Synopsis

Three years ago, Ethan, the nation's strongest war general, was severely injured and lost his ability to walk after a major battle against an enemy coalition. Injured and helpless, he was forced to marry Zea, the William family's most talented heiress. However, the marriage was not out of love-it was part of Zea's family's plan to destroy his career and ensure control remained in her brother's hands.

In everyone's eyes, Ethan was just a weak and useless son-in-law, a flawed man who depended solely on his wife. Zea herself hated the marriage, seeing Ethan as an obstacle in her life. What's more, Ethan often disappeared for a few days every month, spending large sums of money without any reasonable explanation.

However, what no one knew was that Ethan was secretly undergoing secret rehab, waiting for the right time to return. When Zea finally loses everything to her own family's schemes, she asks for a divorce-but that's when the truth begins to unfold.

At the same time, news of the legendary War General's **return** shakes the world. William's greedy family seeks a relationship with the general, not realizing that the man they seek **is the man they've been underestimating**.

Now, Ethan stands tall, ready to avenge all insults and protect the only woman who should be his.

When the underestimated son-in-law turns out to be the God of War, who's going to bend the knee?

Chapter 1: Divorce
The room was cold despite the crystal chandeliers illuminating every corner. Ethan moved his wheelchair towards the study, but before he could open his mouth, Zea's sharp voice greeted him. "You're leaving again?" The woman's eyes looked at him sarcastically. "How long is this time? Three days? A week? Or are you coming home after my money runs out?" Ethan was silent for a moment. He should have gotten used to this—the cold stares, the sharp words, and the distrust that deepened with each passing day. Yet, somehow, tonight, it felt more painful. "I'll be right back," he replied, his voice remaining calm. Zea laughed sarcastically. "Of course you will. Always." Without warning, the porcelain cup in her hand floated towards him. Ethan saw it but did not move. The cup shattered in his lap, the hot tea water seeping into the fabric of his pants, soaking the legs that could no longer feel pain. Zea looked up at him with an uncertain look in her eyes. For a moment, she seemed to hesitate but quickly pushed her emotions aside. "Three years. During that time, I waited for an explanation, but you always disappeared without a trace. Coming home without saying anything. And every time you come back, tens of thousands disappear. What exactly are you doing?!" Ethan clenched his hands on the wheelchair handles. He wanted to explain, but there were things he couldn't reveal yet. Zea took a deep breath. "I'm already tired, Ethan. If you're not going to explain, it's best if we end things." For the first time that night, Ethan looked at her earnestly. Divorce? He had expected this, but hearing it straight from Zea's mouth made his chest feel tight. "I will help you reclaim everything that is yours," he said finally. Zea frowned. "What do you mean?" "I will help you take back your company." Zea laughed without humor. "What kind of joke is this? Do you want to help me? With what? With your wheelchair?" Her words were piercing, but Ethan remained calm. He was used to being underestimated by Zea's family, by the business world, and even by the woman now standing in front of him. "Just wait and see," he replied quietly, his voice laden with hidden meaning. Zea let out a long breath. "I didn't have time to wait. The Choy family has taken everything from me. The company I built from scratch, the shares I own, and even my good name. If I don't act soon, I won't be able to get back on my feet." Ethan understood the situation. Three years ago, Zea had surpassed her brother in the business world, proving herself to be the most capable successor. However, her family did not want a female leader. Her grandmother arranged this marriage not out of compassion but to destroy her. And now, the trap had swallowed Zea whole. "You want revenge?" asked Ethan. Zea gave him a sharp look. "I just want to reclaim what is rightfully mine." Ethan gave her a long look before finally saying, "Fine. Then I'll make sure you get it back." Zea squinted, incredulous. "And I'm just supposed to trust you?" "No," Ethan answered calmly. "But in the next few days, you'll find out that I'm not a man to be underestimated." Zea snorted, clearly unfazed. To her, Ethan was just a flawed man who married her because of his family's scheme. Since the beginning of the marriage, Ethan had always disappeared for a few days every month, spent large sums of money without explanation, and returned without saying anything. Three years. For three years, Zea waited for answers, but all she got was silence. Now, when she had lost everything, this man suddenly said he would help her. "Get out of my room," Zea said finally. Ethan didn't move, staring at Zea standing in front of him, tears streaming down her face. Every word that left her lips felt like a dagger piercing his heart. "I've had enough of this, Ethan," her voice trembled with emotion. Three years! For three years, I endured it all, defending my husband in front of people who laughed at me. But what did I get?" Ethan opened his mouth, wanting to explain, but Zea continued in an increasingly angry tone. "You disappeared for days with no news, spent my money, and came back like nothing had happened! People out there said you used my money to support a mistress. I'm being ridiculed for keeping a man who doesn't have any value in their eyes!" Ethan clenched his fists on the wheels of his chair. He knew how the world looked at him: a deformed man, a useless son-in-law, a burden to his wife. But hearing Zea say it directly hurt him more than any insult he had ever received. "Zea..." his voice was hoarse, full of sadness. "I-" "Don't call my name in that pathetic voice!" Zea cut him off, dismissing his outstretched hand. "You don't deserve to be my husband, Ethan. I need a man I can rely on. Someone who can stand by my side, protect me, not just depend on me!" Ethan frost. Unfit to be a husband...? Zea took something out of her shirt pocket and then held it up high. It was a silver necklace with a small pendant that already looked a little worn. "I only love one person," she said in a cold voice. Someone who saved me on the battlefield many years ago. He left me a necklace like this, the same. He is the hero I want to be. Not you!" Ethan stared at the necklace, and at that instant, his chest felt like it had been hit with a heavy blow. It was his necklace. Seven years ago, in the middle of a chaotic battlefield, he had saved a young girl from danger. He vividly remembered the moment she fell into his arms, her face filled with fear and despair. Before parting, he had hung his necklace around her neck because, at the time, he didn't think she would survive. However, in the chaos of war, the necklace itself disappeared. And now, it was in Zea's hands. So... the girl he saved... It was his wife. Ethan paused, his emotions in turmoil. He wanted to reveal the truth and tell Zea that the man she had been looking for was him. However, seeing Zea's hateful gaze towards him, the words caught in his throat. Zea would never believe him. Even if he told the truth, Zea would still reject him.
