Anya’s life didn’t break the day her mother died.

It rotted from the inside out.

At twenty-three, she’s nothing more than collateral..sold into an arranged marriage to settle a debt that was never hers. Trapped. Powerless. Alone.

Until one reckless night changes everything.

One drink.

One lapse in control.

One drug she never agreed to.

She wakes up with fragments of a memory that feels more like a nightmare..and a truth far worse than betrayal.

The man she was promised to isn’t weak.

He’s been pretending.

And the stranger from that night?

He isn’t a mistake.

He’s been watching her.

Waiting.

Obsessing.

And he’s not the only one.

Now Anya is caught between two men who don’t just want her, they claim her. Bound by secrets, rivalry, and something far darker than desire, they circle her like predators, each willing to destroy anything...or anyone...to keep her.

Including each other.

Including her.

Because this isn’t love.

It’s possession.

And the deeper she’s pulled into their world, the clearer the truth becomes,

There is no escape.

Only surrender…

or survival.

Strangers In My Bed is a dark, addictive romance where obsession devours reason, power replaces love, and once you’re chosen..there’s no walking away.

Arranged Marriage
Chapter One Anya Pov. “What?” My voice felt unfamiliar and full of the pain I was feeling as I sat before my father and stepmother but he simply stared at me without any hint of emotion on his face. “You heard me clearly. I didn't raise a deaf child. You will go in place of your sister to pay off the debt the family owe, you're the elder sister you should be more accommodating” he spat with distaste marring his face, a stark contrast to how it was just seconds ago and I felt my heart shatter into pieces as my eyes began to well up with tears. “Accommodating? I have been nothing short of accommodating since you brought this vixen into this house alongside her mother. She used the money, she should pay it back her-” I yelped softly as a sharp sting landed on my face and my head swung to the side as my father rose to his feet, eyes blood shot as he stared me down. “You will not speak to me like that and neither would you insult your mother and siste-” “She is not my mother and neither is her child related to me!” I exclaimed with tears in my eyes as I sprang to my feet, cutting him off and he glared hard at me with disdain. Why…why did he look at me without the love a father should have for their daughter?.. what had I ever done to him?. “If you dare speak out of line again, I will-” “Do what? Beat me up? Lock me up? Take me to a mental hospital? You've done much worse than that…” I trail off, the treacherous tears I had been holding back falling down my cheeks as I flail my hands about, trying to make him see that I didn't want this at all. “Anya darling? Don't be like that, your father means well for you and you sound like he's trying to kill you which is not true. Jasmine is frail and cannot be married n–” “And she can have orgies when you're not around? What frail sister she is to be able to have such strength and undergo more than ten men at the same ti-” she slapped me hard across my face, cutting me off and I smiled with bitterness at the panic that flashed in her eyes before she quickly masked it with a smile when father turned to her in question. “That's just childish talk, she just wants your attention diverted from the matter at hand.” She quickly lied through her teeth and stroked father's chest for a while and disgust rolled through me. “Pathetic wimp” I cussed lowly with pain in my voice as he turned back to face me, completely bought over…as always. “It has already been decided and there's nothing you can do other than listen to my orders and obey them. The marriage is scheduled to happen tomorrow evening…” “Tomorrow evening?” I was stunned, I didn't want to marry that good for nothing simp of a man. Whose whole days is spent fraternizing with women of different types and shapes, a man with no life direction, a man whose whole life plan stops at the use of his family's finances. “I will not marry that foolish bastard and there's nothing you can do about it!!” I screeched before I turned around to leave, my mind conjuring images of how quickly I would escape as soon as I got back to my room but three guards rushed into the study and covered the door. “Get out of my way,” I said, panic and fear tearing at my insides. Sue, my supposedly stepmother, laughed from behind me as she took measured steps forward like a mishaped cat and finally, she and my father stopped beside me, hand in hand like the sweetest couple to ever exist and revulsion almost made me puke my guts out. “You didn't really think we wouldn't take needful measures, did