Chapter 12December 26: Ramon The first hour of the milonga was easy, fun, painless. I danced two tandas following Angelo, led one with a young American woman, and sat one out. The second hour was still fun, but less easy. Angie was right: I needed to practice. And I needed to make this experience something that worked for me regardless of my partners. A learning experience, something I could build on. So I led three tandas, two with women, and followed one with another man. I didn’t see our acquaintances tonight. The winemaker and his wife had probably gone home to Mendoza; the teacher and bank manager might not like tango nuevo. The crowd was definitely younger and more casual. More diverse. There were several same-s*x couples, by which I mean people who were clearly there on a date. S
