Savannah’s POV
“What?!”
I winced hearing the loud screech and glared at Tia.
“Keep it down, down, will you? That f*cking dragon may be lurking somewhere nearby and I don’t want him to barge in here and create new stupid rules!”
“Huh! Why would you even listen to his idiotic rules! You should have slapped his f*cking rules back to his face and asked him to take a hike! Who is he to tell you that you can’t sleep in the same room as your mate! Hello? He is your baby daddy if that moron missed your bump!”
“He said he doesn’t care about the past, as he can’t change it. But he doesn’t want his betrothed to be with another man now that he found me.”
“Why is he hell bent on having you as his wife, anyway? Can’t he forget the whole blood bond thing your desperate ancestors made and let you live your life? Why would he want to marry a woman who is in love with another man and having his baby? He is a prince, for God’s sake. It’s not as if there would be any shortage of women who want to marry him even if he has an ugly mug!”
I felt my lips curve up in a smile and I shook my head. Trust Tia to lighten my mood even when I am at my wit’s end…
“For the record, he doesn’t have an ugly mug, as you call it. Still, he is nowhere near as handsome as my man. But it is not as if it matters, anyway. And yes, I don’t think avoiding the blood bond is that easy. It was different when I was on Earth but from the time I reached here, this birthmark kept darkening and the bond strengthened along with it,” I said, suppressing a shiver at the memory of the birthmark glowing in sync with that of Xavier’s. Talk about creepy!
“What exactly would happen if you refuse to accept the damn bond?”
I looked up at Tia and shook my head.
“If I try to break the bond, it most probably would end up killing me. I wouldn’t have believed it if it was just Xavier telling it, but Tristan thinks the same too…”
“This is just a mess. Why won’t you ever get a break, girl?”
“I don’t know what to do anymore. I just got him back and there is no way I am losing him again, even if it means death. I just can’t live without my dream guy…”
Tia sighed before taking my hand in hers and squeezed it comfortingly. I welcomed the little bit of solace before looking up at her.
“We will get over this. We always do,” she said.
“Always,” I replied with a small smile.
“Look at the bright side, though. You are a freaking princess. A Drakonian princess at that! Isn’t it awesome?!”
I raised my brows at her enthusiasm and didn’t have the heart to mention that the news of me being a princess was accompanied by the news of my mother’s death. And I didn’t even get to know her name…
“We are quite the pair, aren’t we?” Tia asked, snapping me out of my depressing thoughts and I looked at her questioningly.
“Two orphan human girls end up in an alternate world only to discover that one is a high witch, and the other is a powerful princess…”
I smirked at her in response.
“A witch who isn’t welcome among her peers and a princess without a realm. Quite a pair indeed…”
“Way to burst my bubble, you witch!”
“Well, only one among us is a witch and I don’t think that’s me.”
“Shut up, you f*cking princess!”
“Hmm. F*cking princess does have a ring to it, doesn’t it?”
We both stared at each other for a moment before bursting out laughing. I really needed this after all the drama with Xavier and his shocking revelations…
As if on cue, the door burst open, and I froze. Who would barge into my room like this?!
I turned to see Bea standing there panting heavily, trying to catch her breath, and I frowned. Bea is the most proper woman I know and if she just barged into the room without bothering to knock, that means there is trouble. Now what the hell happened?
“Bea? What is going on? Why are you hyperventilating like this? Is everything alright?”
“Y-Your Highness…”
“Yes?”
“F-fight!”
“Fight?”
“The King and the prince are fighting!”
I stiffened before sighing in defeat. I knew this was inevitable, but this soon? They just couldn’t wait to start their pissing fest, couldn’t they? Definitely that i***t Xavier must have said something about me being his betrothed, blah blah, and made my man snap. Just what I needed. Not!
Hoping the fight wasn’t that bad and I could stop them before everyone knows the issue between them, I followed Beatrice. Tia trailed behind me and all of us hastened our pace when we heard loud rumbles coming from the direction of the training grounds. Uh huh. That didn’t sound promising…
As soon as we reached the training grounds, I froze and gaped at the sight in front of me. Oh God!
The entire ground was covered in debris and the ground was a charred mess, with smoke clouding the area. What the hell happened here?!
I got the answer to my question as soon as the smoke cleared a bit and my eyes fell on the large beast standing just a few feet away from me. I stood, feeling paralyzed as I watched the huge golden dragon in the middle of the training grounds. A real f*****g dragon! The beast was at least the size of a house, and that was when it had its wings by its sides. And those scales! This is too unreal!
