Cyrus is a telepath?
“W-why are you telling me this?” I asked Kieran, stuttering.
He lifted his hands from the table behind me. “Nothing. I bet you might want to know about it.”
Of course, I do. I've always been curious about Cyrus's sixth and seventh senses.
I nodded my head at Kieran and turned back to chopping the other ingredients of the soup.
Fifteen minutes later, I finally finished cooking the mushroom soup I prepared for Cyrus. I placed it in a white marble bowl and also prepared orange juice. Kieran was just there in a corner, looking at me while I was doing my thing. Or if he isn't looking at me, he's just playing and juggling with the tomatoes.
I was about to take the tray and take it to Cyrus's room, but I saw the golden oven I was wiping earlier. Then I remembered something that Cyrus said that night when we were together. He implied that he wanted sweet stuff.
I grabbed all the baking ingredients and speedily baked a blueberry cheesecake. I've been making this cake for a long time now so I have already mastered it. Back when I was living on the outskirts of Devas, Everlee and I used to sell cakes to the commoners and nobles near the area to earn money. I smiled as I recalled those fun memories. We've experienced lots of hardships in life, but that doesn't mean we aren't living a happy life. Now, I'm going to work hard, so my family won't have to work hard in the outskirts just to earn below the minimum wage. I want every omega to be considered worthy and as valuable as the others.
“That smells good, Eagle. What do you call that?” asked Kieran as soon as I finished baking.
I licked the extra blueberry syrup on my thumb before replying to him. “What else? The infamous blueberry cheesecake by yours truly!”
I sliced the round cake into eight and placed one slice on a small plate. The slice filled with most blueberry syrup is for Cyrus.
“Why do you have to make the Alpha that? Does that also help soothe a drunk mind?”
I scowled at Kieran. “I just want to bake this for him, okay? There are lots of extra slices over there, if you want to, feel free to take a bite,” I said and grabbed the tray of food.
“May I eat all this?” Kieran retorted as I was about to leave the kitchen.
“NOT ALL! LEAVE SOME FOR ME!”
...
I had already reached the fourth floor of this castle, which was said by the other maids to be Cyrus's room. I was already heavily panting when I stepped onto the last block of the stairs.
This castle doesn't look like those which are from the medieval period. It just looks like an enormous mansion filled with gold and marble ornaments everywhere.
I saw two big golden doors at the edge of one corner of the floor. I stepped towards it and placed my hand on the square hollow space in the middle of one of the doors. It didn't have a doorknob, so I just did whatever came into my mind.
The doors opened and revealed Cyrus's room, which is probably what heaven looks like. His room is so vast and massive! It's even bigger than the hundred-meter-squared kitchen downstairs! As I stepped inside, I closed my eyes because the light coming from the outside was blinding me through the opened windows. His room has four corners, and two of the corners have oval windows that are open. The walls of this room are painted with soft blue and white colors of the sky, so as his king-sized rectangular bed. As soon as I reached closer to him, I saw a passageway to another room. I just ignored it and faced Cyrus who was lying down on his bed and sleeping peacefully.
I sighed and placed the tray of food on top of his golden bedside table. I wonder how much I will earn if I sold all the gold here in his room. He has a large blue wardrobe that is probably bigger than my room on the inside. Also, he has this big grandfather clock beside that wardrobe, which is probably older than him, and a table where he places his luxurious perfumes. He doesn't need perfume anymore though. He smells just as fine as how I want him.
There is also a big sofa on the edge of his bed with white and blue pillows. On either side of his bed are a nightstand and a bedside cabinet. The theme of his room is literally heaven.
That's just it inside this massive room of his. All I can say is that he is so clean and organized in his things.
I looked back at the passageway leading to another room. It wasn't a very narrow one so I could see the other room standing behind it. Did I see a large bookshelf filled with books about vampires? Or was I just seeing the wrong thing?
“Are you there?” I heard Cyrus's soft voice. I immediately turned to him and helped him sit down on his bed. He leaned his back on the headboard as I held the tray of food.
“Should I feed you?” I asked him.
Cyrus didn't look at me. He just looked at the grandfather clock beside his massive wardrobe. It was annoyingly ticking so loudly. Isn't he getting bothered by this noise?
“I am not bothered,” he replied.
My eyes grew wider as I was startled, but not too much because I already knew he is a telepath. I kind of hoped that Kieran didn't spoil that for me. Maybe if he didn't, I would be gasping right now, wondering how on Devas did Cyrus figure out what I was thinking.
“Oh, okay.” The awkward silence came in. “S-should I already leave? I'll come back if you're done.”
I handed the tray of food over to Cyrus and he gently took it from me. I felt our hands touch the tray. I couldn't keep myself from smiling.
As soon as he looked at the food, I saw him staring very carefully at the blueberry cheesecake like he had some beef with it.
I forcefully smiled and rubbed my forehead. Maybe he does like it. Should I just take it away from him?
“I don't want desserts. Please take this away from me. I lost my appetite.” He sounded so disappointed and apathetic. He wasn't acting like this earlier.
Cyrus returned the tray to me. Immediately, he lay back down on his bed and covered himself with his white and clean blankets.
I was stunned and didn't know what to do. My eyes were widely opened as I tried to process what had just happened.
Yup, that happened. He rejected the food I made for him just because of the dessert. Maybe he doesn't like sweets at all. It's bad to get the wrong idea.
I lowered my head and tightened my grip on the tray. My heart felt so heavy and my breathing became too hard. A tear rolled out of my right eye and fell down at the blueberry cheesecake’s top.
“I apologize. I didn't know about your dislike of desserts, Alpha. I'm deeply sorry.”
I ran outside while my tears kept streaming down like a river. My vision became blurry because of it, so I had to place the tray down on a table to wipe my tears away.
Don't cry, Aquilla. You have to get yourself together. It's your fault for assuming Cyrus liked sweets.
I took a deep breath and forced a smile. I'm just doing my job. There's no need to cry about it. If he doesn't like it, then he doesn't like it.
“Wait, Aquilla.”
I halted walking as I heard Cyrus's voice from behind. He was just calling me casually but the effect his voice had on me is too much. I still didn't look back at him because I was embarrassed he would see my swollen eyes.
“Forget it. I'll eat whatever it is that you made for me.”
