Chapter 14

1270 Words

Wayne’s POV The forest was dark and quiet when I reached the lake, but nothing could stop the anger bubbling inside me.I clenched my hands into fists and kept pacing around. I hated myself for what happened. I had told her to leave, and I saw the hurt in her eyes. I wanted to take the words back, but I knew if I did, I would only drag her deeper into my mess. She should have stayed away from me from the beginning. The moment Levi showed up at my cabin, I knew things were about to fall apart. He had dragged her out like she was some kind of criminal, and the worst part was that I let it happen. I stood there and said nothing. I saw the look on her face, and I did nothing. After a while, when I had calmed down a little bit,I sat near the edge of the lake and ran my hand through the water.
