Chapter 7

Ayla woke in a soft bed. Shortly after discovering that her mate was being intimate with someone else, Ayla had passed out. She looked around and then spotted Suri on a chair beside the bed she was on. " How are you feeling? Are you alright?" Suri asked Ayla, her voice full of pain and worry. Ayla shrugged. She didn't know what to say. How was she supposed to feel when she learned that her mate didn't wait for her? " I need to leave. I have to find the root of the darkness in this realm and destroy it. I will just have to do it without my mate by my side." she said and tears gathered in Suri's eyes. " I am so sorry Ayla. Your first time back in this world. Trying to find your mate, only to learn that he is f*****g someone else. He has to know that you can feel it when he does?" she said more to herself than to Ayla. Ayla shrugged, " he wouldn't know because I haven't been here. She was angry, hurt and felt betrayed but why? she didn't even know who her mate was. Had never met him. If he knew that his mate would feel the pain of him joining with another, then he wasn't worthy of her. " I will just have to find another way to anchor my power. Without the mate bond." Ayla said and sniffed. Suri saw the sadness in Ayla's eyes. " What happens if you don't anchor your power Ayla?"  Suri asked. Ayla looked at Suri with bleak eyes and Suri suddenly knew. " Your power is killing you isn't it?" she asked in a whisper. Ayla lowered her gaze not able to meet the other woman's eyes. Without a word, Ayla walked out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Ayden looked confused as Ayla walked down the stairs, Suri following her, crying. He walked over to his mate and took her into his arms. " What's wrong my love?" he asked. Suri shook her head. " We need to help her Ayden, If we don't she'll die. The power within her is slowly killing her as it gets stronger. She needs an anchor." she told him as her tears spilled over. Ayden didn't need to ask what her anchor was. Niko had told him that Ayla's anchor was her mate. Even his wolf felt pain for Ayla. " Ayla we will accompany you on your journey. It is the least we can do to repay you for helping us." Ayden said and Ayla smiled sadly at him. Ayden quickly gathered a force of his pack warriors and followed Ayla out into the woods. " I feel bad for her Ayden. I couldn't even imagine being with anyone other than our Suri. How could her mate do this? not wait for her?" Niko said inside of Ayden. Ayden sighed and shook his head. " I don't know Niko. Maybe he had his reasons? maybe he didn't think he had a mate?" Ayden suggested but Niko only snorted in response. After a few days of travelling in the woods, Ayden looked around. He could smell the boundaries to another territory and called out to Ayla and Suri, who were walking together. " Not long now until we reach Andre's territory." Ayden called out.
