Chapter 9

Sandra (P.O.V).

Finally, the day of the play arrived and of course, Charles's party. I was so grateful that it's a night party, I have a little time to take a nap when I get home from school before attending. I felt really bad that Pearl and Bella won't be able to attend, Bella had things to get fixed with after the play and Pearl had family issues to sort out, I guess it's me and the world tonight, so horrible!.

We only had three classes today because of the play, many students were talking about it and some teachers were also excited about it. Hours went by quickly and the time for the play finally came, everyone gathered at the auditorium and watched Bella who played the role of Princess Diana of England, her performance was so excellent as she carried her role with so much pride.

After the play, teachers and students couldn't stop applauding her and the other actors for their wonderful performance.

I quickly went backstage, when Bella saw me, she hugged me excitedly, her giggles filled my ears. "That was amazing," I said to her proudly.

She smiled happily, her face blushing so hard, "Thanks" she replied sweetly. I glanced at my wristwatch realizing that it is time to head home, "I have to leave now, you know that I still have my sister's boyfriend party to attend tonight" I explained regretfully.

Bella patted me gently, "it is fine," she said. Pearl walked towards her as she showered praises on Bella. I told Pearl that I have to leave immediately due to Charles's party and, nodding, she hugged me and told me to stay safe.

Quickly, I left my school and walked home, on my way, I got a call from Kate telling me that she is at Cynthia's house. She and Cynthia have been best friends since junior school and I wonder why she needs me at the party when her best friend is there for her. Shoving the thought away, I got home by 4:20 pm and I decided to take a nap because I was so exhausted.

The sound of my ringing phone woke me up. Startled by the noise, I got up and glanced at the time, it was 7:00 pm already, I paused for a while wondering how time went by so fast, the party has started 30 minutes ago. I glared at my phone again and saw missed calls from Kate. I quickly got down from my bed, walked over to my wardrobe, picked a pair of white shorts and a pink V-neck blouse that revealed little of my cleavage, it is all Kate's idea that I dress hot for the party.

Minutes later after dressing, I walked out of my apartment and ordered a cab immediately after I got out. A few minutes later, the cab stopped me at the front of Charles's house and I could hear the around of music from where I stood. I rolled my eyes in slight annoyance and quickly dialed Kate's number. A few seconds later, she came out looking a bit pissed, "You are late" she said as she walked towards me.

I twisted my face not surprised at her outburst, "You should be happy I showed up" I replied placing my hand towards her, "My money" I let out

Kate laughed, "Alright" she dipped her hand into her bag and brought out a dollar note.

I stared at her unbelievable, "Just 5 dollars?" I implored.

She laughed aloud as her black short hair radiated in delight "Chill, I will pay you more tomorrow, now let's go in" she gestured as she led the way into his apartment. I got a clearer look at her outfit and I am impressed, Kate sure knows how to dress to kill, her dressing was on point! She wore a red fitted gown which made her curves sexy, I know that Charles must be blown out at the look of her.

We walked into the house which was filled with students from our school. Some couples stood at the side of the entrance door making out passionately, honestly, I got disgusted, "Get a room, pals!" I screamed in my head.

Kate ushered me a seat, few minutes later, she walked towards me with a soda, she knows I don't drink alcohol, I don't want to end up throwing up in front of everyone.

After an hour, I became bored, and the loud music was piercing through my eardrums. I glanced at my phone and I realized it is 8:45 pm already. I couldn't take the boredom anymore, quickly, I called Kate phone line but wasn't answering. I tried again but still the same, maybe she is busy with Charles at the moment and the thought of my sister being intimate with Charles grossed me out completely.

I decided to wait but after another boring 30 minutes, I decide to go home. I texted Kate informing her of my dismissal and without waiting for another minute, I walked out of the apartment.

The outside was a bit chilly, I rubbed my hand as my eyes scanned around. There was no sign of any cab, I became frustrated as I stood still waiting for a can to drive past. My legs were hurting and my shoe was not helping me at all. After waiting for almost 16 minutes, still no sign of a cab. I removed my shoes and began to walk barefoot along the empty road with hopes of getting a cab soon. My feet were getting sore and I couldn't bear it any longer.

At a point, I got tired, frustrated, and a bit tense, it was getting pretty late and it won't be safe staying out this late. I stopped walking, it was no use, Charles's house is far from mine and getting home on foot isn't possible at all. I glanced at my phone and realized it was 10:20 pm, how long have I been walking?.. I asked myself nervously.

I stood there deliberating on what to do, I was tired, frustrated, and weak with swollen feet with no idea of where to go.

As I stood there lost in thoughts, the sound of a car beside me drew my attention, scared, I wondered who that it but my tiredness was getting the best of me. The car glass moved down slowly as I narrowed my eyes wondering who it was, so I walked a bit closer towards the car just to get a clearer look. When I got closer, the face of the driver became clear and I gasped in horror.

"Hi" A thick muscular voice cut through my mind. A devilish smile appeared on his face as his beautiful set of teeth shined gloriously in the dark, "It seems that you are lost, do you need help?" he asked with a soft and tender tone but I couldn't concentrate on what he said at that moment, I stood there mute and stared in shock at the face that never seems to stop hunting me.