you?” She asked with a smirk on her lips and I felt my blood run cold inside of my veins. “What are you doing?” I finally found my voice to ask that question and she smiled wickedly, her eyes glinting with the madness I had always seen in them anytime she did something evil to me.. “Just stay obediently in your room and there would be no mishaps,” father said with a small smile that didn't reach his eyes before it disappeared into something wicked and he waved his hands for the guards to take me away. “Father.. I'm your daughter too..!!..!!..!” I screamed and struggled as I was dragged away from the study and towards my prison of a room. As we got closer and closer, I saw Jasmine walk out from inside of it holding a bracelet in her hands and my eyes instantly zeroed in on what it was. My mother's jade bracelet, the one she had left for me before she died when I was still a child. I felt pain and anger flare up within me as I struggled more against the guards, hoping to escape them and catch that evil b***h. "Jasmine, I'll kill you for that!!!" I screeched at the top of my lungs as I flailed about like a damn fish, trying to escape once again but one of the guards holding me cussed under his breath and backhanded me hard. Sending me sprawling to the ground like a sack of potatoes, my face stinging from all the slaps it had received in a span of an hour. “Jasmine…that bracelet belongs to me,” she chuckled at my whispered words as she bent down to my height on the ground and I glared hotly at her. “But it's mine now..just like everything else that was once yours..and there's nothing you can do about it." she smirked as she held my jaws for a moment before pushing my away from her and cleaning her palms like she had touched something dirty. "Take her away!" she ordered with mischief and amusement in her greenish orbs and the guards each nodded before they came to pull me roughly to my feet and drag me away. “You won't get away with this!! that belongs to my mother!!!!!!” I screamed at the top of my lungs over and over again as I was dragged away to my bedroom and I heard her tinkling laughter fill my ears. But before I was thrown into the room and locked up, I saw her feign a stumble and the bracelet went flying to the ground, shattering on impact. With professionalism, she also fell to the ground and pricked her palms on the shattered jade then she cried out in pain. I watched the bracelet scatter about in different pieces and felt my heart stop and shatter alongside it, that had been my only source of hope ever since I was a child till now. I had always felt my mother's spirit through that jade bracelet and now she had broken that connection I thought I still had. Pain unlike anything I had ever felt in my life sliced though my chest and with a hoarse voice, I screeched “I will kill you!” But she merely smiled as father and her b***h of a mother rushed out and glared hotly at me when they saw the state she was in. “Father, mother. It's not Anya’s fault, she was just angry that she had to help my frail self out,” “How dare she?” Father was livid and I felt fear rush through me when his eyes turned to mine but the anger and hate in me was riding my audacity. “You will all pay for this, I promise you!” I exclaimed as the guards hands tightened around me, one of them used the opportunity to even grope my breasts before they pushed me into the room and locked it. My whole body felt disgusting as I laid there sprawled on the ground with tears rushing down my cheeks like a waterfall. “She is not to be served dinner or breakfast today and tomorrow and if anyone goes against my orders then prepare to suffer dire consequences!” his order reached my ears through the door and I smiled painfully as the tears increased and soon, I was sobbing softly to myself. Their voice fussing over Jasmine continued for a while before it disappeared completely and finally, the whole place was silent and almost choking. How could I marry that bastard of a man? I hated him with passion and that had been clear from the very instant I met him. He was handsy and didn't take no for an answer, always trying to grope me and touch me like he owned me and now I was to be married to him?. To Jason? I can't, I couldn't be that stupid as to let that happen to me. I can't just sit here and wait for death to find me.. no, I can't. Sitting up, I quickly wiped my tears away and my eyes were instantly drawn to the secret pipe way that I had always used ever since I was a kid. It was a secret no one knew about and although it was now a tight fit for me with all my curves and such, I had no other choice and I couldn't escape through the window or I'd be caught immediately. I had done so countless times and they had begun to station countless