Indra couldn’t help but feel like Andre deserved what he just got. It had floored her when he’d stuck up for Trish over the woman who so clearly was his mate. She had never been so angry or disgusted with her brother before in her life. Once his mate was out of sight, Indra walked over to Ayden and Suri. “ He guys, welcome!” she said with a smile and Ayden just shook his head. “ So who was that?” Indra asked later on when they were picking up large pieces of broken house. Ayden looked at Suri before answering Indra. “ Her name is Ayla. She saved us from a group of rogues, vampires and hunters working together almost a week ago.” Ayden said. Indra looked confused and tilted her head to the side. “ There is something you aren’t telling me.” She said softly. This time it was Suri who answered. “ Ayla is Fae.” she nearly whispered and Indra dropped the beam she’d been holding. Andre sat off to the side as the pack doctor checked him over. That blast his mate had hit him with had packed quite a punch. “ You deserved more than that.” Kai said to him growling. “ I did not take Trish’s side. I was just trying to stop my mate before she did something she regretted.” Andre tried to defend himself. Andre didn’t know he’d spoken out loud until Suri came stomping up to him, Ayden on her tale. The witch was fuming, Andre could feel the magic crackling around her. “ You are an asshole, sorry excuse for a mate and you know it!” she yelled at him as Ayden tried to hold her back. By this point his whole pack had stopped working and was watching the spectacle. “ She’s waited for you for thousands of years! And what do you do? Your stupid ass is f*****g the pack w***e while your mate is rolling around on the floor like her insides are being shredded!” she yelled some more while Ayden was pulling her away.
Andre didn’t know what Suri was talking about and he looked at his sister confused as she walked up to him. She looked so disappointed in him and it made him blush in embarrassment. “ What the hell is she raving about?” Andre demanded but was cut short when Axel showed up. The old wolf walked slowly towards Andre and Indra. “ I got your message Alpha Andre and I had to come to tell you in person that the only beings who can awaken the Ancient Sentinels are the Fae, or more importantly, a descendant of the All Mother.” Axel said and watched as all the blood drained from everyone’s faces. Ayla tried in vain to calm herself, to calm the thrashing of the power deep inside of her. She tried to box her hurt and anger away but it was no longer working. The pain of betrayal had crumbled whatever walls were keeping her power at bay. Ayla screamed as pain she hadn’t felt since her mother’s murder welled up inside of her. Her power surged forth as the pain roared through her until it became too much and she sank into darkness.
“ Oh ,my goddess!” Suri gasped and everyone turned to see what she was looking at. Everyone moved out of the way when a giant Sentinel walked into the open carrying Ayla’s limp body. Tears gathered in Suri’s eyes as she saw how ashen Ayla’s skin looked. She tried to reach out to touch her but Ayla’s power crackled around her like living electricity. Kai snarled inside of Andre and he looked up. His heart nearly stopped when he saw the limp body of his mate. Trish fell to the ground from his lap as he got up. Axel swore loudly as he saw Ayla’s pointed ears when the Sentinel set her body down. “ The Fae have returned!” Axel said, astonished. Kai howled in Andre’s head. “ Andre, our mate looks dead.” he said and Andre nodded. “ Goddess, Ayla!” Suri cried. She tried to get closer to Ayla but was unable. “ Ayla? Did you just say Ayla?” Axel asked softly. “ Andre, this woman is the daughter of Nyla. Nyla is the daughter of the all Mother. How did she get here? Why did she come?” Axel asked, shaking his head.
Andre cleared his throat uncomfortably and rubbed the back of his neck. “ She came to restore this realm so her people can rejoin this world. She was supposed to come and find her mate. Without her mate to anchor her power, it has grown too powerful for her body, it will kill her.” Suri said, glaring at Andre. Just then Ayla’s power flared again and her body began to convulse. Andre’s heart nearly stopped when he saw the way Ayla’s body was convulsing so violently. “ So how do we find her mate?” Axel asked and Ayden’s wolves growled. “ She found him already and when another she-wolf laid claim to him and threatened her, Ayla attacked. But her mate didn’t stand by her side, he took the side of the she-b***h he was f*****g!” Suri hissed. Suddenly, Axel looked around him and everything made sense. “ Andre, you’re her mate?” he asked, not really needing the answer. Andre nodded. Axel nodded and shook his head sadly. “ If she dies, so do all of the supernaturals of this world. She is the only one left who connects us to the All Mother.” Axel said walking away. Andre sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. He had f****d up really bad. With everyone in Ayden’s pack growling at him, Andre picked his mate up and cradled her to his chest. Her heart was beating so slowly that he almost couldn’t hear it. Her power coursed through him, causing him pain. It felt like he was being fried from the inside in the pits of hell. He hissed and growled as he brought her up to his bedroom. It was located in a portion of the house that hadn’t been destroyed and lay her gently on his bed." Please don't die on me little mate." He whispered into her ear.
