I did not even realize I had moved until I was already sprinting toward her with my hands raised toward the guards. “Please let her go,” I said as loudly as I could, because I needed them to understand that she was not a threat. “I know her. Please, she is not dangerous. She is my friend.”
The guards glanced at each other in hesitation, but none of them loosened their grip on her arms.
