Dawn’s POV
The sound of footsteps echoed through the hall as Naomi led the group of women and children toward the meeting hall. Everyone was scared at this point. The older pack members tried to calm the younger ones, but fear was everywhere. I followed behind them, holding onto Naomi’s arm as we moved quickly through the corridors. The guards were shouting orders outside, and I could hear the sound of weapons being drawn.
“Keep moving,” Naomi said, glancing back at me. “The safe space is under the hall. Once we get there, we’ll be fine.”
But as we neared the entrance, something in me clicked. I could not explain it, but I felt like I needed to go, and a strange urge pulled me toward the forest. I stopped suddenly.
