I am strong.
They can never hurt me.
They have their try to kill me.
But I am strong.
I kept on mumbling as each of the suspects were placed on a line up. I managed to point out the three guys to Sgt. Harris without hesitation. She nodded then asked me to go to the next room wherein they will be questioning those guys one by one. Sgt. Harris made sure that the suspect won't be able to see me but I'll be able to hear and see them during questioning. Kyle tightened his hold onto my shoulder in reassurance but I barely noticed. I was too focused on those men, how their eyes held the glint of evil that they unleashed on me.
When each of them was brought to a different room for questioning, I was taken to the one of the rooms. It just so happens that the person I was going to listen in on was the guy who almost beat me up to death and who attempted to kill me in the hospital.
Sgt. Harris nodded and asked her partner to do the questioning.
Some of the questions were totally random like what did he do before he came here in this city although the police already has a file about their group. It seems that they were a part of a human trafficking ring that was kidnapping women under ages 15 to 18. Their boss asked them to do a hit for his girlfriend that's why I was placed in the mix. They were supposed to kill me on sight but fortunately or unfortunately, they found me too beautiful to pass up. So they agreed to have their fun with me before he could do the deed.
My heart hitched on hearing that I was a target of a human trafficking boss as requested by the so-called girlfriend. I wanted to shout at the man or beat him senseless. Should I be grateful to be r***d and beaten instead of being sold into slavery? Now who the heck could their boss be? I knew Ana had never had a boyfriend, as she always claimed that she would follow my footsteps but now I knew better.
The man went on to say that their boss has already left the country once they were arrested. As for the girlfriend, they were unaware if she followed their boss or remained in the country. I closed my eyes upon hearing my sister's name as the boss's girlfriend.
Oh God what a mess!
Kyle sprinted out when the police brought out the man and punched him in the face. The police had to hold him down in order to stop him from killing the suspect. I, for one, would like a piece of the action but I decided to think more on the interrogation. Who was Ana's boyfriend? A human trafficking ring? What kind of mess did my sister got herself into? Are my parents okay?
I became worried about my parents. Their sudden disappearance, my abduction and almost death, my sister's involvement with a gang were all crowding in my head, demanding my attention. I wanted to call my parents but they didn't have their phones, they inconveniently left it at home. I remembered that most of the stuff they usually care during travels were also missing so I assumed that they were in a business trip. What if they were also abducted by these thugs and disposed of? I wouldn't assume that my sister can do such a thing to our own parents but evil is at work here. Where did my caring sister go?
The other men had the same statement as the first one, the last one gave the location of their hideout. Sgt. Harris promised that she will be in touch with updates of what they will find. I was grateful for her assistance. I also asked her to look for my parents and gave the details of what I remember about them so that they could start looking. She also showed me a composite sketch of the boss that they were able to get from those men. I looked at it long and hard. I want to know and commit to memory the man who wanted me dead. Kyle urged me to take a picture instead so that I can keep it for identification. Once that was done, Sgt. Harris took our cell numbers as well as giving hers so that we could keep in touch. Although I felt a little disappointed that they had not arrested all of those who were involved, I still felt that something worthwhile had happened. I may not be free but now I can breathe.

Afterwards, Kyle had to go back to the station but promised to drop by Amore Mio when he has the time. I mounted my bike again and went directly to the gym to start my training. I needed an outlet to let my anger go. I want justice to what has been done to me but those who started it were out of reach. So I need this training. I want to be ready. The danger is still there. Every day that my sister manages to avoid the police is a day that my life might be in danger or my parents. I don't have anyone else to depend on but myself.
The first half of the training was horrendous. My muscles protested at being tugged in many different directions. But I wanted this. I've got this.
I was lifting small dumbbells to strengthen my arms when my phone suddenly lit up with a call. I returned the weights on the floor and wiped my sweat before checking my phone. When I saw that it was James, I did not even bother to answer it. Once I cut the call, I decided to drink some water and rest for a minute.
"Hey there!"
I almost sputtered the water all over the carpeted floor as I recognized the voice. Gulping deeply, I wiped my mouth before looking up at the smiling face of my boss, Liam Ricks.
"Um, hi yourself. I didn't know you have a schedule for training today." I tried to compose myself as he came near me and sat down beside me. He was wearing a very tight muscle shirt, his pecs glaringly obvious and light gray jogging pants. His dark hair was a little wet from his sweat but his smell was not like those guys who frequent these gyms. It was musky and so addicting.
Stop drooling over the boss, girl.
"Uh yeah. I just thought that I could work on my cardio since we have a closed shop today. I didn't know you'd be here. I thought you have a date with Tamara?"
I raised an eyebrow. I just smiled. Oh my, such a hot stalker.