guards there to keep watch, just to avoid my escape but also to keep me on a tighter leash. “Foolish bastards.” I cussed as I got to my feet and quickly dressed up in a simple outfit, a black hoodie and black jeans with black combat boots and together, they made me feel ridiculous. Pushing open the closet door, I quickly slipped into the pipe way and locked the closet from behind me to avoid anyone finding out before I inhaled deeply and then let go. The rush was dizzying as I plummeted down so many floors but soon, I landed on something soft and cushioned and quietly stood up. Creeping out through the garden gates, I quickly boarded a taxi and ran to the only place I had a friend at. “Anya?” Selena was shocked when she saw me from behind the bar counter and I felt tears well up in my eyes as I rushed forward to hug her. “What's wrong? What happened?” She fired out with obvious concern on her face and I sniffed, taking a seat before her. “Another sho-” “Shut it!” she fired back at the guy and he shuddered as he turned his eyes away with obvious fear and I smiled painfully. “He wants me to marry that imbecile of a man,” I forced myself to explain to her and her face turned ashen as she stared at me throughout my explanation. I grabbed a whiskey bottle from the side and brought it to my lips after the explanation, taking a long drag from it until my chest burned and my vision began to blur. She was quiet throughout the whole explanation and even after it and my brows furrowed as I put down the whiskey to stare at her, quickly seeing the lack of surprise in her eyes. “Selena?” I asked, my voice smaller than I was as I stared at her with growing suspicion. “I'm sorry, I had to tell them you were always coming here even when they had no clue you weren't in your room,” she said, her eyes apologetic as she stared at me and I felt the last remaining piece of my heart shatter completely, my brain piercing together what she meant. I recalled how easy it had been for father to station guards at his door ready for me, how he had known I had always been sneaking out of the house, how he knew that I would do the same thing if care wasn't taken and my eyes instantly twitched. I had to be wrong, she couldn't have done that… she was messing with me again as she always do. “You gave me up… for what? I thought you were my friend… I trusted you!” I exclaimed, pain marring my features as I gently stood to my feet with defeat beginning to dawn on me. “They offered me money.. I needed it for my mother's surgery so I told them when they asked me if I knew anything about you that they could use,” she said and I laughed, the sound hollow and grating and I saw fear in her eyes. “You meant this money?” I asked, pulling out the card I had swiped while I was escaping the house earlier. The same card I had secretly worked my ass off for so I could be able to help her out with her mother's surgery bills. That's what she gave me up for? “How did yo-” “Everyday for the past two months, every single day.. and this is what I get?” I laughed as I drank the entirety of the whiskey before I turned around, tears streaming down my cheeks as I dropped it then began to walk away from her. “Anya, wait!” she cried out, coming to grab my hand and I swiped it away with anger and pain. “Dont you dare… don't you dare.. I trusted you!!!!!!” I screamed and people turned to stare at us, the club after all was packed full. “I trusted you…” I trailed off at the anguish in my voice and began to walk away from her. “Wait…” “I f*****g trusted you…” I whispered, my voice a bit darker than ever as I seamlessly mixed in with the crowd of dancing men and women. What a life I had… what had I ever done to deserve all this pain…? My hands grabbed at the collar of my shirt and drew at it, desperation clawed at my insides as I tried to get air on my burning skin. Why was I suddenly burning up? f**k… why did it feel so damn hot?. “I'm sorry, I'll rectify it now. Please don't hate me” Selena's voice reached my ears as she came to hold me and I weakly pushed her away but she didn't let go. What had she done again? My mind took me back to the whiskey she had dropped in front of me when I was making my explanations earlier and how much of it I had drank.. f**k, she had drugged me. What a friend I had.... “Please, let me stop all this.” she pleaded as she began to lead me away from the club and then through the backdoor around her counter. “W-where are y--you ta-tak-” “Where do you think you're going?” A chilling voice sounded from behind us and I heard her let out a gasp as she turned us around and there, standing hand in hand were two people I never wanted to set my eyes on again. Even with my blurred vision, I knew it was none other than Jasmine and Jason…
