her work involve sitting down, she decided to join the gym. It's been a long day but Amara still wanted to do some work out before calling it a day. That evening she went into the gym. She had on a dark grey push up bra and black tight shorts. After doing some squats she decided to do some cardio by running on the treadmill. From the corner of her eye someone started running on the next treadmill. At first, Amara didn't notice him but he caught her attention when he increased the speed. He was breathing hard and fast. "Men, always trying to show off at the gym," she thought to herself. She took a glance at him. "He's hot though. Look at those biceps and strong arms." They both continued with their different routines. Amara took a seat on the bench, removed her water bottle from her bag and took a sip from it. The cool sensation of the water soothed her heated temperature. "Hello, I'm Cole. Don't think I've seen you around here before," as he extends a friendly hand to shake hers. "What's your name?" Amara thought he was cute and his approach wasn't like that of a typical man. He spoke with a soft gentle voice for a man who has been running so fast. Amara placed the bottle on the bench, wiped her hands on her pants and shook his hands. "My name is Amara and I recently joined the gym." "Nice to meet you, Amara. How is it going so far?" "Good so far. Still struggling with some of the equipment but the staff are quite helpful." "Yes, they are. I struggled my first few weeks here as well. I'm here mostly on Friday and Saturday evenings so don't hesitate to ask for my assistance if need be." "Will bear that in mind." Amara replied as she bent down to gather her bag. "It was lovely to meet you, Cole. See you around." Over the next few weeks they continued to run into each other. Cole assisted her in her workout routine. He showed her how to use the water rower, glute machine, and hack squat. Sometimes they'd race each other on the stationary bikes, which Amara absolutely love to ride. Cole has been training to become a paramedic and hasn't been to the gym in a while. Then, one afternoon he ran into Amara and Alice as they were out having lunch. Cole was entering the restaurant and the girls were coming out. "Hi Amara." "Oh, hey Cole, haven't seen you at the gym in a while." "I recently started training to be a paramedic, so, that has taken most of my time. I don't have your number so there was no way to tell you. Are you still going to the gym?" "Oh, I see. I missed being challenged at the gym." He smiled at her. "This is Alice, my best friend, since college. We both work at The Newtown Posts". "Nice to meet you Alice." "Alice, this is Cole, remember I told you about him?" "Oh, hi Cole. Alice and Cole shook hands. "Lovely to meet you" "it's nice to see you again but we have to rush back to work" "May I have your number please" Cole requested. "Yea, sure. Let me have your phone." Cole politely handed her his phone; she entered the number and gave the phone back to Cole. "I will call you. Enjoy your day." "Hope to see you at the gym soon." "Bye Cole." Alice said as they walked into the street. "Girl, you didn't tell me he was hot!" Exclaimed Alice. "Yes, he is. Probably married or have a girlfriend." Amara said in a not-very-exciting tone. "He asked for your number though." They talked and laughed as they walked into the crowd. Cole eventually called Amara a few days later. They hit it up almost instantly after their first date. He was a real gentleman in every sense and Amara felt safe with him. He was easy to talk to and outgoing. She quite enjoyed his silly jokes. They took things slowly until she eventually invited him to her place where they had a good romantic evening. The next morning Amara woke up next to a sleeping Cole. He seemed so at peace while he slept. Quietly she got out of bed and headed to the kitchen. Since, it was a Saturday morning she decided on making breakfast for both her and Cole. As she was about to flip the last pancake, she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her slender body and a warm kiss on the neck. "Morning gorgeous." He spun her around and planted another kiss on her lips. "Morning handsome, your just in time. Breakfast is ready so take a seat and I'll serve you a plate." She pecked his cheek and returned her attention to the stove. "I was thinking maybe we can go to the park later, that's if you're up to it." She smiled as she placed his breakfast in front of him. "I would love to and since its Saturday, how about we spend an extra hour in bed then we go to the park." He said as he winked at her. She blushed. "If I didn't know any better Mr. Riley, I'd say your trying to get me back to bed to have a repeat of last night." He smiled his megawatt smile. "Would that be a bad thing Ms. Castillo?" She shook her head at him. "Not at all but first I need food. After the night we had, I know exactly what's about to come." She blushed again. They continued their breakfast with random topics. Everything was going great between them. She was happy again, both with her job and the new man in her life. Cole wasn't Liam but he was a man she can see herself loving and having a family with.
