Chapter 11: What Cyrus Hates

1173 Words
“But take the cake away. I'll only partake in the soup.” I took the heaviest breath I had in my life as I slowly turned to Cyrus and calmed myself down. If there's one thing I learned about him today, it is that he HATES and ABHORS sweets. He walked towards me and grabbed the bowl of mushroom soup from my hand. He didn't say anything. He just took it in a blink of an eye and went back inside his heavenly room. I was left dumbfounded once more. Does he really remember what happened last night? ... “Maybe you should just pick this blue.” Kieran stopped talking and caressed his chin while thinking heavily. “or perhaps that crimson one?” Currently, I am trying on dresses in the tailor shop. Ma'am Hasha said she couldn't come with me anymore, so I had to ask Kieran, the greatest chaperone of all time. “Really? You told me earlier I look good in the golden one,” I mumbled and frowned at him. It's been hours since we came here and I just know that I may have already tried all the dresses here. Kieran keeps saying that I look good in this dress, and in that, and it's just making me all puzzled about what to buy. “You look good in everything. Just choose what you think suits you the most," he replied and leaned on the wall as he pulled a cigarette from his pocket. The tailor woman, who was of age forty with messy and frizzy brown hair, looked at Kieran with a confused face. “Hey, lad! You are not allowed to smoke inside this place!” the tailor yelled. Kieran looked in the tailor’s direction and smiled at her. “I won't light it up.” He slowly placed the cigar between his lips and smirked as he slid both his hands inside his pocket. I rolled my eyes for the nth time. I went back inside the changing room and took three dresses with me that certainly fit my type. Ma'am Hasha told me not to spend all my allowance on buying dresses. Three will do. One was the crimson one with a ribbon on the side, which Kieran suggested. One was a long-sleeved white maxi dress, and the other is a sage green puff-sleeved dress. All are plain but elegant to my sight. Also, the fabrics used are of high quality. I've never worn a dress like this in my entire life! All my dresses and clothes back at home are either second-hand or with extreme flaws. “I’ll take these,” I kindly spoke to the tailored woman and handed the dresses over to her. I glanced at Kieran who was still standing and leaning on the wall as he played with the cigar in between his lips. His eyes were closed but they were moving speedily from side to side. I bet he is thinking about something deep. I just kept staring at him for an unknown reason. I didn't mean to stare at him for so long. “Here you go,” I heard the tailor's calm voice behind me. “Thanks.” She handed me the paper bag of dresses and I grabbed it with extreme joy! I couldn't wait to wear these dresses! I was about to walk towards Kieran on the other side, but a lady suddenly stood in front of me. Her arms were crossed and she was looking at me with a rude face. She has long, straight black hair, she is shorter than me by about an inch or two, and she has deep green eyes that are very striking. She's chewing the bubble gum too loudly and it annoys me. She was wearing a blue jumpsuit that embraced her curvy body perfectly. She looks beautiful, but I can tell her attitude speaks otherwise. I faked a smile at her and was about to pass through, but she spoke. “You are the infamous auctioned omega, eh?” she asked me with a condemning tone. I closed my eyes and slowly faced her. It's the third time I heard someone ask me this here in town. The first one was an old woman and the second was a young man about my age. I can't believe commoners also knew about it! They even recognize me! And the third is this lady standing in front of me. From the looks of her, she might be in her late-teen years. “Yes, I am the infamous auctioned omega. Is there a problem with it?” She eyed me from head to toe and rolled her eyes. This brat! Why is she acting so rude?! “You just look mid. The Alpha King must've been so drunk during the auction.” Ha? How dare this little— “What is going on?” Kieran’s voice promulgated from behind. As soon as he saw the lady in front of me, he smiled at her. I smirked as I figured out his smile was fake. “How do we help you? Do you need something?” Kieran asked the lady in a somber tone. That little brat had her jaw dropped as soon as she diverted her eyes from me to Kieran. She shook her head, turned her back to us, and walked away. “Did she say something bad to you? Are you okay?” Kieran asked as he moved in front of me. He held both my shoulders in worry. “I’m fine. She's just as curious as everybody else. Maybe everyone thinks that I didn't deserve to be auctioned. Well, I understand them. I don't even think I deserve it. Cyrus was drunk that night, that is why—” Kieran placed his forefinger on my lips and smiled at me, showing his perfect white teeth and dimples. “Don’t sweat about it. It's not your fault that Cyrus was drunk that night. Come on. I want to take you somewhere.” “Where?” “Just come.” We rushed out of the tailor shop. I just followed Kieran to wherever he wanted to take me. He seemed so excited about showing me whatever it was. As we were walking down the busy streets, I saw a bakeshop with fancy cakes. I halted walking and stared at it for a moment. Immediately, Cyrus came to my mind. Why do I have to remember him again? I was trying to forget about him already since what he did yesterday. He just left me like that and acted as if nothing happened. He didn't even thank me for the soup! But yeah. Maybe that's what I am supposed to do too. Act as if nothing happened. “Hey! What are you looking at? Come on!” I looked at Kieran standing and waving his hand at me a few meters away. I wish Cyrus is the man I am with right now. “Coming!”