The next moment, the dragon let out a rumbling growl and the entire ground seemed to shake with the sound. And then its beady eyes glowed red for a moment before it sniffed and turned his head to stare right at me. I let out a gasp before taking a step back in alarm. I don’t want to be roasted by a dragon! I am not here! You can’t see me! Just don’t fry me!
A low growl reverberated through the training grounds and this time, it didn’t come from the dragon. Slowly, I turned and my eyes widened when I saw the large majestic wolf who stood proudly in front of the dragon without a care in the world. Though he was large, he looked small next to the enormous dragon, yet he didn’t look the least bit scared.
I had been uneasy after seeing the dragon, but with the wolf, all I could feel was awe. Though he was a mighty predator that I should have been scared of, I just felt safe with him in front of me. As if he could protect me from everyone and everything.
I stood, admiring the mighty wolf as he stalked over to the dragon. His black fur gleamed like silk and his emerald green eyes glittered with determination as he faced his larger adversary. My mate was damn gorgeous! This was the first time I was seeing Tristan in his wolf form and it was love at first sight all over again…
I was snapped out of my trance when the dragon snorted, letting out a ball of fire towards Tristan and I gasped in horror. Even though I was standing far from him, I was feeling the burn and if it even touched Tristan…
Just as the fire reached the wolf, his entire body was covered by a blue shield, and I looked at him in awe. Woah! How did he do that?!
“That’s His Majesty’s healing magic. The same energy that can be used to heal can also be used for lethal attacks, though His Majesty refrains from doing that. The healing energy could be used to prevent injuries when it is used as a shield, like we saw now,” Beatrice explained, making me turn to her. I knew that Tristan couldn’t heal his own injuries, but it hadn’t occurred to me that he could stop it from happening in the first place. Well, if he wasn’t drugged by wolfsbane, that is. The sight of him covered in injuries as he laid in the cell flashed through my mind again, fuelling my determination to never let anything come between us. Never again!
I turned towards the wolf and dragon to see them still going at each other. This time, it was the wolf who pounced on the dragon. I stood mesmerized as the wolf twisted agilely, avoiding the dragon’s paws. Then he turned and swiped his claws under the dragon’s belly, making Xavier let out an angry rumble. Ha! Take that, you stupid dragon!
As much as I liked watching my man in action and as much as I enjoyed seeing Xavier getting his ass handed over to him, I couldn’t let this go on like this. They had created such a mess here, and the cacophony had already brought the attention I was hoping to avert from our situation. Now everyone knew there was an issue between Tristan and Xavier. If I left them to their devices, it wouldn’t be far off before these fights blow into a full on war between the two realms. No! I had to stop this now itself and salvage the situation before Tristan could injure Xavier any further. If things escalate that much, all my attempts at truce would be for nothing…
I looked at Tia and Beatrice, who were staring at the fighting wolf and dragon with a mix of horror and fascination. Then I turned to see more scared faces peeking in from everywhere around the training grounds. Great! Just freaking great!
I sighed before turning back to the men who were supposed to know better than to have a full-blown fight in front of the people like this. Then I pasted on a smile and clapped my hands with as much enthusiasm as I could. The wolf halted in his tracks before turning to me. He pulled his ears back and c****d his head at me in puzzlement as the large dragon too tilted his head at me with confusion.
“Thank you so much for the wonderful show, Your Majesty and Your Highness. Both of you are amazing and I am grateful to you for showing us your skills!” I declared and watched with relief as the people started talking excitedly and cheering. A little burned training ground was no big deal when it was just a friendly match, right?
Now if only these two arrogant men would take my cue and step back from each other’s throats…
I gulped when I saw them staring at each other with hostile glares. Please calm down! Please! I looked at them pleadingly while trying to think of a Plan B. If they won’t step back now, I wouldn’t have any other option than using my powers on them, and I really didn’t want to. But then realization seemed to dawn on the men as they stared at the Mrs around them and the worried people observing them. Slowly, they stepped back from each other and as they started to change; I heaved a sigh of relief. As soon as they were back in their human forms, two servants ran to them with robes. Once they were dressed, the beastly aura slid off their faces, and they gave cordial smiles to the people around them.
“Sorry for the mess, people! We were just having fun. No worries!” Xavier bellowed, showing off his pearly whites, and I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes.
Tristan glared at Xavier with hatred for a moment before a calm mask slid over his face. Then he nodded as if in agreement and everyone relaxed around me. Crisis averted. For now!
As Xavier walked off in one direction and Tristan walked off in the other, I stood, feeling tired. It was just day one of his stay and already they were at each other’s throats. How was I going to survive the next two months if this happens on a daily basis? I have to figure out a solution to the bond issue and I have to do it before the two men cause a war...
